WWE Hall Of Famer Ron Simmons will be the next guest on the Stone Cold Steve Austin Broken Skull Session series. The show will premiere on Friday, February 18 on the eve of the Elimination Chamber on Peacock and WWE Network.
His interview ties with WWE’s Black History Month celebration and this is the first time that Simmons will be doing an in-depth interview about his career on WWE television.
Before joining WWE and finding fortune as part of the APA, Simmons was the first African American WCW champion and is often referred to by WWE as the first black world champion in pro wrestling.
This will be the 24th episode of the Broken Skull Session series. The last guest was Becky Lynch for an episode that aired in late January.
During a Twitch stream yesterday, Matt Hardy explained why his brother Jeff refused to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
After Jeff was released from WWE, the former champion received a call to see if he agrees to be inducted into the Hall of Fame this April. Jeff refused, but now Matt gave a detailed reason why.
According to Matt, Jeff asked WWE if the induction was going to be him and Matt as the Hardy Boyz together. The answer was obviously no because Matt is under an AEW deal and he can’t appear on WWE television.
“And Jeff said ‘well, that’s a hard no.’ He definitely stood up for the team of the Hardy Boyz,” Matt said.
Meanwhile, speculation is running rampant that Jeff will be the one appearing tomorrow as the one entering the forbidden door and slamming it shut. Tony Khan’s wording means that whoever is coming in will not be going back to his previous workplace anytime soon, hinting at burning bridges.
Matt said that he doesn’t think it will be Jeff who will be appearing but said that Tony Khan has a lot of money and wouldn’t be shocked if Tony bought out Jeff’s remaining contract to appear on Wednesday.
“Maybe he bought out his contract. And maybe it is happening early. Who knows,” Matt said.
Jeff Hardy is still part of the 90-day no-compete as he was released in early December.
A women’s Elimination Chamber match will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia as six women will be fighting for the right to face the Raw Women’s champion at WrestleMania.
Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, Liv Morgan, Doudrop, and Nikki A.S.H. have so far been announced for the match and a sixth and final participant is currently a mystery entry.
The winner of this match will wrestle either Becky Lynch or Lita – whomever the Raw Women’s champion will be after Elimination Chamber – at WrestleMania 38 in Dallas, Texas.
This is the sixth match announced for the Elimination Chamber with two weeks to go.

Eddie Kingston is raring to go but AEW doctors are not giving him the green light yet even though he’d be up for it if they sign off on him now.
Appearing on the WrestleTalk podcast, Kingston said that he suffered a similar injury before when he was on the independents and is used to sucking it up and make the next town the next day.
But that’s now things work in AEW and a fractured orbital bone is no laughing matter. Kingston was injured earlier last month and has not appeared on television ever since.
“I’m ready to go right now, if the doctors would clear me, I would go. I would just have to protect the whole time,” Kingston said during the podcast. “Blew my nose to my eye…swelled up.”
Kingston recounted how he asked the AEW doc if it was okay if he “cut it,” referring to his indie days when he cut his swelling to get the blood out and then return to work a few days later, but that genius idea was quickly shot down and he was ordered to go get checked properly.
Acknowledging that there’s nothing to do to make the injury heal quicker, he said he’s getting better every day and mentally as well, not just physically. “Put ice on it and rest up,” Kingston continued. “There’s nothing I can really do.”
Injuries can happen to any athlete at any time. But by following these tips, you can help reduce your chances of experiencing a sports injury and ending up in an urgent care center. Here are some of the most common sports injuries and their respective causes:
Runner’s Knee
Runner’s knee is caused by overuse of the knee joint, leading to pain, swelling, and stiffness. Other causes include a previous injury to the knee, flat feet, and high arches.
Treatment: Because a runner’s knee is a common sports injury, there are multiple treatment options such as taking some rest from running, reducing the duration and intensity of the workout, applying ice packs to reduce pain and swelling, taking anti-inflammatory medications, wearing a brace for support, or seeking physical therapy.
Lower Back Pain
Many activities can cause lower back pain, such as heavy lifting, bad posture when sitting or standing, arthritis, or degenerative disk disease.
Treatment: Depending on the severity of the lower back pain, treatment can consist of rest, applying ice packs, taking medications such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen, and wearing a brace.
Shoulder Pain
A shoulder injury can be caused by a tear of the rotator cuff, weak muscles in the shoulder, or tendinitis. This is one of the more common sports injuries because it is easy to injure and somewhat hard to prevent.
Treatment: Shoulder injuries can be treated by avoiding the activity that caused the damage, taking anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen, and receiving physical therapy.
Swimmer’s Ear
Swimmer’s ear is caused by water that gets trapped in the ear canal, leading to irritation and pain. It is most common among those who frequently swim in pools with poorly maintained water.
Treatment: This can be treated with warm compresses, antibiotic ointment, and over-the-counter pain relievers. Another way to avoid a swimmer’s ear is to wear earplugs, but make sure they are the right size and labeled “wax-less.”
Shin Splints
Shin splints are a common injury in runners and are caused by overuse of the shin muscles. This can lead to pain, inflammation, and muscle weakness.
Treatment: Rest, ice packs, wearing a brace or wrap for support, and physical therapy are options for treating shin splints. You could also reduce the intensity and duration of your workout or switch to another form of exercise.
Tennis Elbow
The tennis elbow is an inflammation of the tendons that attach the forearm muscles to the elbow. It is caused by the overuse of the muscles in the forearm and elbow.
Treatment: Some treatment options include getting some rest, using ice packs, using a compression bandage, taking medications such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen, and seeing physical therapy.
Achilles Tendinitis
This injury is caused by overuse of the Achilles tendon, leading to pain, inflammation, and partial tears. Plus, this injury can result from increasing the intensity and duration of workouts too quickly.
Treatment: Resting, icing the area for 20 minutes 3-4 times a day, wearing a brace for support, and physical therapy are all options for treating Achilles tendinitis.
Concussions
A concussion is caused by a traumatic impact on the head, damaging the brain. Symptoms of a concussion include headache, nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, slurred speech, dizziness, and fatigue.
Treatment: Treatment depends on the severity of the concussion but should be started as soon as possible to avoid serious complications such as brain damage. Rest, ice packs, avoiding physical activity that causes symptoms to worsen, and taking medications are just some treatment options for a concussion.
Tips on How to Avoid Common Sports Injuries
It might be impossible to tell when and where you’ll get injured, but that doesn’t mean you can’t try. Here are some tips for staying injury-free:
Warm-up and cool-down properly before and after exercising. This will help prevent injuries caused by overuse and poor blood flow, such as tendinitis.
Stretch regularly before and after exercising to increase flexibility and improve your range of motion, reducing the risk of injury.
Drink plenty of water before, during, and after exercising. Dehydration can lead to many injuries, so make sure you are always well hydrated.
Eat a well-balanced diet before, during, and after exercising to allow proper energy, strength, and endurance.
Wear the proper equipment for your activity, which will help to prevent injuries caused by wearing the wrong gear.
Listen to your body. If you feel any pain or discomfort during or after exercising, this could signify an injury, and it is crucial to stop and rest.
Rest when needed. This will help prevent overuse injuries caused by working the same muscles too often.
Suppose you do experience an injury, rest. This will allow your body to recover and heal itself thoroughly. Don’t rush back into exercising too soon, which could only re-injuring the muscles and cause further damage. Instead, find an alternate form of exercise for when you return to your routine.
Monday Night Raw will not be on USA Network tonight and will instead air on SyFy due to NBCU’s ongoing coverage of the Winter Olympics from Beijing.
This is the first time that USA Network has bumped Raw for other programming since it returned to the channel in 2005 and will be doing so again next week as well. USA will air Luge and Speed Skating tonight at 8:30PM and 9:45PM instead.
Raw is expected to take a hit in the viewership both today and next week due to the channel move. The only things announced for tonight’s show are Riddle vs Seth Rollins, a segment involving Lita, and a Quiz Bowl between RK-Bro and Alpha Academy.
Those who DVR the show might have to put in another entry for the next two weeks on SyFy as most likely series recording will not automatically switch to the new channel.
AEW’s Bryan Danielson has been announced as part of the ROH Hall of Fame inaugural class of 2022.
The former WWE champion joined Ring of Honor in 2002 and is considered as one of the “founding fathers” of the company, having competed in the first main event of ROH along with Christopher Daniels and Low Ki.
Danielson worked for ROH for seven years before he departed the indie promotion to work for WWE in late 2009. He last wrestled for ROH in September 2009, winning his match against Nigel McGuinness at Glory by Honor VIII: The Final Countdown.
The man known as the American Dragon now joins Jay and Mark Briscoe of the Briscoe Brothers as inductees into the newly-created Hall of Fame. Additional names will be announced on February 14 and 21.
UFC Vegas 47 was a good card up and down, but one of the better fights overall happened on the preliminary card as we saw featherweights “Mean” Hakeem Dawodu square up against Mike Trizano. Dawodu was coming off a unanimous decision loss against Movsar Evloev back on UFC 263 and had a record of 12-2-1. Trizano was coming off winning the Ultimate Fighter and was 10-1 after defeating Ludovit Klein on UFC Fight Night: Rodriguez vs. Waterson in a unanimous decision as well.
According to some Mississippi betting apps, like BetMGM, Dawodu was listed at -185, while Trizano was the underdog at +150. Trizano had the height advantage, but Dawodu had the reach advantage by two inches.
Dawodu dominated the first round of this fight as he was applying pressure with his calf kicks and a straight right to complement it. On the other side, it seemed as if Trizano was struggling to add anything to his jab. It was clear that Round 1 of this fight would be scored in favor of Hakeem Dawodu.
In the second round, Dawodu continued to attack the body of Trizano. Trizano was more on the attack in this round, attempting to get some combinations going, but every time he attempted to step forward, “Mean” Hakeem was there to hit him with a big shot. The selection that Dawodu put on display was a primary reason why the judges’ scorecards favored him heading into the final five-minute round.
In the third and final round, Trizano knew he had to bring the pressure to attempt to corral the win here, but Dawodu was able to clinch the bigger fighter and slow the pace down. Trizano was able to score a takedown and went for a rear-naked choke, but Dawodu could spin out and get back to his feet to avoid the move. Once the fighters were back on their feet, Dawodu continued their attack, but Trizano had his way in the final moments. Unfortunately for him, it just was not enough to get the finish. The final result was Hakeem Dowadu defeating Mike Trizano by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
This fight showed the ability of “Mean” Hakeem Dawodu to continue showcasing his skills and prove he can be on the main card very soon. He had an even distribution of his significant strikes land as 42 percent were to the head, 36 percent to the body, and 20 percent to the legs. Trizano focused more on the knockout as he was forced to in the last round, as 51 percent of his significant strikes were to the head.
Dawodu has shown the ability to last the entire 15 minutes and dominate as six of his last seven fights went all 15 minutes, with the other ending with under a minute in the third round. He just needs to figure out how to add the knockout power or the ability to submit fighters if he wants to advance to the main card.
Trizano has now lost two of his last three fights and is 2-2 since the conclusion of The Ultimate Fighter. He went the distance in three of those fights but could not get control as he landed just 3.54 significant strikes per minute. He needs to regroup because he cannot afford to eat too many more losses. Otherwise, his UFC career will be over before he has the chance to get started.
This was a good fight, but most of it was just Hakeem Dawodu taking advantage of Mike Trizano due to Dawodu’s aggressive nature and experience inside a UFC octagon. Dawodu has a chance to find his way up the card soon if he can continue producing performances similar to what he did on Saturday.
When Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson says he’s the hardest-working man in sports and entertainment, well, he isn’t lying.
Fresh from his work for the Winter Olympics opening movie this past weekend, the former WWE champion has another important event lined up: the NFL Super Bowl.
“After all these years, my football dream of standing on the SUPER BOWL field has FINALLY…come true,” Johnson wrote on Twitter. “This will historic. This will be my honor. This will be ELECTRIFYING,” he continued, but he did not elaborate what he will be doing at the biggest sporting event in the United States.
“I’ll see you THIS SUNDAY! LFG,” The Rock added.
Johnson, along with his two business partners, have taken over the XFL from Vince McMahon and are targeting a launch in 2023.
Both Royal Rumble winners Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey have been added to the non-televised live event at Madison Square Garden on March 5.
Ticket sales for the show had a disastrous start and there’s already a 4-pack offer where you buy three tickets and get one for free.
The addition of Lesnar and Rousey will hopefully spark a bit more interest in the show and will lead to a bump in ticket sales.
WWE has had difficulty selling Madison Square Garden lately and their last show there in December 2021 had a largely empty arena with only a few thousands in attendance.
Tickets for the MSG show start at $31 and go up to over $700 plus taxes and fees.
The February 18 episode of AEW Rampage will air at an earlier time on TNT due to NBA All-Star Weekend programming on the network.
On that day, Rampage will kick off at 7PM ET, three hours earlier than usual, and will finish just before Smackdown starts on FOX. The show will return to its usual time slot of 10PM ET the following week.
Rampage last aired in a different time slot and date on Christmas when TNT moved the show from Christmas Eve to Christmas Day because of their annual Christmas marathon. The show, headlined by Rhodes vs Guevara for the TNT title, pulled in nearly 600,000 viewers despite the holiday.
Last week, WWE Hall Of Famer Kurt Angle said on his podcast that he will be part of a month-long program on television leading up to WrestleMania.
Unfortunately for Angle, that has completely changed and now he said WWE canceled the whole program.
“I went to the Royal Rumble. WWE wanted me to do a short program that they ended up canceling at the last second,” Angle said on his podcast.
The Olympic gold medalist said he was excited about being back on television although he admitted he wasn’t sure what the full plan was.
“I want to make it clear, I’m not signed with the WWE. They weren’t going to sign me anyway, it was going to be a three week program and it got canceled.”
In an interview with the LA Times, Jackass star Johnny Knoxville hinted at more WWE appearances in the future.
Asked if he’s planning to keep on wrestling after he’s done promoting the movie Jackass Forever, Knoxville said that it seems like he has “no choice” because of that coward Sami Zayn.
“I’m going to have to get even. If you saw me in the ring, you’re going to see Sami Zayn flying out of the ring,” Knoxville said.
The interviewer pointed out that that he had some head injuries and was advised that he should not take any more blows to the head and take it easy, so continuing to appear for WWE and getting in the ring is the complete opposite of that.
“Those guys don’t impress me. That’s nothing compared to my day job. The WWE has some really tough female wrestlers, but the male wrestlers, not so tough,” Knoxville joked.
Keith Lee and Stephanie Bell, better known to fans as former NXT star Mia Yim, tied the knot yesterday.
Nixon Newell, who was in attendance at the wedding, published a photo of the two dancing on her Instagram Stories and later Yim posted a photo herself. “HappiLee Ever After. Thank you everyone and all the loved ones that was there to help make this day magical. I am proud and lucky to finally be Mrs. Lee. I love you @RealKeithLee,” she wrote.
This is the first marriage for Lee, 37, and Bell, 32, and the two had been engaged for almost a year.
Both were released from WWE during the same time and their 90-day no-compete clause expired this week, meaning that they can show up anywhere on television now.
Former WWE Superstar Nia Jax continued to make headlines after she wrote on Twitter that she knows many people in many professional sports who paid a doctor to get a COVID-19 vaccine card instead of actually taking the vaccine.
Jax, real name Lina Fanene, replied to a fan saying she stands by her comment about trusting her immune system more than any COVID-19 vaccine.
“Honey, if you really think that all your favorites don’t feel the same as I do, you’re sadly mistaken,” she wrote. “I know a lot of people in many professional sports that just paid & got a real card from a doctor..sooooo.”
The former Raw Women’s champion has been getting hassled lately on social media as trolls keep up their attacks about her injuring a lot of people during her run in WWE.
“There’s a support group starting for all the trolls who want to give me their opinion, its called ‘Eat shit you loser and get a life,'” she then wrote.
This week’s episode of Impact Wrestling on AXS TV drew 114,000 viewers, down 68,000 viewers from last week’s broadcast. The show did a 0.02 in the 18-49 demo, down 0.03 from the prior week and did not chart. (Ratings credit: Showbuzzdaily.com)
