Ontario’s latest COVID-19 restrictions went into effect today and these will have an impact on the upcoming WWE live event in Toronto on December 29.
Facilities used for sport and entertainment facilities such as concert venues are now only eligible to allow 50% of capacity and obviously the Coca-Cola Coliseum, where the WWE live show will be held, falls under that category.
WWE sold quite a bit of tickets for this show so it’s unclear how the attendance will be managed. WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus will be hosting this live event, her first involvement with the company since SummerSlam 2019 where she lost a match against Charlotte Flair.
There has been no communication from WWE yet and the Twitter account for the Coca-Cola Coliseum says that the ticket operations team is currently working through the logistics of implementing the 50% capacity change and will provide follow up details to ticket holders soon.
Ohio Valley Wrestling will kick off 2022 with the OVW Nightmare Rumble airing live on FITE TV on January 15.
The main event will feature OVW champion Jessie Godderz defending the title against Chris Adonis, the man formerly known as Christ Masters in WWE.
Godderz appeared for Impact Wrestling between 2011 and 2017 and is a former two-time Tag Team champion with Robbie E as The BroMans. He appeared on Big Brother twice in seasons 10 and 11 as well.
The now-yearly Nightmare Rumble event will be held at the Davis Arena in Louisville, Kentucky and general admission tickets are available for just $15.
HUUGE BREAKING NEWS!
The LEGEND vs. LEGEND DREAM MATCH fans have been waiting for has finally been signed!
The WWE live event in Laval, Quebec, slated for December 30 will probably be canceled after the government of Quebec ordered a shutdown due to coronavirus surging cases.
The shutdown includes bars, cinemas, concert halls, gyms and spas closing at 5PM and the closure of all arenas for fans, with sporting events taking place behind closed doors.
WWE was set to visit The Place Bell Arena as part of their Holiday Tour event one day after running in Toronto with Trish Stratus as host. The company already postponed a handful of live events in Canada which were set for next month due to logistics issues.
While WWE has not commented yet on the situation, Ticketmaster already pulled the event from their listing.
Quebec’s Health Minister Christian Dubé said the shutdown and ban of fans from sporting venues comes after hospital reached half the capacity of their COVID beds as cases continues to rise, with Quebec reporting a record of 4,571 new cases on Monday.
Not every AEW title will be on the line at the upcoming Battle of the Belts TNT special next month.
The news was confirmed by AEW President Tony Khan, who while appearing on Busted Open Radio said that they only have one hour on January 8 so they can’t put every title match.
AEW currently has four titles – the AEW World, Tag Team, Women’s, and TNT – and will be adding the TBS title for women next year as well.
“It’s a great chance on a Saturday night to expand the reach of AEW by giving the fans great championship matches,” Khan continued, saying that they’re on a night which we all know people love to watch wrestling.
Regardless of the one-hour time limit, Khan said they’re going to put some big championship matches. Only one match has been announced so far, with Britt Baker taking on Riho with the AEW Women’s title on the line.
Friday’s Rampage on TNT drew 571,000 viewers, up 68,000 viewers from the previous week and the best number since the November 5 episode. Rampage placed #7 on the top 50 cable chart with an 18-49 rating of 0.23, also up 0.05 from the previous episode. (Ratings credit: Showbuzzdaily.com)
Few sports in Japan have gained attention like professional wrestling. WWE wrestling in Japan is extremely popular. The New Japan Pro Wrestling is also super popular and not just in Japan. Millions tune in to the action taking place in Japan’s wrestling scene. The sport is reaching new heights of popularity. How did this come about? What is the history of professional wrestling in Japan? How has it had an impact on some of the other forms of martial arts that are popular within the country?
Early Pro Wrestling Success In Japan
Professional wrestling in Japan is also known as “puroresu”. It first grew to prominence following the conclusion of WWII. The sport was somewhat obscure until sumo wrestling star Rikidozan transitioned to wrestling. He is still credited as one of the most influential figures in the history of the sport in Japan. Later he was recognized for his contributions to the sport and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Rikidozan debuted as a professional wrestler in October 1951. His popularity grew exponentially after defeating numerous American wrestlers. August 1958 was an important month for Japanese professional wrestling. Rikidozan defeated Lou Thesz to become the NWA International Heavyweight Champion. He also participated in the historic, sixty minute, title match against The Destroyer in 1968.
While successful in the ring, it was his work outside that had the largest impact wrestling in Japan. He formed the first Japanese professional wrestling company: The Japan Pro Wrestling Alliance (JWA).
Rival Japanese Companies Attract New Fans
In the 1970’s the popularity of professional wrestling exploded in Japan. Much like the ‘Attitude Era’ that saw the WCW and WWE compete for viewership, the many Japanese companies competed. The fierce competition was not kind to all companies and Rikidozan’s JWA folded in 1973. The newer All Japan Pro Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling gained popularity.
It was also during the 1970’s that mixed martial arts began to develop alongside pro wrestling. Antonio Inoki was the pioneer during this period. He competed in wrestling matches against karate and judo fighters throughout the decade. In 1976 Inoki stepped inside the ring to take on Muhammad Ali. This was a pivotal moment for pro wrestling and mixed martial arts. It was certainly one of the biggest draws ever in Japanese sports. However, in the end, fight was slightly disappointing. Despite the less than stellar action the concept captivated audiences. New wrestling fans were forged that day watching the spectacle.
Important Role Of Women In Popularity
Even at its beginnings, pro wrestling featured female athletes. Today women’s matches rival the men’s in viewership. Fans enjoy the opportunity to bet on wrestling matches featuring all wrestlers. Over recent years, the popularity of betting on female championship matches has increased. This is no surprise as the WWE has done an excellent job in promoting women’s wrestling. WrestleMania, the WWE’s flagship event, even features two important female only matches.
Despite the success of the WWE, Japan’s pro wrestling is ahead of the game on this front. The Japan Women’s Pro Wrestling Association was established in 1967. The early founding inspired a whole generation of female fans. It also provided a viable path to the top regardless of gender.
History was made in 1975, as Mach Fumiake won the WWWA Championship. Since her success only two wrestlers from outside of Japan have won the prestigious honor. It could be argued that women’s wrestling is more popular than male wrestling in Japan to this day. A huge number of stars have made a name for themselves like Lioness Asuka, Akira Hokuto and Jushin Liger. There has been no shortage of female talent in the past 30 years of Japanese pro wrestling.
Has Professional Wrestling Affected the Popularity Of Martial Arts?
The WWE has driven the global popularity of pro wrestling and this in turn has give rise to the popularity of other martial arts. There have been ‘crossover’ stars who competed in both. Brock Lesnar is probably the most prominent example. His resume of pro wrestling was impressive. He was both a WWE champion and IWGP champion in Japan. During his two-year stint in Japan, he would headline sold out matches against Shinsuke Nakamura and Kurt Angle. When Lesnar moved into the UFC, fans of Japanese wrestling continued to follow him. Lesnar had a profound impact on the popularity of UFC increasing, especially in Japan.
A day after saying he and his fiancee have split, AEW star Sammy Guevara wrote on Twitter that the end of his relationship with Pam had nothing to do with anyone else.
The tweet came after fellow wrestler Tay Conti received several abuse on the social media network as fans thought Conti was the reason why Guevara split with his fiancee.
In a previously posted video, Guevara and Conti were joking and told her that one of the comments was that they think the two “were screwing,” with Conti reacting by rolling her eyes.
“Pam and I broke up back in October and just now felt was the time to make it publicly known. So please stop pointing fingers and looking for someone to blame,” the TNT champion wrote.
Conti deactivated her Twitter account two days ago after Guevara posted his original tweet.
Several matches have been announced for tonight’s Monday Night Raw live from the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The matches include Bianca Belair vs Doudrop, Damien Priest vs Dolph Ziggler in a non-title match, Queen Zelina vs Rhea Ripley, Finn Balor vs Austin Theory, and AJ Styles and Omos vs Rey and Dominik Mysterio.
Plus, WWE Hall of Famer Edge will be in attendance to host The Cutting Edge with his guest Maryse!
A few WWE Superstars promoted tonight’s broadcast during the Bucks NBA game last night via pre-taped promos as only around 4,000 tickets were sold for the show.
WWE is offering a buy one, get one free ticket for the 2022 Royal Rumble with the offer passcode HOLIDAY on Ticketmaster.com.
Taking place from The Dome at America’s Center in St Louis, Missouri, the Royal Rumble already has over 25,000 tickets sold in a setup of just under 30,000. Less than half the stadium is being used for the Rumble and it’s unlikely more seats will open unless tickets start moving at a faster pace.
The stadium is configured to have the ring slightly to the right and not in the center and the entrance way will not have the usual big stage but WWE Superstars will come out from under the stands.
Ringside seats are still available for the show at $2,000 a ticket. There is also a Me+3 4-pack offer with buyers saving up to 25% when buying four tickets together. The buy one get one free offer lasts until this Friday.
WWE shot an angle in cinematic style of Liv Morgan trying to attack Becky Lynch during training.
The video, probably filmed at Seth Rollins’ Black and Brave Wrestling Academy in Davenport, Iowa, shows Liv Morgan entering the training facility as two other females – one in red hair like Lynch – are training in the ring. Morgan then enters the ring with a kendo stick as trainees at ringside alert the two in the ring of what’s coming.
Morgan attacks the redhead female but it turns out it’s not Becky, but someone else. Lynch in the meantime sneaks up from behind Morgan, takes her kendo stick and swings, but misses as Morgan ducks. The two exchanged blows and Morgan regains control of the stick and beats Becky with it.
WWE held a show in Des Moines, Iowa, yesterday night. Morgan will challenge Lynch for the Raw Women’s title at the Day 1 pay-per-view. The video has already racked up over a million views on YouTube.
Bret “Hit Man” Hart was inducted into the Canada Walk of Fame this weekend, another top honor for the former five-time WWE champion.
Bret was inducted by fellow Canadian and former WWE and AEW champion himself Chris Jericho and was assisted by a video from none other than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Hart said a special thank you to both men for taking their time out of their busy schedule to do that for him and said that he greatly appreciated the gesture from their part.
“While sadly this was cut out of my speech due to time constraints, I do want to say thank you to each and every wrestler I ever worked with. Thank you to the many Canadian wrestlers that paved the way for me: my father Stu, Gene Kiniski, Abdullah the Butcher, “Killer” Kowalski, “The Stomper”, Ed Carpentier, “Whipper” Watson, Sky Low Low, Rocky Johnson, Pat Patterson, Roddy Piper,” Hart wrote in a post on Instagram.
He also said that many other Canadians who filled his shoes after his career ended will someday deserve the same honor, mentioning Chris Jericho, Edge, Trish Stratus, Kevin Owens, Kenny Omega, Natalya, and Owen.
The Canada Walk of Fame Twitter account also thanked The Rock for his special appearance and The Rock replied saying that Bret was a mentor to him when he didn’t have to be and when there weren’t many “mentorship programs” back then. “He gave me guidance and I’ll always be grateful. Congrats my friend on your incredible accomplishment,” Johnson wrote.
WWE held a tryout this week at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, to select the next class of trainees.
WWE.COM uploaded 50 photos from the camp and among those featured was current ROH Women’s champion Rok-C.
The 20-year-old, real name Carla Gonzalez, was part of the ROH End of an Era pay-per-view last week and walked out of the arena as the ROH Women’s champion. After the match, AAA Reina de Reinas champion and Impact star Deonna Purrazzo confronted her and challenged her in a winner-take-all match at a future Impact Wrestling show.
Rok-C trained under WWE Hall of Famer Booker T when she was 16 years old and wrestled for his promotion Reality of Wrestling before starting appearing for Ring of Honor in 2021.
With ROH pausing all operations for a few months and releasing everyone under contract at the end of this year, Rok-C could start working for WWE pretty much immediately if she’s selected.
Four months after getting engaged in the middle of the ring before an episode of AEW Dynamite, TNT champion Sammy Guevara announced that he and his fiancée Pam are no longer together.
Writing on Twitter, Guevara wrote that he knows many supported the couple over a long time and they feel they owe it back to them to let them know they are not in a relationship anymore.
“We still love each other and wish nothing but the best for one another. We would appreciate your kindness and respect to our privacy during this time,” he wrote.
Impact on AXS TV drew 71,000 viewers this week, down 19,000 viewers from last week’s broadcast. This was one of the least-watched episodes of Impact this year. The show did a 0.02 in the 18-49 demographic. (Ratings credit: Showbuzzdaily.com)

AEW President Tony Khan looks like he was offended by a FOX News article which said that AEW’s excitement seems to be “cooling off” as part of an article outlining the rough December the Khan family is experiencing between the Jacksonville Jaguars and AEW.
The article, which mostly revolves around the Jaguars, mentions that after getting CM Punk, Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole, AEW’s ratings went down from the over 1 million it was pulling every week. It has now been 10 weeks since AEW broke the million viewer mark, something the FOX News article was trying to explain, but Tony Khan took it personally.
In three quick-succession tweets, Khan said that it’s “amusing” reading a FOX News article about AEW ratings when on Wednesday nights AEW has beaten every single FOX News show for six straight weeks. Khan attached ratings charts from Showbuzzdaily and then added another tweet by attaching four more weeks worth of charts.
“Did you know #AEWDynamite on Wednesdays on @TNTdrama has beaten EVERY single show on @FoxNews for 6 straight weeks? Surely @FOXNews knows as they like talking tv ratings; maybe they should focus on their content instead of playing boar on the floor,” Khan said in his third and final tweet on the subject.
Thanks @FoxNews, I appreciate that you’ve highlighted @AEW ratings when #AEWDynamite on Wednesdays has beaten EVERY single show on your network for 6 straight weeks. Here are a few more charts, Twitter only let me attach 4 weeks worth to my last tweet! See you TONIGHT #AEWRampagepic.twitter.com/Ow0vUmLnBs

The first match of the Battle of the Belts TNT special was set on Rampage last night.
It will feature Britt Baker defending her AEW Women’s title against Riho, with Riho cashing in the opportunity she earned after beating Baker in a non-title match last month on Rampage.
Riho is the company’s inaugural AEW Women’s champion, a title she won on the first-ever episode of Dynamite on October 2, defeating Nyla Rose. She held the title for 133 days, eventually losing to Rose.
Battle of the Belts is one of the four quarterly specials which will air on TNT in 2022. The show takes place from the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina on January 8. Tickets are available now.
After thanking him for 40 years of service to his family, the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns fired his special counsel Paul Heyman last night on Smackdown and hit him with the Superman punch.
Reigns, who was absent from Smackdown last week, said that he thought Heyman looked a little bit shady last week and started to ask questions such as if he knew Lesnar was going to be at SummerSlam, if he knew Lesnar was going to be at Madison Square Garden, if he knew Lesnar’s suspension was going to be lifted…all questions which Heyman looked guilty for.
Reigns then told Heyman to be honest and asked if he could trust him. Heyman, holding the Universal title, said that he was just protecting Reigns from Brock Lesnar and not the other way round.
The champ then went to hug Heyman, told him he loved him, and fired him on the spot.
After hitting him with the Superman punch, Brock Lesnar ran down and laid out both The Usos and was welcomed in the ring by a couple of chair shots from Reigns. But that did not slow down Lesnar who F5’d Reigns not once, but twice, to end the show.
Every player who starts betting has ambitious plans to make money from their favorite sport. It all seems simple enough in theory: you love sports, you think you know it, so why not get cash for it?
As practice shows, sports are not that predictable. Moreover, due to the bookmaker’s margin and the theory of probability, which limits any player, the prospect of earning in Canadian sports betting is minimized.
What are the Dangers of Big Wins?
Every player, sooner or later, is bound to get a big win in betting, which may relax and break his betting discipline, which may critically affect the playing bank and eventually lead to significant financial losses.
How does it work? Big winnings, as well as significant losses, can wreck the balance of any bettor and lead to rash actions, such as placing big bets or playing beyond the bankroll, which will lead to imminent losses.
The Safest Betting Strategies
The safety of a strategy is determined primarily by how the player allocates money for bets and how he treats wins and losses. In other words, it is not a betting strategy for a particular sport but a strategy of attitude towards betting in general. Methods do not guarantee 100% winnings. There are systems designed to limit losses but not to protect against them completely:
The system involves betting a fixed percentage of the bankroll (1-5%). After, the player improves the new size of the bankroll and calculates the new size of the bet. A portion of the bankroll principle is the same, but the bet is recalculated after each bet.
Fixed profit. Bettors make bets of such a size to get a fixed profit. In this case, the size of each bet will depend on the odds.
How to Make Money on Bets
Betting is the most popular form of entertainment, mainly because it is the number one sport. But soccer is also paid special attention by bookmakers: they cover most tournaments, everything is on the surface. Click casinocashing.com.
Many publications on the internet or pages on social networks assure you that you will earn money on bets with them. But, as experience has shown, such advertising produces results: fewer people want to make money by betting.
Indeed, it will be difficult for most players to earn money with bets, but it is possible to experience the game’s full range of emotions and pleasure.
How to Minimize Risks in Sportsbetting?
Almost no one can beat a bookie over the long haul; that’s why this business exists. So it’s only worth talking about ways to reduce risk. No strategy guarantees profits but saves the bankroll primarily through a systematic approach.
Avoid parlays. In theory, a parlay allows you to make some quick money on your bets. However, in practice, it’s only a burst of variance, and you’re sure to be at a disadvantage over the long distance.
Evaluate the situation from the outside. Players are susceptible to emotions when things don’t go their way. So give yourself a break and either go back to betting with a cool head or don’t go back at all.
Who Makes Money from Betting?
Those who do it professionally can earn a good and stable profit from betting. In 90% of cases, it is the bookmaker’s office. Sometimes they are professional players.
If you manage to win, there is a reason to rejoice, and in the case of a loss, it is essential not to get upset and control emotions, and for this, you need to bet such sums that you do not regret losing.
