A men’s and a women’s Owen Hart Cup tournaments will be held next year in May leading up to the tournament finals at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view.

The singles tournament winners will be presented the Owen Hart Cup by Dr. Martha Hart, the widow of Owen Hart, who will be at the pay-per-view live in person.

More information on the Owen Hart Cup will be released this coming Wednesday on Dynamite.

The collaboration between AEW and the Owen Hart Foundation will extend beyond the presentation of the Owen Hart Cup tournaments and AEW will also release Owen Hart merchandise and other Owen Hart-related activities. Owen will also be included in the upcoming AEW video game as a playable character.

Bret Hart says he has “no time” to be a wrestling on-screen character anymore

Bret “Hit Man” Hart said that he has “no time” to be an on-screen character on any wrestling show, be it a manager, referee, or anything else.

Hart was speaking during a Q&A session held in conjunction with his Canada Walk of Fame induction later today.

“Bret Hart was a wrestler not a manager and I don’t wanna be remembered as a manager so I would never do it,” Bret said when quizzed if he would be a manager in any promotion.

Bret added that he doesn’t want to even do any commentary because everything he says hurts as sometimes he can be “too honest” about it. He also shot down being a guest referee or anything else.

“I have no time to do that. I did my time on the road,” Bret continued. “I’d like to think I saved my money and I like to get away once in a while and do the odd little bit here and there to get out of the house but at the same time, my days of sort of playing a character for wrestling…I don’t need it that bad.”

Hart said that he’s happy making up time with his grand kids and being home with his family.

But there’s one thing that would get Hart back in the ring!

“If there was something where I could wrestle Donald Trump at WrestleMania and Vince McMahon was gonna referee it or something,” Hart joked. “I’d hear it out because it would be funny to hear it but the thought of me going in there and wrestling somebody is pretty unlikely!”

The former five-time WWE champion is being inducted into the Canada Walk of Fame along with Frederick Banting, Charles Best, James Collip, Roméo Dallaire, Graham Greene, and Keanu Reeves.

Texas death match for Impact’s Knockouts title at Hard To Kill

The Impact Knockouts title match at the upcoming Hard To Kill pay-per-view on January 8 between champion Mickie James and Deonna Purrazzo has been changed to a Texas death match.

James won the title at the Bound For Glory PPV this past October and the feud between the two has intensified every since. After several brawls, both James and Purrazzo now cannot touch each other until their match next month. This will be the first Texas death match for the Knockouts title in Impact Wrestling.

If Purrazzo regains the title, she will challenge ROH Women’s champion Rok-C in a winner-take-all match in the future. Purrazzo, the current AAA Reina de Reinas champion, appeared on Saturday’s ROH pay-per-view to make the challenge in person.

Former AEW talent Tesha Price signs developmental deal with WWE

It looks like former AEW talent Tesha Price has signed a developmental deal with WWE and is now going by the name of Fallon Henley, with all her social media accounts already changed to include WWE in them.

Her first match was earlier this week at the 205 Live tapings, held right after the NXT live broadcast on USA Network. She teamed up with Erica Yan and will face Yulisa Leon and Valentina Feroz in a match that will air on tonight’s episode.

The 27-year-old has been wrestling professionally since 2017 and last year started working with AEW, appearing on Dynamite and also on the Dark shows, although she was not signed to a deal.

She appeared on NXT in September under a different name, losing to Elektra Lopez during the NXT 2.0 relaunch episode.

Ric Flair praises Page/Danielson one-hour match after criticizing Danielson earlier

The one-hour time-limit draw between AEW World champion Hangman Adam Page and Bryan Danielson had its fans and critics, but one particular Hall of Famer who went “broadway” multiple times loved it.

“The Nature Boy” Ric Flair used Twitter to praise both the champion and the challenger following their exhausting match which opened the show last night on Dynamite.

“I’ve done so many hour draws, some great, some average,” Flair wrote. “Tonight, you gentlemen set a new bar,” he continued, saying that the wrestling world can learn from both Page and Danielson.

This was the second time-limit draw for Bryan Danielson in his short AEW career so far. He went to a 30-minute draw with Kenny Omega in a non-title match during Grand Slam Dynamite at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in September. He remains undefeated.

Flair had some criticism of Danielson earlier yesterday during his Wooooo! Nation Uncensored podcast, saying that while he’s very talented and a great performer, he’s not a Kenny Omega or an AJ Styles and credited Triple H for “making” Danielson during their match at WrestleMania XXX.

MJF keeps his diamond ring and takes a shot at Ryback on Dynamite

For the third year in a row, the Dynamite Diamond ring is staying put in the possession of MJF after he defeated Dante Martin yesterday to retain the prize.

The two qualified for the final match after becoming the final two competitors in the 12-man battle royal which took place last week on the show. His previous two wins came against Hangman Page in 2019 and Orange Cassidy in 2020.

MJF, who celebrated his win with fellow Pinnacle members FTR in the main event of Dynamite, was confronted by Sting and Darby Allin, who were later joined by CM Punk to even the odds. All six will now battle in a six-man tag match next week.

MJF was also in the news after he took a cheap shot at former WWE Superstar Ryback during a promo on Dynamite. Before the match started, MJF addressed CM Punk and said, “I didn’t realize that having an undefeated streak in a string of underwhelming matches against underwhelming opponents made you championship material. I thought that just made you the new Ryback!”

Ryback thanked MJF for the shoutout in a post on Twitter. “Now you have your big chance at being an enhancement talent working with an underwhelming opponent,” Ryback fired back, attaching a photo of a beat-up CM Punk in the UFC.

Owens says decision to re-sign with WWE was best for his family

Speaking to Pat Laprade on his podcast for TVA Sports in Canada, Kevin Owens said that his decision to sign with WWE for a few more years was pretty easy because it was the best thing for his family.

“When it comes to that, it’s always a pretty easy decision. WWE has been my home for seven years, so I have a sense of belonging,” Owens said.

Owens added that now he has spent most of his wrestling career there and that’s where he needs to be for the next few years eventually. “That’s how I felt and that’s the decision I made,” he continued.

The former Universal champion has reportedly signed a new three year deal worth between $2 million and $3 million per year according to Dave Meltzer of the Observer, making him one of the best paid in the company.

Owens teased leaving WWE earlier this year on Twitter, posting the co-ordinates to Mount Rushmore, the name of the faction he was a part of with Adam Cole and The Young Bucks in PWG in 2013 and writing “Almost there.”

Brody King signs with All Elite Wrestling

Former ROH talent Brody King has signed a deal with All Elite Wrestling according to the website Bodyslam.net.

King is rumored to be associated with Malakai Black in AEW and a vignette which aired yesterday showed Black with one of his disciples, which could turn out to be King’s introduction to the storyline. King and Black are friends in real life and appeared together at the PWG show Mystery Vortex this past August.

While King was under an ROH deal till the end of the year, the company has allowed anyone who finds a new employment to sign the deal since they will be dropping everyone’s contract at the end of this year.

King, who appeared during the End of an Era ROH pay-per-view this past weekend, also wrestles for New Japan Pro Wrestling. The 34-year-old made his pro wrestling debut in 2015.

Top wrestlers of 2021

The iconic wrestling matches that take place every year come with entertaining performances, adrenaline, and lots of unexpected surprises. Not to mention the best wrestlers that make art from this special sport. In the next article, our team selected the best wrestlers of 2021. If you are passionate about this topic, now is the right moment to learn more about these below stars.

Kenny Omega

Whenever you are gambling at a safe India casino and look for the sportsbook menu, you may find an entire section of upcoming wrestling matches. The odds may be competitive or you may claim a free bet and place your favorite matches on a ticket without any risks. Once you go through the events, you can find matches between Kenny Omega and other professional wrestlers.

No one can deny the incredible year Omega, real name Tyson Smith, had. He spent most of 2021 as the AEW World champion, had many successful title defenses, and even topped the PWI Top 500 list. Omega might be out for a few months due to injuries, but he’ll be back better than ever, picking up right where he left off.

Roman Reigns

WWE Superstar Roman Reigns is joining our top 5 wrestlers of 2021. Just like Kenny Omega, Roman Reigns had an incredible year. His Tribal Chief persona has pretty much carried WWE all the way this year and his pairing with Paul Heyman was a genius idea.

From fantastic matches with Edge and Daniel Bryan, to Cesaro, John Cena, and even Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns has overcome all odds this year, even though sometimes it did require the help of his cousins The Usos and Heyman. There’s no slowing down The Big Dog and a rematch with Lesnar awaits on New Year’s Day.

Bobby Lashley

Bobby Lashley had one of his best years in the wrestling business this year, joining the list of a handful of black WWE champions. Lashley won the WWE title for the first time earlier this year, walked into WrestleMania as champion and walked out of WrestleMania as champion.

Just like with Reigns and Heyman, teaming him up with MVP has done wonders for the former Army Sergeant. Lashley also had high-profile matches against Goldberg at SummerSlam and at Crown Jewel and is back in the WWE title picture, hunting for the gold that he lost against Big E.

Drew McIntyre

The Scottish warrior did most of the heavy lifting during the pandemic era last year and was crowned champion in front of no fans and lost the title in front of no fans.

But after regaining the title, he went on to have a few successful title defenses against Keith Lee, AJ Styles, The Miz, Goldberg, and at Elimination Chamber, only for him to lose it to The Miz after Miz cashed in his briefcase thanks to help from Bobby Lashley. Now, McIntyre is on the Smackdown brand and is gunning for a place in the Universal title picture.

Kota Ibushi

The 39-year-old Japanese sensation wraps up our list of top 5. Ibushi, who believe it or not was once part of the WWE Cruiserweight Classic tournament, started the year by winning the IWGP Heavyweight title during Wrestle Kingdom in January.

After successfully defending both his Heavyweight and Intercontinental titles on night two of Wrestle Kingdom, Ibushi wanted to unify the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental titles, and did so when he beat El Desperado on the 49th NJPW anniversary show earlier this year, making him the inaugural IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. His reign did not last long though as a month later he lost the World title to Will Ospreay.

Conclusion

Did you find your favorite in our top 5 best wrestlers in 2021? If so, make sure to never miss any of their matches and stay tuned for the newest competitions that will take place in 2022. Maybe Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi or other wrestlers will come with outstanding performances in the future or other wrestlers will manage to take away their supremacy.

Kevin Owens signs new multi-year deal with WWE

Kevin Owens has signed a new, multi-year deal with WWE according to multiple industry insiders. The story was originally broken by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Wrestling.

Owens, whose deal was coming up in a matter of weeks, teased leaving the company earlier last month during Raw. Addressing fans in a segment with both Big E and Seth Rollins, he said, “It might be for three more months or three more years, but every time I’m on WWE Raw, I’ll give the fans something to remember.”

The former Universal champion had not signed his new deal back last month and it’s believed he got a big-money offer to stay in WWE.

Owens has been signed to a WWE deal since 2014, spending a year in NXT before he made his main roster debut.

Tony Khan hints at more arrivals over the next few weeks

Speaking to DAZN, AEW President Tony Khan dropped hints that more arrivals are coming to All Elite Wrestling, maybe starting with tomorrow’s Winter is Coming special on Dynamite.

Last year, the first-ever Winter is Coming episode saw the arrival of The Icon Sting and a title changing hands with Kenny Omega beating Jon Moxley with the help of Don Callis.

“I’m more than aware that there’s a number of free agents out there, wrestlers I admire too, but I’ve got to say that you just have to keep watching over these next few weeks and not just Winter is Coming,” Khan told DAZN.

Pay-per-views and themed episodes of Dynamite are known to bring in a surprise or two and fans have become accustomed to that nowadays, sometimes feeling disappointed if there are no surprises.

Khan said that with the upcoming Holiday Bash, New Year’s Smash, and Battle of the Belts, he wants the company to run shows that fans cannot miss.

“I think these next few weeks are going to be really exciting for fans of wrestling,” Khan said.

In a prior interview, Khan also said it would be impossible to sign every free agent in the business and with the amount of firings from WWE, the talent pool available is very large.

Perhaps the biggest free agent right now is Windham Rotunda, better known to fans as Bray Wyatt.

Matt Hardy thinks WWE fired brother Jeff prematurely

During a Twitch stream yesterday, Matt Hardy said that WWE might have released his brother Jeff a bit prematurely and asked fans to wait until the drug tests come back.

Matt said that WWE probably felt like they were backed into a corner due to Jeff’s past history with similar situation and that led to his release. “Even though they may have jumped the gun with this a little bit, they made a decision and it is what it is,” Matt said during the stream.

Matt added that his brother refused to go to rehab because he did not think he needed to go and he didn’t think so either, saying that Jeff is in the best place he has seen him in a very long time.

“As far as the details of what went down on that evening and in that match, I’ve talked with Jeff…I feel good about everything he said and that’s Jeff’s story to share. And he told me he will when he’s ready to,” he said.
