To say that Pat McAfee enjoyed his WrestleMania experience is an understatement. It is the first time that the former NFL player has participated in the event as an in-ring performer and he shared the stage with Vince McMahon, Steve Austin, and Austin Theory.
McAfee left Dallas this morning to continue his other business – hosting his popular usual radio show titled The Pat McAfee Show. And McAfee didn’t waste time to talk about his WrestleMania debut, calling it a dream come true.
“I had the time of my life. Last night, I should have been undefeated at WrestleMania and then I got…you know, set up,” McAfee said, referring to having a second match against Vince McMahon.
“I got bamboozled. There’s no way that was a sanctioned match. So, I’m still undefeated at WrestleMania,” McAfee said.
McAfee put over Austin Theory and said he was very fortunate to be there with him, labeling him as a “good kid.” He thanked everyone for “everything,” especially the Internet wrestling community who showed him a lot of love yesterday. “Last night was a f*cking dream and you all are the best.”
McAfee also had a special thank you to WWE for getting the rights to the massively popular song Seven Nation Army, performed by The White Stripes. When the song hit the speakers, the AT&T Stadium came alive, especially when the chorus kicked in as fans sang it many times during the match. He said it was the perfect entrance and something that he thought about million times over.
After the match with McMahon, Stone Cold came down to give the Theory and the boss Stunners. McAfee was invited over by Austin for a beer and also ended up eating a Stunner, saying that he had no idea that was happening.
WWE announced that WrestleMania 38 became WWE’s highest-grossing and most-attended event in company history. WWE’s annual pop-culture extravaganza saw 156,352 fans from all 50 states and 53 countries converge on AT&T Stadium in Dallas over the course of two exciting nights, surpassing the previous gate and attendance records set by WrestleMania 32 in 2016.
“On behalf of our family and the entire Dallas Cowboys organization, we are ecstatic to have once again shattered records with WrestleMania at AT&T Stadium,” said Dallas Cowboys Chief Brand Officer Charlotte Jones. “I’ve experienced first-hand WWE’s commitment to both its fans and host cities alike. We are so grateful for their partnership and desire to always overdeliver.”
“The city of Dallas would like to thank WWE for presenting an incredible WrestleMania week of events at both the American Airlines Center and the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center,” said Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson. “The week provided an economic windfall for Dallas and proved once again that our city is a first-class host for major sporting events.”
“The city of Arlington is extremely grateful to WWE for bringing back its biggest annual celebration,” said Arlington Mayor Jim Ross. “We look forward to the opportunity to top this record with a future WrestleMania at AT&T Stadium.”
“We are thrilled that WrestleMania’s return to Dallas again generated record results, proving that everything is indeed bigger in Texas,” said WWE Executive Vice President of Special Events John Saboor. “We are grateful to the Jones Family and the entire Dallas Cowboys Organization, the Dallas Sports Commission, the city of Arlington, the city of Dallas and all the public and private sector partners who were instrumental in making WrestleMania 38 the most stupendous two-night WrestleMania in history. We now turn our attention to next year, where WrestleMania will take over Hollywood.”
WrestleMania 39 takes place in Los Angeles at Sofi Stadium and Hollywood Park on Saturday, April 1, 2023 and Sunday, April 2, 2023. Ticket information will be announced later this year.

At 76 years of age, Vince McMahon become one of the oldest people to wrestle at WrestleMania and while this was not his first match at the showcase of the immortals, it was his first win.
McMahon accompanied Austin Theory to his match against Pat McAfee and sat at ringside watching his protege lose to the former NFL player. McMahon was certainly not impressed at all by Theory’s lack of winning and decided to take matters in his own hands.
First teasing to removing the jacket, and then actually going ahead with removing it and his shirt revealing the jacked physique, McMahon challenged McAfee to a match right there. McAfee bumped like crazy for the boss and lost the match after McMahon softly punted a ball into him.
But that was not all. As Theory and McMahon celebrated, Stone Cold Steve Austin’s music hit to another thunderous pop from the crowd. Austin hit the Stunner on Theory, who sold it like The Rock, and then set his eyes on McMahon.
McMahon knew what was coming and tried to negotiate by drinking with the Rattlesnake. Austin handed over a beer and McMahon hilariously tasted it a few times before chugging it down.
And then, the worst Stunner in the history of Stunners came next. Austin kicked McMahon in the gut, apparently maybe a bit too hard and McMahon dropped. Austin tried to lift him up but Vince lost control and hit the ropes, saving him from falling down. Austin then did his best to hit the Stunner but Vince did a worse job than Linda McMahon did.
Stone Cold laughed uncontrollably at the situation and then invited McAfee for a drink. McAfee accepted and as you can guess, got hit with another Stunner and this time, sold it beautifully.
Speaking to the press last night after his match at WrestleMania, the returning Cody Rhodes said that he does not want another management job in wrestling, although he did say they in this business, “never say never.”
Rhodes, who was an EVP in AEW, admitted that he might not have been mature enough for the job but he tried. He said he loved his job regardless but no one dreams to be an executive.
“Everyone who wants to be a wrestler, the dream is putting the belt on,” Cody said. “That’s the dream. And I locked myself out of that because I didn’t want to upset fans and do that and they still got pissed. So I’m thinking, ‘Oh well, f*ck, sorry. I locked myself out of the main title picture.’”
Cody was referring to never wrestling for the AEW World title, a stipulation he lost when he didn’t beat Chris Jericho for the title in the early days of AEW.
The former TNT champion said he is a wrestler and will remain one throughout his large WWE deal which runs for several years.
Rhodes also said he would be happy if he never steps foot inside the WWE Performance Center, mainly because that is where his father’s old office and his wrestling boots remain there as a reminder to all those who pass through the PC.
In a different interview with Ariel Helwani, Cody also revealed how Triple H was the last one to come in his bus where he was hiding before they ushered him out for his match. Asked to say what Triple H told him, Rhodes took a second and then said he doesn’t know if he wants to reveal that, but it was a special moment for him and he offered to shake his hand and in return he got a hug.
Cody said he can crush thrones and talk shit about Triple H all day long and what he did needed to be done and he owns it, but at the end of the day, he can never repay the debt to Triple H for taking care of his father and the only way he can make something up for that is to be in WWE and perform at the top level for him.
Night two has a lot to live up to. In terms of surprises, the only way they can come close is an appearance by Mr. Maivia after the main event. Between the ropes, the men’s tag and singles’ matches could steal the show.
Of course, no sooner was the above written than HHH shows up to kick-off the show. Huge ovation, maybe the biggest so far, nice moment with his daughters too. Still a badass entrance. Guessing he must be in decent shape because God knows what all that does to your pulse.
‘Thank you Hunter…’
Beginning by flashing the Clique sign, Levesque thanked the fans before welcoming us all to WrestleMania. Queue pyro and ballyhoo. Before exiting he ceremonially left his boots in the ring.
Gable Steveson was hyped again.
RK-BRO VS STREET PROFITS VS ALPHA ACADEMY, RAW TAG TITLES
Story going in: Street Profits challenged the champs 3 weeks ago, both teams were attacked by Alpha Academy.
Crowd Response: Huge reaction for RK-Bro. Meh for the others. They were into all the big moves and very into the finish.
Match quality: Decent. Lots of cool moves but in-between was a bit strange as one team would just randomly stay out of the way while the others did battle, despite it being clear they could enter at will.
After Orton’s recent hammering of the NXT roster for ‘not knowing how to work’ (and he wasn’t talking the 2.0 crew), it’s fitting that all five of the other participants in this passed through the Black and Yellow brand. Would love to know who he meant.
Starting off with a ‘Shoooosh’ – which seems like a thing maybe 7 year old’s might find entertaining – Ford and Riddle teed-off on Gable, ending with a quick roll-up by Ford on Riddle, establishing early that there are no friends and you have to watch your back at all times.
Each then took turns chucking an opponent out of the ring, leading to Otis standing tall with the other five outside. Heavy boos.
Huge Private Party vibes from the Street Profits. Confirmed when Montez launched himself breathtakingly over the corner buckle onto the rest. Though with a great deal more control than the sloppy Marc Quen. Not to be outdone, Gable then flung himself onto the pack via moonsault.
Slowing down, Otis dominated Riddle with clubbing blows and a big splash as Orton got the crowd going. Tagging in, Gable went to work with leg-holds. Briefly interrupted by a flurry from Angelo Dawkins, Alpha Academy continued working over Riddle.
A bro-to-sleep later and the hot tag was made, Orton exploding with clotheslines and a snap-powerslam until he was dragged outside by Ford where Orton dumped both Ford and Gable onto the announce desk.
Dual draping DDTs by he and Riddle on the Street Profits brought the crowd to their feet. Preparing for the RKO, both were again dragged outside, this time by the Academy.
A leaping bulldog by Gable brought a two on Ford. Reciprocating, Montez drew a two himself via a Blockbuster with Chad on Dawkins’ shoulders. After laying out Orton with a sky-high, Dawkins then nearly Undertaker’d himself with a plancha to the outside as Ford perched on the top-rope in the corner above a prone Orton.
Saved by his partner, Riddle appeared out of nowhere (no pun intended) with a springboard RKO from the top. Crowd went NUTS. ‘Holy S***’ chants. Gable was then plucked out of the air and driven face-first by the Viper with another RKO for the win.
The crowd was rather pleased with the outcome. A bleeding Orton and Riddle then shared a cup with the Profits, but wouldn’t drink until calling Gable Steveson into the ring.
Spoiling the party, Gable slapped Gable’s cup (you read that right) out of his hand, before telling him to ‘Shoosh’ (might rather be separated from my fingernails than hear that again). Which earned him an overhead belly-to-belly from the rookie.
Vince will be devastated when he realizes there are two ‘Gables’. It was impossible to tell them apart.
WINNERS: RK-Bro
BOBBY LASHLEY VS OMOS
Story going in: Omos issued an open challenge on Monday’s Raw and was taken down with the Cena special
Crowd Response: Almost non-existent.
Match quality: Slow, plodding, boring. Would fit in well at WrestleMania 4.
2022 Great Khali ‘dominated’ early with that staple of the awful wrestler, the clubbing blow. The crowd here made the one during Charlotte/Ronda seem like when Austin won Mankind the title.
Attempting a Hurt Lock, Lashley couldn’t quite seal his fingers and Omos elbowed himself clear before clotheslining Bobby to the mat and flinging him to the outside. Caught while attempting a cross body from the top, Omos dropped Lashley, badly, right onto his side.
A bearhug brought the crowd to their seats.
Making a flurry, Lashley finally landed a low suplex, a spear to the kidneys and another to the chest before claiming victory. The crowd did react decently to the finish.
WINNER: Bobby Lashley
JOHNNY KNOXVILLE VS SAMMY ZAYN, ANYTHING GOES
Story going in: Zayn eliminated Knoxville from the Rumble, after which Knoxville doled out his contact info and cost him the IC title
Crowd Response: Mostly quiet, very into Wee Man, sections kinda popped for various hijinks.
Match quality: Vince must have loved this, testicles and ass all the way. If it had been funny, fine, but it wasn’t, meaning it was just rotten, one of the worst things ever put-on in a wrestling ring. Waaaay too long to boot.
Anything goes. Which means all the Jackasses will be getting involved. Hopefully not an excuse to beat Zayn.
Knoxville makes Marko Stunt look like Batista. He looks like a spoof, and not a good one. The sort of thing you desperately don’t want your non-wrestling-fan friends to see you watching.
Wiped out the second the bell rang with a Helluva Kick, Zayn immediately took the upper hand, taking the time to slap the Jackass guys in the first row. An array of weapon shots continued Zayn’s dominance.
‘Nobody’s from the 70’s watching this’ claimed McAfee on commentary. Erm…
Reaching under the ring, Sami was the victim of a mousetrapped table. Allowing Knoxville to hit some weapon shots of his own as the wrestler re-entered. This didn’t last long as Johnny was flung through a propped-up table with an exploder suplex.
Preparing another Helluva kick, Zayn was ‘stopped’ by an airhorn blast from Knoxville. The crowd were pretty flat at this point. Which is when ‘Party Boy’ appeared in the ring, dancing and then stripping to his undies (more like a thong), confirming he doesn’t get much sun.
Taking advantage, Knoxville got a close two with a roll-up. Irritated, Zayn went outside to beat on Party Boy, eventually kicking him under the ring, while McAfee complained that ‘his cheeks were just starting to get over’, even popping Cole. That was a pretty good line.
As Sami reached under the apron, Wee Man popped out, attacking Zayn for a pop that honestly rivalled HHH’s, forcing Zayn back into the ring where he was bodyslammed by the little fella. Staggering to the corner, Knoxville hit Sami with a tornado DDT for a near-three that the crowd bought as a finish.
The Jackass pair then retrieved, for lack of a better description, a mechanical leg set in a tripod. Sami responded with a Helluva kick to Wee Man for heavy boos and knocked Johnny to the floor with elbows. After which he headed topside, ready to leap.
But Knoxville had a plan, setting off pyro which caused Zayn to crotch himself and land in the corner, legs spread. A bowling ball to the testicles followed, then the mechanical leg connected with the same area. The Jackass then stalked Sami with a taser, backing him up right into a giant hand that slapped him down.
Again caught on the top, Zayn was tasered in his baby-makers before being flung from the top through the mousetrap-table at ringside. A giant mousetrap was then brought into the ring which Knoxville used to pin the former NXT champion.
WINNER: Johnny Knoxville
QUEEN ZELINA & CARMELLA VS SASHA BANKS & NAOMI VS RHEA RIPLEY & LIV MORGAN VS NATALYA & SHAYNA BASZLER, WOMEN’S TAG TITLES
Crowd Response: Big response for Naomi’s entrance. Big reaction for the victory, quiet otherwise.
Match quality: Too many participants to really settle into anything, this was constant motion with quick in-and-out-tags and close pinfalls
Luckily, Naomi’s entrance kicked this off, bringing much needed energy, glowsticks and all that. Sasha came out in a high-end sports car.
Nothing yet to contest Bianca’s entrance theme but Carmella’s pseudo-Boyz-n-tha-Hood beat was pretty good.
Sasha Banks is as good an all-rounder as exists in the business: male, female or other. She’s never won at WrestleMania. This could’ve easily been a big singles match with Rhea instead. Which is how the match began after a bunch of false starts.
With all the others fighting on the outside, Banks went at it with a tagged-in Morgan in the ring. Liv hit an ObLivion but Natalya had tagged-in when Sasha hit the ropes. Baszler then went to work on Morgan’s legs as Liv screamed above a quiet crowd.
Quickfire tags followed as all the girls came in and hit moves, ending with Naomi and Sasha in control of Morgan in the ring. Triple superplexes in opposite corners left all eight writhing on the mat.
More quickfire tags led to every team briefly taking control and gaining two-counts. A Carmella superkick led to two close-counts before Naomi and Sasha nearly got the win after a combo kick/top-rope splash. Not long afterward, they did clinch victory with a double-team finish on Carmella as the crowd cheered.
WINNERS: Sasha Banks and Naomi
EDGE VS AJ STYLES
Story going in: Edge open-challenge for Mania, Styles answered, Edge then snapped and unleashed a double con-chair-to
Crowd Response: Very quiet.
Match quality: Started very slowly and never sped up. Never got going.
Not much of a build-up but on paper this promised to be the match of the weekend. It began with AJ bleeding from the face as a result of his entrance. While Edge merged the old and the new between his entrance music and the cool Brood-style entrance up through the ramp and a mass of flames.
Beginning aggressively, AJ backed Edge into the corner before firing kicks at his thighs. Early Styles Clash/Spear attempts were avoided as they eyed each other warily.
Outside, Styles rammed Rated R’s head into the ringsteps before being knee’d in the ribs as he attempted a springboard 450 back in the ring. Continuing the attack on the ribs, Edge rammed knees and aimed kicks, pausing briefly to fairly loud boos.
Fighting back, AJ was abdominally stretched after attempting a hiptoss and dropped with a shoulder-breaker. After which the announcers reminded us AJ had recently separated his shoulder. The pace remained slow as a prone Styles was victimized further.
Desperate, Styles reversed a suplex, sending Edge into the buckle before firing punches from the mount. ‘AJ Styles’ chants were interrupted as he was dropped by the veteran, before Edge targeted the shoulders further. A failed Pele Kick led to an Edge STF but Styles managed to get to the ropes.
Finally picking up a bit, AJ leaped from out to in, spiking Edge with a DDT before taking to the top after struggling to climb because of his shoulder. Edge tried to cut him off but AJ fought free into a torture-rack-bomb, gaining him a two before he was again cut-off, Rated R planting him with an impaler DDT for a two of his own.
Edge now had a nasty gash below the shoulder blade.
Sizing each other up, they exchanged punches from their knees, making their way to their feet as STYLES unloaded with rapid-fire strikes, kicks and a Pele Kick before exchanging submissions. AJ barely kicked out of a slingshot powerbomb.
A painful-looking Styles suplex from the top-buckle to the ring apron resulted in both scrambling to make it back in at nine, where AJ landed a springboard 450 to the back of his prone opponent for 2 and three-quarters.
Calling for the Phenomenal Forearm, Edge ducked out the way, Styles then leapfrogged a Spear before drilling Edge with the Styles Clash, Edge barely kicking out. With the match in-hand, AJ was set for the Phenomenal Forearm when Damian Priest distracted him, the hesitation resulting in Edge nailing Styles with a Spear mid-flight for the win. The crowd gasped at the finish.
Afterward, Priest and Edge smiled and celebrated.
WINNER: Edge
THE NEW DAY VS SHEAMUS & RIDGE HOLLAND
Crowd Response: Big response for the New Day, who were wearing Big E inspired gear.
Match quality: Too short.
First-off, get well soon Big E. Originally a six-man, this was whittled down to a tag after the big fella’s injury. Then it was booted off Night One.
Despite jumping the New Day immediately, Sheamus barely saved his partner from losing after a Trouble in Paradise.
Xavier paid tribute to Big E by removing his straps but Kofi was walloped with a Brogue Kick on the outside. With the ref distracted by Butch, another Brogue Kick and Northern Grit led to the very quick victory as Butch had to be dragged away from continuing the assault.
The booing from the crowd appeared to be legitimate.
WINNER: Sheamus and Ridge Holland
Before the next match, the Undertaker came out again to hear it from the crowd.
PAT MCAFEE VS AUSTIN THEORY
Story going in: On his podcast, Vince offered McAfee a match at Mania, which turned out to be against his protégé.
Crowd Response: They were incredibly into this from start to finish.
Match quality: Very entertaining. Athletically, McAfee was very impressive.
To the strains of ‘No Chance’, Vince came out to a nice reaction to personally introduce Austin Theory as a ‘future Universal Champion.’. Byron joined Cole for commentary as Cole acknowledged he would be ‘biased’ for this one.
Flip Gordon, sorry, Austin Theory (it’s uncanny) then emerged as Cole ran him down. ‘You suck’ chants filled the air as he and Vince waited for McAfee, who came out to Seven Nation Army alongside the Cowboys’ cheerleaders.
The crowd were very into this.
McAfee’s last match was surprisingly good. Then again, it was with Adam Cole. He started hot here, laying into his opponent with punches until Theory turned the tables. Launching a hurracanrana, McAfee nearly grabbed an early victory as the crowd chanted his name.
Before continuing to sing Seven Nation Army. This was easily the most alive the crowd had been since Wee Man. ‘You suck’ chants greeted Theory as he preened over a downed McAfee.
McAfee then pulled a ‘Rock’, throwing on a headset as he beat Austin on the outside. Taking in the crowd with Theory down on the mat, McAfee took too long and missed on a Swanton. Making the same mistake, Theory got caught up top and tried to shove Pat off. Aweing the crowd, McAfee flipped backwards, landing on his feet before immediately leaping back up to the top to superplex the youngster.
Theory just kicked out in time, much to the crowd’s disappointment. After missing a punt, Theory scooped him up for the A-Town Down, only for McAfee to counter into a roll-up for the very popular victory.
WINNER: Pat McAfee
This was pretty short but entertaining. It definitely helped that the crowd was wildly into it. Only the opening tag enjoyed anything close to this much crowd support.
PAT MCAFEE VS VINCE MCMAHON
After the match, the former NFL player beckoned Vince into the ring. Responding by tearing off his shirt – again to a huge roar from the fans – McMahon entered the ring, along with a referee. Attacking from behind, Theory laid out McAfee as the bell rang. Cole fawned over his boss’ physique.
Just as McAfee was preparing to attack, Theory tripped him from outside. With Pat prone, McMahon prodded him with his feet as if checking he was still conscious. A football was then handed to Vince, who kicked it into McAfee as he lay on the mat, leading to the pinfall.
WINNER: Vince McMahon
Not nearly enough damage was done for McAfee to appear this beaten up. Instructed by his boss, Theory then celebrated from each corner as if he’d won.
Then the glass broke.
A Stone Cold Stunner quickly eliminated Theory, who flopped around like a fish, the second homage to the Rock in this segment. Eyeing his old foe, Austin called for double beers, Vince emitting a big smile after taking a swig. McMahon nearly fell after the inevitable kick to the gut, using the ropes to recover into the Stunner. But the crowd cheered anyway.
Lastly, Austin called-in McAfee for a beer bash. You know what came next. Ordering more beers, a laughing Stone Cold celebrated as McAfee lay on the mat.
ROMAN REIGNS VS BROCK LESNAR, TITLE UNIFICATION MATCH
Story going in: Heyman made his choice, turning on longtime ally Lesnar to cost him the title, before Brock won the Rumble and made a choice of his own.
Crowd Response: Big reaction for Roman as he came out. Same for Lesnar. And the crowd remained extremely into this until the end.
Match quality: Excellent. Full of near-finishes and fast-paced, this was great. Every single second felt important, as though either man could claim victory with just the right move.
Roman was accompanied by the Usos, whose One and Done motto unfortunately doesn’t apply to alcohol, and Paul Heyman. Cole, joined on commentary by Graves, noted that Roman is the longest-reigning champ this side of Hulk Hogan.
This entrance felt big-time. As with Charlotte last night, WWE showed their favor by setting-off fireworks outside the stadium.
‘WrestleMania, acknowledge meee,’ led to chants of ‘Roman’ before the guitars wailed and Lesnar emerged to another big ovation from the crowd.
Snatching the mic away from the ring announcer to loud boos, Heyman introduced Reigns, who also received mostly boos. Following suit, a smiling Lesnar performed his own introduction, helped by the crowd.
After a long staredown, Lesnar asserted his dominance, driving Reigns into the buckles before launching him around with overhead belly-to-bellys as the crowd joined in the count.
A panicking Heyman distracted Lesnar: ‘I love you! Please take me back,’ allowing Reigns to launch a spear through the barricade. From which a wobbly Lesnar barely made it back inside to be drilled with another Spear as Reigns claimed a count of two.
Signalling the Superman Punch, Roman connected as Brock struggled to his feet for a second dose. A laughing Lesnar caught the Tribal Chief coming in for a third, racking up five overhead’s and going for the F-5. Slipping out, Reigns landed another Superman and set-up for the Spear. But Lesnar was ready, hoisting him up and nearly claiming the win after an F-5.
After wiping out the ref, Roman drilled Brock in the groin with his fist and in the head with his belt. But still couldn’t claim a three-count. Seemingly unsure how to put Lesnar away, Reigns launched into a Spear but was gripped in the Kimura Lock as the crowd anticipated the tap.
After struggling to the ropes, we overheard Reigns telling Heyman ‘my shoulder’s out’ as Heyman begged him to keep going. Hoisted up for the F-5 once more, Reigns slipped out and nailed Brock with a Spear for the 1,2,3.
We were then shown Heyman helping Reigns get the ropes when he was right on the brink of tapping to the Kimura.
WINNER: Roman Reigns, new Unified Champion (’til another new belt’s introduced in a few weeks)
We saw both sides of WWE over this weekend. Night One saw the wrestling side: the company has some exceptional wrestlers who put on incredible performances, along with one well-timed legend appearance, flawlessly planned and executed.
Tonight, by contrast, saw the ‘entertainment’ side: celebrities and ‘attractions’ like Omos who weren’t punctuated with enough quality action to balance out the show. Not coincidentally, the crowd were dead from the opening tag until the last two matches, which were the only things of real merit on the show.
That said, it did finish hot with an excellent match between the two biggest current stars for the biggest belt.
GO OUT OF YOUR WAY TO WATCH..
Brock vs Roman
Highlights from the McAfee/Theory/Vince/Austin segment
Roman Reigns became the new undisputed WWE champion at WrestleMania after he beat Brock Lesnar in a winner-take-all unification match.
This was Reigns’ first win against Lesnar in three attempts at a WrestleMania and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
WWE is now referring to the title as the Undisputed WWE Universal championship and it remains to be seen if there will be a new title rather than Reigns having to carry two separate belts.
It will also be interesting to see how the lineage of the title will look and if it will be merged with the main WWE championship which has a history dating back to several decades.
This is the first time that WWE will have a single champion since the brand split was restarted in 2016.
UPDATE: The full in-depth report for night two is available here.
Here are the quick results from WrestleMania 38 night two which took place from the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. A full report will be available in a few hours.
RK-Bro defeated Alpha Academy and The Street Profits in a triple threat tag team match to retain the Raw Tag Team titles; Bobby Lashley defeated Omos; Johnny Knoxville defeated Sami Zayn in an anything goes match; Sasha Banks and Naomi defeated Carmella and Queen Zelina, Natalya and Shayna Baszler, and Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan in a fatal four-way tag team match to become the new WWE Women’s Tag Team champions; Edge defeated AJ Styles; Sheamus and Ridge Holland defeated Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods; Pat McAfee defeated Austin Theory; Vince McMahon defeated Pat McAfee; Roman Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar to become the new undisputed WWE champion.
WrestleMania Sunday started with a surprise appearance from Triple H, who received a thunderous ovation from the crowd inside the AT&T Stadium.
Triple H took his time soaking in the moment and did his usual entrance, complete with spitting the water and posing on the turnbuckles.
Appearing just days after officially retiring from in-ring competition due to heart-related issues, Triple H said he came out to simply say thank you and to welcome everyone to WrestleMania.
After fireworks went off to start the show, the cameras switched to the middle of the ring where Triple H placed his wrestling boots, a symbolic gesture of retiring.
Triple H also made a cameo appearance at NXT Stand & Deliver yesterday, hugging Tommaso Ciampa after losing his last match in NXT
Rick Boogs will be undergoing surgery next week for a torn quadriceps to the patella tendon, an injury he suffered last night in the opening match of WrestleMania 38.
Boogs went to hoist both members of The Usos on his back in a fireman’s carry and his knee buckled under the weight. The match finish, which originally had Boogs and Nakamura win the titles, was switched on the fly and instead The Usos retained.
“From the highest of highs to lowest of lows. Having my beautiful wife with me to experience my first Wrestlemania. Getting the incredible opportunity to open the show! Being able to demonstrate brute strength in front of millions of viewers,” Boogs wrote in a post on social media.
“Unfortunately, the doctor told me my quad was too strong for the tendon and it was flexing so hard, it ripped the tendon totally off the bone. I’m still incredibly grateful for the experience and for all the love and support. History proves I will come back bigger, better, and stronger. IT’S A MINDSET.”
Hello everybody! It’s @TheMagnumDA here with the WrestleMania 38 PPV Pick’em report for Night Two of this great event. What else can be said about Night One? How can you even TOP Night One?! That was one of the wildest nights in professional wrestling, and regardless of what you thought you knew going into the show, there were still plenty of surprises. Cody killed it, Austin killed it, Becky and Bianca killed it, and hell…even Charlotte and Ronda produced a better match than I could have predicted! Having said that, let’s keep Boogs in our thoughts too – that knee injury did not look pretty.
One thing we’ll want to keep in mind…the New Day vs. Sheamus/Ridge tag team match did not take place last night, as planned…it’s likely that they will have the chance to wrestle tonight. If they do, everyone picked Sheamus and Ridge Holland except for yours truly (I had the New Day). Those picks WILL count towards the overall score, as long as the match takes place sometime this evening.
After Night One, here’s the current Pick’em Crew Standings: Magnum and Tom: 6 Points
Brother Bull: 5 Points
Colin and Renegade: 4 Points
It’s time to find out who’s walking away from WrestleMania 38 with the WOPC Championship – ON WITH THE PICKS for Night Two!!
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship – Fatal 4 Way
Queen Zelina and Carmella (c) vs. Sasha Banks and Naomi vs. Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan vs. Natalya and Shayna Baszler Bonus Question #1: Who scores the winning pinfall?
Heel Turn Tom: I feel like this title has been forgotten and not a priority. This match will probably not get much time for all the competitors in the match so it will feel rushed so people can get their stuff in. Sasha Banks will hit the Banks Statement on Liv for the tap-out win – Sasha and Naomi are the New Women’s Tag Team Champions.
Brother Bull: I’ll take Rhea and Liv to win the titles…for the bonus, I’ll say Rhea with a sexually compromising pin (Editor’s Note: That seems to be a thing, doesn’t it?)
Colin: Sasha Banks is still waiting for her first win at a WrestleMania believe it or not. Six losses. SIX! This is the perfect match to break that losing streak. I’m quite enjoying Sasha and Naomi together and it’s time for Zelina and Carmella to lose. So gimme the Legit Boss and the Glow Queen to win this one. Sasha gets the pinfall.
Renegade: I’m going to take the last-minute team of Natalya and Shayna to win the titles, with Natalya getting the deciding fall.
Magnum: Sasha Banks has burned my ass SO MANY TIMES at Mania. I’m pretty sure I’ve picked her on multiple occasions, and yet here we are…she is 0-6 at this event. This is the perfect opportunity for that streak to end, but mark my words…if she loses here, I’m never picking her again! Sasha and Naomi win the tag titles, with Sasha getting the deciding fall or submission.
Bobby Lashley vs. Omos
Heel Turn Tom: They didn’t do Bobby any favors with a decent title run or feud with Brock, so why should I see WWE doing anything different here? WWE will keep pushing Omos and he will get a win here too.
Brother Bull: Lashley beats the big man, and hopefully quickly.
Colin: Why? This match does nothing good for either of the two. Lashley has been booked strong, and so is Omos. Doing this match after just one show is absolute madness. I understand they want to put both on the show, but there were other ways. In any case, I think Lashley will give Omos his first loss and then goes again for the main title.
Renegade: I’m going to take Bobby Lashley here to win and get back into the title picture.
Magnum: At one point, the Vegas odds were firmly in Omos’ favor. As of this afternoon, however, some money has come in Bobby’s way. If this was the match where they wrote Bobby off because of injury, then I would pick Omos. However, as crazy as it sounds…I think Lashley is back and healthy, and I also think he enters the title picture after a huge victory this evening.
No Holds Barred – Anything Goes
Johnny Knoxville vs. Sami Zayn
Heel Turn Tom: Hi, my name is Johnny Knoxville and welcome to a WrestleMania victory!
Brother Bull: I believe Johnny Knoxville sneaks one out at WrestleMania.
Colin: I think we are going to see some wicked shit in this match. Knoxville will probably be on the receiving end of some crazy stunts so he can add them to his resume. What a nut job. Sami can’t lose this one. They will both get some holy shit moments, but it has to end with Sami winning.
Renegade: Yeah, once this became ‘Anything Goes’, that is going to favor Knoxville.
Magnum: I’m sure the entire Jackass Crew is going to get involved, and this is probably going to turn into a stuntfest to see how many bowling balls can Sami take to the groin (spoiler alert: not more than one). Knoxville gets the victory and the crowd pops for the Jackass theme music – bank on it!
Pat McAfee vs. Austin Theory
Heel Turn Tom: This is another one where I wonder why you bring in McAfee to have him lose. I have been impressed with his first two matches in NXT, so I hope McAfee and Theory over deliver here too. I see Pat McAfee getting the win at the end of the match.
Brother Bull: Pat McAfee finds a Way 😎, to beat Theory.
Colin: Believe it or not, I am really looking forward to this one. Pat is a tremendous athlete and he showed that to us when he worked NXT against Adam Cole and the WarGames match. And Austin Theory is a great wrestler too so they should click. They love McAfee, and he’s awesome, so I’m picking him for the victory. LET’S GO PAT! (clap clap clap)
Renegade: I’m also going to take Pat McAfee here for the win.
Magnum: You know what? Similar to the New Day match, I’m going against the grain here. I’m going to take Austin Theory, and here’s why: I can’t see Austin Theory’s name value growing for future Mania’s if he loses this one, and I think he will be in many more Mania’s in the future. This isn’t HHH losing to the Ultimate Warrior…this would be Theory losing to a former NFL player and current color commentator. The more likely scenario is that Pat would be willing to make a star out of this kid, so keeping that in mind…I see a fun, possibly wild match where Theory gets the victory.
WWE Raw Tag Team Championship – Triple Threat
RK-Bro (Randy Orton and Riddle) (c) vs. The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) vs. Alpha Academy (Chad Gable and Otis) Bonus Question #2: Who scores the winning pinfall?
Heel Turn Tom: I keep changing my mind on this one because of the other titles changes I have and originally, I had Riddle getting the pin. But I am going with some fantasy booking for my pick. There will be something that starts the crack and future split of RK-Bro and Ford will swoop in with a Frog Splash on one of the Alpha Academy for the three-count and Street Profits win.
Brother Bull: Alpha Academy win the belts…and Otis gets the pin. SHOOOOSH!
Colin: This should be another good match if everyone is on the same page. RK-Bro will eventually implode but maybe not tonight. I’m picking them to retain the titles with Randy Orton delivering a gigantic RKO to someone. Out of nowhere, of course.
Renegade: Give me RK-Bro to retain the titles, with Riddle getting the deciding fall.
Magnum: This is another tough decision – a part of me wants the Street Profits to win the titles and turn heel, but I think that is coming down the road. For tonight, I’ll take Rannnnnndy and Riddle, Team RK-Bro, to hold on to the championships, with Randy getting the winning fall.
Edge vs. AJ Styles
Heel Turn Tom: I like where this new heel Edge is going and I want to see this going further. After a great match, I see a Spear and a three-count for an Edge win.
Brother Bull: Edge wins in a possible ‘Match of the Night’ candidate.
Colin: Match of the night? Probably. Match of the two-night show? Possibly. These two can raise the roof and Edge will be out there to prove that he can still hang in with the boys. You can’t get a bad match against AJ Styles. You simply can’t. It’s AJ’s time though and I’m picking him for a phenomenal win.
Renegade: I’m also going to roll with AJ – this could be his biggest WrestleMania win, to date.
Magnum: You know, this entire story has been about Edge. Edge fired the first salvo with the Con-Chair-To, and since that time he’s evolved into this crazy narcissist with a new entrance, a new promo style, and a wicked new theme. This is all new to us, so for him to lose…that’d be a step backwards. Look for Edge to win this match, possibly with some help from the guys who could be part of Edge’s “House of Black” type stable, as rumored.
Winner Takes All – Title Unification Match
Brock Lesnar (WWE Champion) vs. Roman Reigns (WWE Universal Champion) (with Paul Heyman)
Heel Turn Tom: The Bloodline is the best storyline going on right now and I hope we do get a payoff with The Rock involved somehow and maybe even an appearance tonight. I see (with a little help from his family) Roman getting the win and unifying the titles.
Brother Bull: Roman Reigns…ACKNOWLEDGE him!!! He becomes the Unified Champ in the greatest main event ever.
Colin: Oh boy. I’m so undecided on this one. Face Brock has been AMAZING. Why did it take so many years to get this out of him? It is like watching a completely different person. Love it. Reigns is at the top of his game. Nobody better. Nobody. He hasn’t beaten Lesnar at a WrestleMania. Ever. Who walks out with the title? Who needs it more? Very, very, very hard to predict. 50/50 for me, but since you’re holding me at gun point and need to pick a winner, then F it, I’m picking the REIGNING, DEFENDING, UNDISPUTED HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION…ah shit…well, okay, Roman Reigns wins. Acknowledge him.
Renegade: I can’t go against The Tribal Chief – Roman Reigns walks out of WrestleMania with both championships.
Magnum: This actually seems like the easiest pick of the night. I know a lot of folks are waffling about it, but for me…it’s pretty cut and dry. They want Roman to have this title reign that lasts for years…so to do that, he’s going to have to get through Brock. He’s tried twice before to defeat Brock at WrestleMania, and he has failed at Mania 31 and 34. Similar to Rock with Austin, Roman’s finally going to get Brock on the third try. Wouldn’t it be interesting if Brock and Paul were working together this whole time, and a double-turn happens in the middle of the match? Hey, anything could happen! Either way, Roman wins and becomes WWE Undisputed World and Universal Champion.
That’s going to do it for us – from everyone here at the Wrestling-Online Pick’em Crew, THANK YOU for checking us out. We hope you enjoy Night Two of WrestleMania 38, and we’ll see you next time for the PPV Pick’em report. @TheMagnumDA signing off.
In what will surely be an interesting conversation, WWE’s newest arrival Cody Rhodes will be heading the WrestleMania Superstore Axxess panel tonight starting at 11:30PM after the conclusion of WrestleMania.
Tickets for the panel were labeled as “surprise guest” but WWE this morning revealed that it will be indeed the former AEW Executive Vice President who will be the subject of the panel.
Tickets are available for $100 each and are sold on SeatGeek.com. A $10 entrance ticket is also required but if you already bought that, it’s good for all days.
Night one of WrestleMania had some surprise results and some must have made good money if they bet against Ronda Rousey but what will night two bring to the table? We will take a look at the full betting odds for tonight’s card.
Please remember, these odds might change so be careful when using real money. Also, you can check out best payout online casino australia while waiting for the show!
Someone is walking out of the AT&T Stadium with the two main titles and it will either be Brock Lesnar or Roman Reigns. The titles will be unified in a winner-take-all match and as things stand, Reigns is the clear favorite with his odds of 1/5 while Brock is 3/1 as the rare underdog.
Edge and AJ Styles are set for probably the match of the night in this first-ever encounter between the two. The Rated-R Superstar has the upper hand in the odds with 11/20 while Styles is 5/4.
You can’t think of the word stupendous without picturing Pat McAfee saying it. Hopefully, his match against Austin Theory will be just as much. But Theory is currently the favorite, slightly ahead of McAfee with odds of 22/25 against those of 4/5 of the former NFL player.
Bobby Lashley came back surprisingly quick and will now face Omos in a match of two giants. This one is still undecided and bookmakers have put the odds for both men at 17/20 with no clear predicted winner.
For the first time, WrestleMania will feature a jackass in the form of Johnny Knoxville. In the anything goes match, Knoxville is favorite at 1/5 odds while Zayn is 3/1 to end this feud once and for all.
Bro! We have a triple threat match for the Raw Tag Team titles and RK-Bro remain favorites to hold on to the straps with their odds at 3/5 while those of the Street Profits are at 8/5 and Alpha Academy a long shot at 5/1.
A fatal four-way match will determine who will walk out with the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles. Champs Carmella and Zelina Vega look in trouble with their 9/4 odds as Sasha Banks and Naomi are favorites with 3/4. Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan are 13/5 while Natalya and Shayna Baszler are pretty much written out with 9/1 odds.
They got cut from WrestleMania Saturday due to time constraints but hopefully, The New Day, Sheamus, and Ridge Holland will find their way on tonight’s card. The New Day are favorites at 11/20 while Sheamus and Holland are set at 5/4.
Ronda Rousey addressed the rumors that surfaced yesterday about her being unhappy and that she “left” the arena at WrestleMania, rumors that even trended on Twitter during the day.
Rousey vs Flair was the original main event but that was replaced when Steve Austin eventually agreed to do a match. Combined with the fact that her match ended the way it did, sending the crowd home after that would have been a big no no.
“I don’t know where these ‘reports’ come from but it was an absolute honor to perform under Steve Austin at WrestleMania in Texas,” Rousey said in a tweet.
She also addressed her absence from the WWE Hall of Fame on Friday night which was taped after Smackdown.
“I wasn’t at Hall of Fame because I have a six month old baby I had to put to sleep early. People are literally creating drama out of thin air,” she concluded.
During an interview with David Shoemaker after his match against Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes explained how Vince McMahon and Bruce Pritchard flew down to his place to meet him and discuss a potential return to the company.
Usually things go the other way round, as it’s the talent who fly to Connecticut to meet the boss but in quite an incredible turn of events, it was the boss and one of his most trusted lieutenants who flew down to meet Rhodes.
Saying that now he feels “vindicated,” Cody said that he drove the point hard that if he were to come back, he needed to be the AEW version of Cody Rhodes, the American Nightmare persona he developed outside the restricted walls of WWE.
“To hear Vince say ‘well, it’s not broke,’ it’s a vindication to prove people wrong who doubted you and prove people right who were on board with you,” Cody said.
Rhodes said that he will be discussing further his return tomorrow night on Monday Night Raw and he is here to settle unfinished business, hinting that he will be going after the WWE title.
“There’s unfinished business for my family that we never got, and I am going to be the one to get it,” Rhodes said.
Meanwhile, his return video on YouTube is outdrawing every single other video from night one of WrestleMania, including those of Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Cody’s surprise return has over 1.2 million views already in a few hours, almost double of what Stone Cold’s match highlights against Kevin Owens has. The overall highlight reel from night one is still under a million views as well and nothing else comes even close to the number.
Live from the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, WWE presents the first night of WrestleMania 38.

Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns in a winner-take-all match for both the WWE and Universal titles; RK-Bro vs The Street Profits vs Alpha Academy in a triple threat match for the Raw Tag Team titles; Queen Zelina and Carmella vs Sasha Banks and Naomi vs Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan vs Natalya and Shayna Baszler in a fatal four-way tag team match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles; Edge vs AJ Styles; Johnny Knoxville vs Sami Zayn in an anything goes match; The New Day vs Sheamus and Ridge Holland; Pat McAfee vs Austin Theory; and Bobby Lashley vs Omos.
The two-hour Kickoff show will start at 6PM ET on Peacock and WWE Network as well as all social media properties. WrestleMania will start at 8PM ET.
WWE announced last night that WrestleMania 39 will also be a two-night affair with the show taking place on April 1 and April 2, 2023.
The incredible SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California will be hosting the two-night WrestleMania Hollywood and WWE is already collecting information from those who wish to register for a pre-sale.
If you’re interested in getting tickets through the pre-sale when they are announced, you can register at http://link.wwe.com/join/5nl/wm39-presale.
The SoFi Stadium was originally set to host WrestleMania 37 but the pandemic changed everything, with 37 going to Tampa again, Texas getting 38, and then California getting 39.
It looks like moving forward, WWE will be retaining the two-day concept for WrestleMania.
Stone Cold Steve Austin rolled back the years last night at WrestleMania and wrestled his first match in 19 years, headlining night one of WrestleMania 38 with Kevin Owens.
Arguably the biggest pop of the night, over 70,000 fans welcomed back the Rattlesnake who came out in his trademark Austin 3:16 shirts, jeans shorts, taped wrists, and knee braces. That alone was supposed to be a giveaway of what was coming next.
Owens told Austin he tricked him into inviting him for the KO Show because in reality, he wanted to kick his ass in a no holds barred match. Austin asked the crowd to give him a “Hell Yeah!” if they wanted to see him in a match and the fans rattled the AT&T Stadium with two thunderous “Hell Yeah’s”
With the referee in place and the bell rang, KO and Stone Cold brawled all over the place including in the stands, where Austin took a suplex on the concrete floor. It wasn’t the old Stone Cold for obvious reasons but the man looked like he was enjoying the spotlight one more time.
Kicking out of his own Stunner after Owens hit him with one, Austin regained control, drank a lot of beer, and eventually finished the French Canadian with a Stunner of his own. Three seconds later and Austin was declared the winner of the WrestleMania Saturday main event.
After the match, Austin thanked the crowd, hit another Stunner on Owens who was then escorted out by police, celebrated with his brother in the ring, and then invited Byron Saxton in the ring for a beer…and a Stunner.
Speaking backstage following his match at WrestleMania, the returning Cody Rhodes was quite emotional recounting his journey back.
He said that he was at WrestleMania six years ago as Stardust and he knew he was out, he knew he was leaving and he tried to rattle the cage and tried to change every rule but he never thought he’d ever veer back to where he is now.
“When the time came to ‘Hey do you wanna do this,’ even though I never I thought it would happen, it’s the easiest decision I’ve ever made because I have strayed away from specter of Dusty Rhodes for 16 years in the business and the whole reason I got in it is because I wanted to win the big one,” Cody said.
“I wanted to win it and handed it to him, that was my first dream but now I don’t get the chance to do that,” Cody continued. “But sometimes it’s not so much about him, but what about me? What about my daughter? What about my wife?”
Cody put over Seth Rollins, saying that he had Rollins’ first dark match in WWE and now look at him.
He said he didn’t want to speculate how he’d feel coming out but now that he’s done it, and the true Texas crowd welcomed him, it’s one of the best moments for him and one that he will cherish forever.
She is one of the most popular WWE Superstars of all time, but Sasha Banks still has one thing missing from her CV – a win at a WrestleMania.
You read correct. In six attempts, The Legit Boss has been, at WrestleMania at least, a legit loser and her record is currently at 0-6.
Banks will be hoping to get a “1” in the “W” column tonight as she teams up with Naomi to go for the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles in a fatal-four way match.
Banks made her WrestleMania in-ring debut six years ago – in the same stadium that she’ll be wrestling tonight – at WrestleMania 32. On that day, Banks wrestled Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair in a triple threat match to crown the new WWE Women’s champion, a match which Charlotte Flair won.
The next year in Orlando, Banks was part of the Raw Women’s title match with three other women in a fatal four-way along with Bayley, Charlotte, and Nia Jax. Bayley retained the title that night.
WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans saw Sasha being part of the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal. She made it far enough, but failed to win and was eliminated by her frenemy Bayley.
As the WWE Women’s Tag Team champions, Banks and Bayley defended their titles against The IIconics, Beth Phoenix and Natalya, and Nia Jax and Tamina at WrestleMania 35. Banks and Bayley lost their titles that night and Banks bolted for four months after that.
At WrestleMania 36 at the Performance Center, Banks was in a fatal five-way match against Lacey Evans, Naomi, Tamina, and Smackdown Women’s champion Bayley. 2020 was the year of Bayley and Banks but on this day, Bayley reigned supreme.
A year later at WrestleMania 37, Sasha Banks made history with Bianca Belair by becoming the first black females to headline a WrestleMania. It was a history-making night and Sasha entered as the Smackdown Women’s champion…but walked out without the gold as Belair got all the glory by the time the show was over.
