17-year-old Nick Wayne accepts AEW contract

17-year-old Nick Wayne had a surprise yesterday as after he lost a match against Christopher Daniels during the Defy Wrestling Year 5 event, Darby Allin appeared and brought along with him an AEW contract.

As Wayne sold his injuries, Allin said he had a contract for him to sign and threw him the microphone. The fans chanted “Yes” and “You deserve it” and after a few more seconds milking the crowd, Wayne responded in the affirmative.

Darby and Wayne then hugged in the middle of the ring as they celebrated.

Wayne is also a regular with Game Changer Wrestling and other independent promotions.

Tony Khan on Shane McMahon: “I’d certainly take the call”

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, AEW President Tony Khan was asked if he would entertain the idea of having Shane McMahon come over to AEW since he’s no longer part of WWE.

Khan, while admitting he doesn’t know if Shane would be a fit in his company, said he’d obviously answer the phone if McMahon called to talk.

“I’d certainly take the call. I’m sure he’d be an interesting person to talk to about wrestling,” Khan noted. “I’m not sure exactly if he would be a fit. I have not heard from him, and I don’t expect to hear from him, but in this business, you never know!”

McMahon was sent home by his father after the Royal Rumble following a lot of complaints he received. Shane was one of the producers of the men’s Rumble match and tried to make a lot of changes, including some which benefited himself, all of which were ultimately overruled by his dad. Shane was supposed to be a part of Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania before he was told his services were no longer required.

Two WrestleMania ads to air during NFL Super Bowl

PWInsider.com broke the news that WWE will have two WrestleMania commercials airing during the Super Bowl this Sunday. A later report by Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics said that one spot will be a 30-second commercial which will air during the pre-show and the other one will be a 15-second commercial airing during the game.

NBC, this year’s broadcaster, said in a statement last week that it sold out of all its Super Bowl ad spots, with 30-second ads during the game going for a record $7 million each. Considering WWE’s longstanding relationship with NBC Universal and the fact that WrestleMania will air on Peacock, it’s likely that WWE either got a discount or it’s splitting the bill.

The network is estimated to be getting around $500 million in advertising revenue for in-game ads according to CNN Business. The Super Bowl is notorious for having some amazing adverts during the game, some of which go viral.

This is not the first time that WWE has done a Super Bowl commercial. In 1999, the WWE commercial was a big hit among fans which showed Superstars walking through Titan Towers wrecking havoc and ended with one person being thrown off the tower through an open window. WWE’s biggest stars including Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Undertaker, Kane, Mankind, and others were featured.

Third women’s match added to Elimination Chamber 2022

A third women’s match has been added to the Elimination Chamber premium live event in Saudi Arabia featuring the team of Ronda Rousey and Naomi taking on Charlotte Flair and Sonya Deville.

The angle was shot after an excellent main event on Smackdown last night where Flair beat Naomi to retain the Smackdown Women’s title in a hard fought match. Sonya Deville, who earlier tried to suspend Rousey but was shot down by Vince McMahon, taunted Naomi following her loss and Naomi had enough and beat up on Deville.

Flair returned to the ring to help Naomi and the two took her down. At that point, Ronda’s music hit to a thunderous pop from the crowd and Rousey sprinted to the ring to clean house. She was about to put Deville in another armbar but Flair pulled her out. Naomi and Ronda then hugged in the ring as the show faded to black.

After the show was over, WWE’s social media announced the tag team match which now brings the total number of women matches in Jeddah to three and the total number of women performers on the show to 12, which both are a record for a show in Saudi Arabia.

Goldberg advertised to appear on Smackdown tonight

With one week to go for Elimination Chamber, Goldberg will be appearing on Smackdown tonight live from New Orleans to progress his program with the Universal champion Roman Reigns.

The Smackdown Women’s title will also be on the line as Charlotte Flair defends against Naomi and Natalya will battle Aliyah in a Dungeon Style match.

The number one contender for the Intercontinental title, Sami Zayn, will host his In-Zayn segment with Shinsuke Nakamura and Rick Boogs as guests.

Tonight’s Smackdown from the Smoothie King Center will be a double taping as WWE is also recording next Friday’s show since they won’t be able to do it live due to traveling to Saudi Arabia for the Elimination Chamber.

AQA signs with AEW

AQA, who wrestled Jade Cargill for the TBS title this past Wednesday on Dynamite, was signed to a deal with AEW.

The news was announced by Tony Khan on social media who wrote, “She’s a shooting star, and now @_AQA10 is All Elite,” along with the usual graphic.

AQA, real name Angela Arnold, is best known for her time in NXT under the name of Zayda Ramier. She last wrestled for NXT in June of last year where she teamed up with Zoey Stark to take on Candice LaRae and Indi Hartwell. She was released from WWE in November of last year.

Arnold was trained by Booker T at his pro wrestling school and often appeared on the Reality of Wrestling television shows. She also had a few matches with Impact Wrestling over the years.

Keith Lee becomes fifth former NXT champion to join AEW

The arrival of Keith Lee in All Elite Wrestling marked the fifth former NXT champion to jump ship to the Jacksonville-based promotion since it started operating in 2019.

The Texas native had an impressive debut on Dynamite this week, showcasing his raw power in a match against Isiah Kassidy and the fans in Atlantic City basked in his glory.

Lee now joins PAC, Malakai Black, Andrade El Idolo, and Adam Cole as former NXT champions who now find themselves performing for the competition. Lee and Cole were two individuals who lived the “Wednesday night war” between NXT and Dynamite from 2019 up until April 2021.

Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly are also former NXT Tag Team champions who with Cole and Lee went through the whole rivalry between the two brands and are back together on the other side. FTR are the other former NXT Tag Team champions who are on the AEW roster too.

Lita discusses getting the call to face Becky Lynch

In an interview with the Ring The Belle podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer Lita said that her Royal Rumble appearance was supposed to be a one-and-done deal but Sunday she got a call from John Laurinaitis to see if she would be interested in working with Becky Lynch.

When Lita asked when, Laurinaitis said, “How about in two weeks?” to which she answered, “Uh! No! But yes!”

Lita said that this match is truly a “generational-clashing” one and both are cut from the same cloth, adding that she saw a lot of Becky in herself when she started.

Lita’s previous comments about criticizing WWE for going to Saudi Arabia were also brought up in the same interview. Several years ago, the former champ said that WWE’s deal with Saudi was a “direct conflict of interest” to any integrity the company had when it came to pushing women.

Since then, WWE managed to convince the Saudis to have women matches on their cards and Elimination Chamber will have two women’s matches and eight women featured in total, a record.

Lita said she didn’t believe it when WWE said they’re working on getting women on the card in their Saudi live events but now it’s different.

“There are women on the card and I’ve talked to the women personally that have been over there,” Lita responded. “They are like, ‘It’s unbelievable, there are women crying, never thinking they would get to see two women be so strong in the ring. It’s really powerful…you’re going to enjoy that.'”

Becky Lynch and Lita featured on huge billboards in Saudi for Elimination Chamber

WWE’s Becky Lynch and Lita are featured on the billboards for Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia, the first time that females have been in the spotlight for a WWE event in the super conservative country.

WWE has come a long way from their first-ever show in the country which featured zero women and worked tirelessly with the Saudi GSA to feature their female Superstars in their events.

It took a couple of shows to get going and WWE faced major criticism about the exclusion of women during the women’s revolution period but eventually this time around WWE will feature a total of eight women on the show in two different matches.

WWE called the promotional material as “landmark billboards” which “present a major cultural milestone in Saudi Arabia.”

Recently, Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey were both added to the show in a bid to boost some ticket sales which saw the show getting a very slow start in that department.

Brock Lesnar will be facing Bobby Lashley for the WWE title which suggests that one of those two will win the Elimination Chamber match next week while Ronda Rousey will tag team with Sasha Banks to take on Charlotte Flair and Natalya.

Roman Reigns will defend his Universal title against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair, and Rhea Ripley will have a triple threat match for the Raw Women’s title.

Card is obviously, as always, subject to change.

With a baby in tow, Rousey will be traveling for all the Smackdown live events, including those non-televised, in the month of March and will also work the rest of the Smackdown TV tapings in February.

The former Raw Women’s champion returned at the Royal Rumble and won the women’s event, securing her ticket to Dallas for WrestleMania 35. She picked Charlotte Flair as her opponent a few days later.

Rousey will not be traveling to Saudi Arabia for Elimination Chamber as both women’s matches are part of the Raw brand.

The baddest woman on the planet has agreed for a full year-run with WWE going through next year’s WrestleMania in Los Angeles.

Several AEW contracts coming up, Khan says he can’t renew them all

In an interview with TVInsider.com to promote last night’s Dynamite, AEW President Tony Khan said that several contracts of those individuals who signed on day one are coming up and he can’t renew all of them.

“I have really tried hard to be very considerate of the people on the roster, especially going through the pandemic,” Khan said, noting that he kept everyone paid while the other promotion was cutting people left and right during a rough time for professional wrestling.

“I kept a lot of people under contract even though I wasn’t necessarily using them on television because I wanted them to still have paying work, which was hard to come by for wrestling during the pandemic where there weren’t any independent shows,” Khan explained. “I did want to give some job security to people.”

But with the pandemic nearly over and things back in full swing again with a lot of new wrestlers coming in, Khan said he is not in a position to renew all the deals coming up and some will be eventually let go.

“I’ve had to make some tough choices based on ability, fan response, or both. I try to maintain the best roster I can for the company and fans,” Khan concluded.

How does a bong work?

A bong certainly looks as fascinating as it works. Bongs date back thousands of years, with archeological excavations showing that the bongs were used by Iranian-Eurasian tribes about 2,400 years back. They were introduced to China during the late Ming dynasty in the 16th century approximately through Persia and the Silk Road.

With time, bongs underwent many changes with advances in technology and are available in various shapes and sizes today. However, glass pipes are most popular because of durability, easy maintenance, and other factors.

If you come across a bong for sale and decide to purchase it, you must know about its various parts and how it works to get the best experience.

What are the different parts of a bong?

The structure of a bong is more complicated than it seems, and it consists of several parts found in all bongs, regardless of their size and shape. What sets them apart are the chambers that serve the function of filtering and cooling water.

  • Bowl piece

A bowl piece is one of the most vital parts of the bong because that is where you stuff your product after grinding it. Most of them have a hole at the bottom, with most people preferring a smaller one because it stops the product from scattering.

  • Ash catcher

This device catches the ash from the bowl piece when it drops. It is a simple glass attachment that prevents ash from entering your mouth and your bong. Some also have built-in percolators, which filter and cool the smoke thoroughly. Even if you do not clean the bong regularly, it is essential to clean the ash catcher after a few uses to ensure it doesn’t interfere with the tobacco or herb’s flavor.

  • Joint

Joint is referred to as the part of the bong that holds down the stem. Joints are either male or female but suitable for you, depending on what material you smoke. These are usually available in three sizes: 10 millimeters, 14 millimeters, and 18 millimeters.

  • Down stem

The down stem refers to the bridge between the bowl and water placed in the main chamber of the bong. They are available in different styles and serve various functions. However, the most basic of them resembles a glass straw with a hole at the end that causes bubbling. You will also come across more developed stems with in-built percolators to further cool the smoke. When you use a glass bong, it is better to use a plastic clip to keep the stem firmly attached to the bong. You will find the stem and bowl in one piece in some bongs, called slides.

  • Percolator

The job of a percolator is filtering the smoke several times after it passes the water at the stem’s end. Even though there are different percolators, you must pick one based on your requirements. It is better to select ones without too many holes because once the holes are clogged after several uses, it will affect the quality of the smoke.

  • Splash guard

You will find splash guards in bongs with heavy percolation. It is an insert made of quartz which prevents the water from splashing upwards and outside the mouthpiece. They are available in various shapes. Splash guards usually have three spikes of glass whose job is to cool the air before it reaches the top of the bong.

  • Mouthpiece

Although the mouthpiece occupies the last position in this list, it will be the first thing you notice in a bong. It is situated right at the top and is the place from which the smoke enters your lungs. Mouthpieces were exclusively horizontally-shaped until a few years ago but are now angled in a way that prevents you from hunching while taking a drag.

Knowing the parts of a bong will help you the next time you see a bong for sale. It will also help you have a more relaxed, enjoyable, and exciting smoking experience.

Ric Flair calls Becky Lynch just “generic,” Lynch responds in typical fashion

Ric Flair took another shot at Becky Lynch during his podcast this week, calling her just “generic” and criticizing her for calling Ronda Rousey “Ronnie” in her feud.

“She’s not Ronnie. She’s Ronda Rousey. Anybody that’s stupid enough to call her Ronnie and make a joke of her presence and what she brings to the company is out of their mind,” Flair said, mentioning Becky as an example but saying “what is her name now” as a diss.

Flair added, “How about, ‘Thank you, Ronda, for showing up because I’m not The Man anymore. I’m generic. Who am I? Big Time Becks? The Lass Kicker? I don’t know.’”

Ric’s opinion on Lynch made a 180 after she started using The Man, something that WWE owns as a trademark but Flair insists that he still owns it despite selling the trademark a few years ago to the company and the entry of the trademark lists WWE as the owners.

After Ric’s comments, Lynch didn’t hold back and wrote on social media, “Work so hard your heroes become your rivals. Then, become so good, Ric Flair loses his mind every time you breathe.”

Tony Khan admits he had to scramble after “butchering” his definition of Forbidden Door

AEW President Tony Khan admitted that he screwed up his own definition of the Forbidden Door when he sent the tweet last week and had to scramble to secure the services of Jay White.

Khan’s definition of the Forbidden Door is a wrestler who is contracted to another promotion who shows up in AEW as well and his surprise signing, Keith Lee, was a free agent and not tied to WWE or anyone else. That would not have classified Lee as a “forbidden door” arrival.

“I realized after the fact that Friday night I butchered my own definition of Forbidden Door in hyping tonight,” Khan wrote in a tweet. “I heard the fans’ feedback, & wanted to ensure that tonight was a special #AEWDynamite for all. Thank you everyone who watched!”

Last week, Khan claimed that someone is coming in and “slamming the door shut” on his previous employer. The vague wording ended up being nothing however as Lee was a free agent already.

NXT rating for 02/08/2022

It was a rough night for NXT this week as the channel switch and Olympics killed a big portion of the already-small audience. NXT on SyFy pulled in just 400,000 viewers, down 219,000 viewers from the previous week. The show did a 0.07 in the 18-49 demo, down 0.06 as well and finished in #77 on the cable chart for the night. Both numbers were a record low for NXT. (Ratings credit: Showbuzzdaily.com)
