Samoa Joe signs with AEW, appears at ROH’s Supercard of Honor

Former NXT champion Samoa Joe has signed with All Elite Wrestling and last night appeared on the ROH Supercard of Honor show as a surprise to close the broadcast.

Joe, who has not wrestled since winning the NXT title from Karrion Kross last year, was the surprise that Tony Khan hinted, coming out at the end to save new unified champion Jonathan Gresham.

After the show, Khan tweeted the usual “is All Elite” graphic for Samoa Joe and revealed that he will be on Dynamite this coming Wednesday.

Joe was released from WWE in January of this year after getting rehired nine months earlier by Triple H for NXT.

Brian Cage returns at ROH’s Supercard of Honor

Former FTW champion Brian Cage made his return today and showed up as Tully Blanchard’s newest client at the ROH Supercard of Honor.

Cage took on Ninja Mack during the show and quickly won the match with his finishing move.

We have not seen Cage on television since October 2021 and the last time he was on AEW TV was when he lost the FTW title to Ricky Starks. Cage recently renewed his AEW deal so he will be sticking around for a while.

The Supercard of Honor had a very heavy AEW influence as one might have expected, including the production team and referees.

Lynch says Rousey hasn’t reached the level of her first WWE stint yet

Speaking to Ariel Helwani for BT Sport, Raw Women’s champion Becky Lynch said that Ronda Rousey has not reached the level from her first WWE stint yet and will need more time.

Lynch remarked that Ronda coming back just four months after having a child was “an incredible task and an incredible feat” but not being an in-ring veteran didn’t help Rousey in her return.

Talking about WWE not giving fans Lynch vs Rousey, Becky said that it’s the biggest match it could happen but she thinks the thinking process behind it was not give it right out of the gate.

“Also, let her get her feet wet, let her get used to this life again. Let her get used to doing this which she hadn’t had a whole bunch of experience with before in the first place and then you add a baby into that mix,” Lynch told Helwani.

Khan tells fans to stick “until the end” of tonight’s Ring of Honor show

Tony Khan was being the usual Tony Khan when appearing on Busted Open Radio, hinting at a big surprise that will close the Ring of Honor show tonight in Dallas.

Khan urged fans and viewers at home to stick around “until the end of this one,” hinting at something that fans would like and enjoy. He also said there are several “fun stuff” planned for throughout the show.

The AEW President and new ROH owner also said that William Regal will be in attendance tonight and will be watching Wheeler Yuta as he wrestles for the ROH TV title.

ROH’s Supercard of Honor airs on FITE.TV.

The Weeknd with third WrestleMania theme in a row

WWE loves The Weeknd! For the first time ever, a song from the same artist has been chosen as the theme song for WrestleMania for the third consecutive year.

At WrestleMania 36, The Weeknd song Blinding Lights was selected as the theme for coronavirus-hit WrestleMania. That was the first – and so far – only taped WrestleMania to be held in an empty arena at the WWE Performance Center.

Blinding Lights was the second single from his fourth studio album, After Hours, and was released in December 2020. The song ranked #1 in multiple countries and remains a big hit.

A year later, his song Save Your Tears was selected as the theme of WrestleMania 37 live from Tampa. This was the first WWE event in front of an audience in 13 months.

Save Your Tears is a song also from his fourth studio album, After Hours, and was released in November 2020. The song ranked #1 in multiple countries and just like Blinding Lights, remains very popular as well.

The theme song for WrestleMania 38 is called Sacrifice. Sacrifice is the second single from his fifth studio album titled Dawn FM. It was released in the United States in January 2022 and hit #11 in the Billboard Top 100 chart.

Maybe The Weeknd is available for next year’s WrestleMania in LA as well!

Impact Multiverse of Matches live tonight on FITE

Impact Wrestling will be presenting its own WrestleMania weekend show in Dallas titled Multiverse of Matches live from the Fairmont Hotel as part of WrestleCon.

The event will start at 10PM ET and will be airing live on FITE.TV. Tickets for the show are still available for those who are interested in attending.

The full card is as follows:

Tenille Dashwood and Madison Rayne vs Tasha Steelz and Savannah Evans vs Gisele Shaw and Lady Frost vs Rosemary and Havok for the Knockouts World Tag Team titles; Trey Miguel vs Chris Bey vs Vincent vs Rich Swann vs Willie Mack vs Jordynne Grace in an Ultimate X match for the X Division title; Deonna Purrazzo in an open challenge for either the AAA Reina de Reinas title or ROH Women’s World title; Chelsea Green and Matt Cardona vs Mickie James and Nick Aldis; Josh Alexander and Jonah vs Moose and PCO; Good Brothers vs Briscoe Brothers; Eddie Edwards vs Tomohiro Ishii; Chris Sabin vs Jay White; and Alex Shelley vs “Speedball” Mike Bailey.

Early betting odds for WrestleMania 38 night one top matches

NXT Stand & Deliver is not the only show set for tomorrow as WrestleMania night one takes place later in the day.

We’ll take a look at the current early odds for the top three matches of the Saturday card and tomorrow afternoon we will publish the updated odds for the full card. If you are located in Asia and likes to play online, check out สล็อต pg as well.

Charlotte Flair vs Ronda Rousey is one of the two women’s title matches set for Saturday. Rousey, who won the Royal Rumble, is the clear favorite to win the Smackdown Women’s title tomorrow with her odds at 1/8 while Charlotte Flair is 4/1 to retain.

Will we see two title changes? Well, bookmakers think so. In the Raw Women’s title match, it’s Bianca Belair who is the favorite to win the match and is 2/7 in odds while Big Time Becks is at 9/4 to keep the strap.

Who will be facing Seth Rollins tomorrow? Everyone thinks it’s going to be Cody Rhodes and Cody is currently 2/13 the favorite to beat Rollins who is at 7/2 in his first WWE match in six years.

Roman Reigns gets his sixth WrestleMania main event this Sunday

There is no denying who is the needle mover in WWE. Like him or hate him, Roman Reigns has been a constant in the company for the past several years and his WrestleMania main events speak for themselves.

With Sunday’s match against Brock Lesnar, this will be the sixth time that Reigns will headline a WrestleMania and is now placed third when it comes to an individual headlining the most WrestleManias.

Reigns’ first WrestleMania main event came in Santa Clara at WrestleMania 31. Back then, he took on champion Brock Lesnar for the WWE title in a match which Seth Rollins crashed when he cashed in his Money In The Bank briefcase. Roman took the pin that night and Rollins walked out with the title.

The next year at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Reigns took on Triple H for the WWE title as well. Triple H was the champion at the time but Reigns came out victorious and walked out of Texas with the gold around his waist.

His third main event was not for the title but at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando, Roman took on The Undertaker in a no holds barred match. Reigns inflicted The Undertaker’s second loss at a WrestleMania and everyone thought that was the last match of Taker.

Reigns met Brock Lesnar again for round two at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans at the Superdome and just like their first encounter, Reigns was on the losing side, a result which shocked fans as everyone was thinking that Reigns would regain the title.

He missed WrestleMania 36 due to his medical condition and the coronavirus but returned with a bang at WrestleMania 37. Reigns, as the champion, successfully defended the title against Edge and Daniel Bryan in a triple threat match. The ending for this match equally shocked fans as Reigns stacked both men on each other and pinned them both.

And that brings us to this weekend for WrestleMania 38 where Reigns and Lesnar go at it again for the third time with the stakes raised even higher. The winner of this match will walk out with both the WWE and Universal titles in a winner-take-all unification match. Oh, and Reigns has never beat Brock at a WrestleMania…yet!

With this event, Reigns moves to six WrestleMania main events, surpassing The Rock, Shawn Michaels, and John Cena who each have five. His next target is Triple H who has seven main events to his name and then Hulk Hogan, who is number one with eight total main events.

Early betting odds for NXT Stand & Deliver top matches

NXT returns for the first show outside the Orlando area since February 2020 tomorrow with (not Takeover) Stand & Deliver.

Six matches will be part of the card tomorrow but today we will take a look at the betting odds of the top three matches and tomorrow we’ll cover the full card.

In the NXT title match and main event, Dolph Ziggler’s chances of retaining the belt don’t look good with bookmakers as his odds are at 11/2 while Bron Breakker is at 1/14 to become a two-time NXT champion.

The NXT Women’s title will be defended in a fatal four-way match as Mandy Rose defends against Cora Jade, former champ Io Shirai, and Kay Lee Ray. Rose remains favorite for now with odds of 19/20 while the young Cora Jade is at 11/4, Shirai at 3/1, and Kay Lee Ray at 7/2.

A five-way ladder match will determine the NXT North American champion. Currently, reigning champion Carmelo Hayes looks in pole position to win this match with 1/1 odds while Cameron Grimes is 33/20. Grayson Waller is 4/1, Santos Escobar is at 6/1, and Solo Sikoa is a long shot at 15/2.

WWE welcomes the 2022 Hall of Fame class live on Peacock

The WWE will welcome its 2022 class of the Hall of Fame live tonight in a ceremony that will air on Peacock after the conclusion of Friday Night Smackdown on FOX.

This is the 23rd class of the WWE Hall of Fame and the first one to be held in front of an audience since the 2019 class, held on the weekend of WrestleMania 35.

WWE skipped the ceremony in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic and then inducted the 2020 and 2021 classes during the WrestleMania 37 weekend last year. Both ceremonies were held at the Thunder Dome in an empty arena.

Corey Graves and Kayla Braxton will be hosting the ceremony this year, a ceremony which will have less inductees than usual.

The inductees are:

THE UNDERTAKER

With a career spanning over three decades and a WrestleMania record that will likely never be matched, the 56-year-old Phenom has done it all in the wrestling business and an induction into the Hall of Fame is the final accolade for him in this industry.

The Undertaker had his last match at WrestleMania 36 in a Boneyard match against AJ Styles and then had a send off – in an empty arena – at the Survivor Series, exactly 30 years after his incredible WWE debut.

But while we have not seen him since then, the Dead Man will get his one final entrance in front of thousands of people at the AT&T Stadium at WrestleMania when WWE presents its Hall of Fame class.

The Undertaker will give his first comments on his Hall of Fame induction when he joins The TODAY Show tomorrow morning on NBC.

A near five-minute video celebrating The Undertaker’s legendary career with Metallica’s song Sad But True and Kid Rock’s American Bad Ass has just been published by WWE and you can see it below.

VADER

Vader, real name Leon White, started his pro wrestling career in 1985, first with the AWA, Catch Wrestling Association, and New Japan Pro Wrestling. It was in Japan where Vader made a name for himself, becoming the first non-Japanese wrestler to hold IWGP Heavyweight championship.

In 1990, Vader joined WCW whilst still working for New Japan and in 1991, began full time with the Atlanta-based promotion. Vader quickly became one of the monster heels in WCW and was paired with Harley Race, winning the WCW title three times and the United States title once.

He joined the then WWF in 1996, making his debut at the Royal Rumble. Vader was teamed up with Jim Cornette and worked for the company till 1998. He never won any titles in WWE but became pretty famous for attacking WWE President Gorilla Monsoon, hitting him with a Vader Bomb on an episode of Raw.

Vader departed WWE in 1998 and he moved to All Japan Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling NOAH, and even TNA, before making sporadic appearances for WWE over the following years.

Vader died on June 18, 2018 after he was hospitalized for a month with pneumonia. He was 63 years old.

SHARMELL

The 51-year-old started her professional wrestling career in 1999 as a Nitro Girl and then moved to WWE in 2001 where she became a backstage interviewer. Her first stint only lasted a year and left the business altogether, only to return in 2005 with her husband Booker T. After Booker T won the 2006 King of the Ring tournament, she switched to Queen Sharmell as part of her new gimmick and is mostly remembered for that role.

Sharmell, who won Miss Black America 1991 contest at the age of 20, also worked for TNA Wrestling between late 2007 and 2009.

“I was so happy,” Sharmell told Complex.com, who was given the exclusive news today. “I didn’t even know what to say. It was an unexpected, great surprise – a welcome surprise.”

Nowadays, Sharmell helps her husband run the Reality of Wrestling promotion in Houston, where she is in charge of the business-side of things. She also helps students with character work, promos, and life.

THE STEINER BROTHERS

Starting as a team in 1989 in World Championship Wrestling, the Steiners became one of the most dominating tag teams in the history of professional wrestling. After a successful three-year spell in WCW, the duo moved to the World Wrestling Federation and made their TV debut in December 1992. Their stint in WWE only lasted two years and then moved to ECW and back to WCW before they separated as a tag team in 1998.

The legendary duo had memorable feuds with the likes of The Fabulous Freebirds, The Midnight Express, Money Inc, the nWo, and many others. After splitting up, Scott Steiner went on to have a very successful solo career, winning the WCW title and the World Heavyweight title in WWE.

The two are former seven-time NWA/WCW Tag Team champions and two-time WWE Tag Team champions.

It’s a remarkable turnaround for Scott Steiner who just a few years ago was banned from WWE after threatening Hulk Hogan and his wife.

SHAD GASPARD (WARRIOR AWARD)

Named after WWE Hall of Famer The Ultimate Warrior, The Warrior Award is presented to an individual who has exhibited unwavering strength and perseverance and who lives life with the courage and compassion that embodies the indomitable spirit of The Ultimate Warrior.

Gaspard passed away on May 17, 2020 after he and his son were among a group of swimmers who got caught in a strong current at Marina Del Rey Beach in California. Lifeguards managed to save his 10-year-old son after Gaspard made the ultimate sacrifice, telling lifeguards to save his son instead. A wave later submerged him, preventing rescuers from locating him.

Helicopters, divers, and lifeguards from the U.S. Coast Guard and Los Angeles Lifeguards searched the shore for a couple of days until the search was called off. His lifeless body washed ashore in Venice Beach in the early hours of May 20.

New era of ROH under Tony Khan starts tonight with Supercard of Honor

A new era for Ring of Honor starts tonight with the first pay-per-view booked and produced by new owner and AEW President Tony Khan.

Ring of Honor takes over the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas, for Supercard of Honor, a show which was already announced before Khan took over the promotion in early March.

One person who Khan failed to get for this show is ROH Women’s champion Deonna Purrazzo. Purrazzo was already booked to appear on the Impact show on the same night but some sort of a compromise has been reached between Khan and Impact Wrestling which will see Purrazzo defending her title against the winner of the interim championship match at a later date.

The full card for ROH Supercard of Honor is as follows:

Jonathan Gresham vs Bandido in a winner-take-all match for the Undisputed ROH World title; The Briscoe Brothers vs FTR for the ROH World Tag Team titles; Josh Woods vs Wheeler Yuta for the ROH Pure title; Titus Rhett vs Minoru Suzuki for the ROH TV title; Mercedes Martinez vs Willow Nightingale for the interim ROH Women’s title; Swerve Strickland vs Alex Zayne; Ninja Mack vs Tully Blanchard’s new client; and Jay Lethal vs Lee Moriarty.

The show will be streaming live on FITE.TV.

Massive WrestleMania 38 stage unveiled by Dude Perfect

The popular group Dude Perfect unveiled the WrestleMania stage yesterday as only they can, helped by Michael Cole and Pat McAfee.

The unveil came when Tyler Toney threw a football from waaaaaay far away and hitting a corn hole-like box where upon landing, the fireworks lit up the whole AT&T Stadium.

A gigantic WrestleMania 38 logo sits at the top of the ramp at an angle and as always WWE did not disappoint when it comes to the stage.

Pat McAfee, who was an NFL kicker, said he was inspired by Dude Perfect, and kicked another ball from the cheap seats, landing it in the hole as well.

“Stuuuupendouuuuus,” screams McAfee, as the rest of Dude Perfect celebrate.

You can check out the cool reveal below.

Seth Rollins hilariously tweeting GIFs of potential WrestleMania opponents

Seth Rollins is having a ball on Twitter at the moment, tweeting GIFs of potential opponents for his WrestleMania match.

Rollins will be wrestling on WrestleMania Saturday but his opponent remains a mystery and will be chosen by Vince McMahon.

During the past 24 hours, Rollins has tweeted GIFs of Veer Mahaan, Shane McMahon, Mustafa Ali, John Cena, Rob Van Dam, Scott Steiner, Elias, Bayley, and even AEW’s Marko Stunt after news came out that his AEW contract will not be renewed due to budget cuts.

It’s highly likely that any GIF that Rollins will post will not be his opponent on Saturday.

Cody Rhodes remains the top rumor as his opponent for the show and everyone is expecting the former AEW EVP to walk down the aisle at AT&T Stadium.

NBCUniversal and WWE to produce new drama series titled Pinned

NBCUniversal today announced that it is developing a new scripted series titled Pinned in association with World Wrestling Entertainment.

The media company describes Pinned as “an adrenalized upstairs-downstairs soap that gives a behind-the-scenes look at a fictional wrestling promotion and the unforgettable characters that populate it.”

Craig O’Neill will serve as an executive producer on the series with Tom Rinaldi. Vince McMahon, Kevin Dunn, and Chris Kaiser will serve as executive producers for WWE.

NBCUniversal did not announce yet where the show will air, if it will be on regular television or produced exclusively for their streaming service Peacock.

The description of the show resembles the Stephen Amell series Heels which is currently in production for season two and airs on STARZ.

Sasha Banks featured on The Athletic

WWE Superstar Sasha Banks is currently featured in a long story on The Athletic, a sports-based portal which rarely covers professional wrestling.

In the story, The Athletic catches up with the former Raw, Smackdown and Tag Team champion on her road to WrestleMania and discusses several subjects, such as her early start, her ups and downs in WWE, walking away for four months after requesting her release, going Hollywood, her cousin Snoop Dogg, and wanting to be the female version of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
