Kenny Omega on All Out backstage brawl: “I’d encourage people to let it go”

Speaking to Sports Illustrated, former AEW World and Trios champion Kenny Omega said that it’s time for people to “let go” what happened after All Out.

“There are things no one can talk about, so I’d encourage people to let it go,” Omega said. “It doesn’t change that we want a team effort in AEW.”

The wrestling press has tried to get more details of what happened on that night in Chicago but everyone involved remained tight-lipped about the situation due to potential legal issues they might have.

“I encourage people to move away from it because there is no information to be released. Though I cannot talk about it, I do want the fans to know I still want the best for pro wrestling,” Omega continued.

The former champ said that he hopes that people don’t forget that at the end of the day, they’re just human beings struggling to show their art and it’s not a case of The Elite against CM Punk.

Karl Anderson to defend NEVER Openweight title on December 14 in Japan

Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows will be returning to New Japan Pro-Wrestling in December where Anderson will finally get to defend his NEVER Openweight title.

The two will be part of the World Tag League event which will take place on December 14 at the Sendai Sunplaza Hall in Sendai, Japan. December 14 is a Wednesday so it should not conflict with any WWE dates, plus WWE has no main roster premium live events scheduled for the final month of the year.

Anderson was originally scheduled to defend the title against Hikuleo on November 5 at Battle Autumn but Anderson opted instead to travel to Saudi Arabia for WWE’s Crown Jewel. NJPW threatened to strip Anderson off his title but eventually they let him retain it.

Former Reggie debuts on NXT as mystery character Scrypts

The Scrypts mystery character whose vignettes have been airing on NXT television ended up being the man formerly known as Reggie.

The 29-year-old was introduced to the NXT audience last night under his new name and picked up a victory against Guru Raaj in his first match.

The Memphis native has been signed to a WWE deal since January 2020, although he made his debut a month earlier as the French sommelier of Carmella. He is best known for having multiple runs as 24/7 champion and his angle with Dana Brooke where the two got married.

Reggie has barely featured on WWE television since the regime change in July.

The 3 best betting strategies for wrestling

Combat sports make up a significant portion of every bookmaker’s selection. While watching the gala, betting on bouts at a sports book adds excitement and lets you put your sports betting knowledge to play. But it’s worth understanding some useful advice if you want to fully profit from betting on fights at the bookmaker.

Kinds of Bets

When betting on wrestling, it is also worth familiarizing yourself with the individual types of bets. Here are the most common types of bets available:

  • Match Winner
  • The way of ending the combat
  • Battle end time
  • Special bets.

Strategies

Betting methods are becoming more and more popular in betting. They allow you to make a successful bet on WWE and earn money even for those players who are poorly versed in the discipline. About 10 new fighters join WWE every year from NXT. The task of the promotion is to add media and a fan base to the characters. This is facilitated by the victory over the titled star, this is a great scenario for a wrestler’s fairy tale. Bettors also take advantage of this development of events: bookmakers often underestimate newcomers and the fantasy of promotion management, placing high odds on the underdog.

What Else to Look for when Making a Bet?

When selecting the results of fights, it is worth conducting an analysis in advance and checking the key factors that may affect its result. Betting fights is a real fun for all fans of combat sports. How to do a good analysis that brings you closer to betting on the winning coupon? Here are the criteria that are worth considering:

  • Record and balance of recent fights. The player’s record is given as follows: wins, losses, possible draws, duels completed prematurely (knockouts and submissions). The record itself tells us a lot about the player himself, especially the number of knockouts. Especially among older players, it is very important to analyze the last fights.
  • Characteristics and physical condition of players. The characteristics of the players are also very important, especially in those sports where fights can be played in various ways. When it comes to physical conditions, there are three key factors: height, weight, and shoulder range. Height is especially important in punch fights. The big advantage of height allows you to control the course of the fight and keep the opponent at a distance. Here, however, the actual reach of the arms also comes in. It is not uncommon for us to compare players, one of which is taller and the other has a greater reach of arms. Weight, in turn, affects the strength of the blows, but also the control of the ground fight in the down position. On the one hand, a perfect sculpture proves very hard training, but on the other hand, it can herald problems with the condition: every developed muscle requires oxygen, which is often lacking in combat. Age can also be included in the category of physical conditions: youth mean speed and energy, while maturity means more experience and resistance to difficult situations.
  • Media reports. In the last days before the fight, media reports should also be followed. At the weigh-in ceremony, we can often see the attitude of both players and, above all, we get to know the exact weight. Betting fights usually take place on the same day, a few hours before the gala. Then we have the largest pool of information.

Dijak returns on NXT, takes out Wes Lee

The former Dominik Dijakovic and T-Bar returned to NXT last night under the name of Dijak, attacking Wes Lee after the main event of the show.

Lee had just successfully retained the NXT North American title against Carmelo Hayes when all of a sudden, the video screen part of the entrance showed cage bars closing. Lee then turned and Dijak, who was standing behind him, laid him out.

“That’s Dijak,” screamed Vic Joseph on commentary before Booker T hilariously replied with, “Who!?”

Vignettes hyping his arrival have been airing on NXT for weeks with the Retribution mask being thrown in the fire. He wrestled for NXT for three years until 2020 when he was eventually added to the Retribution faction, a faction which bombed big time.

He kept the T-Bar name until his move back to NXT.

Cain Velasquez allowed to wrestle at AAA event in December

Cain Velasquez, who was just recently released on a $1 million bail on attempted murder charges, successfully petitioned a judge to allow him to travel to participate in an upcoming AAA wrestling event in Tempe, Arizona.

The judge has approved Velasquez’s travel and out of his house confinement temporarily from December 1 to December 4. The event is set for December 3.

As part of the condition to wrestle on the show, the former UFC and WWE star will have to pay for and travel with a law enforcement officer who will be shadowing him. His GPS monitor will also be temporarily removed for the match only.

Velasquez last wrestled for AAA in December 2021 and just two months later was arrested after he chased down and shot at a truck which included a man who allegedly sexually assaulted his son. He spent nine months in prison waiting for bail.

Cheerleader and Netflix star Gabi Butler signs WWE deal

People.com is reporting that cheerleader and Netflix star Gabi Butler has signed a deal with WWE.

The 24-year-old, who was featured in the Netflix series Cheer, said she fell in love with wrestling after she attended SummerSlam in person this past July and admitted she’s quite new to it as she was always concentrated on cheerleading…until now.

“I was blown away by what they put on. When I went to SummerSlam, it really just opened my eyes to the athleticism and the dedication the athletes bring into the ring,” she told PEOPLE.

Butler said that at SummerSlam, she spent time with WWE Chairwoman and co-CEO Stephanie McMahon and it was Stephanie who convinced her to give it a try.

“It’s very related to cheerleading because we’re performers, we’re entertainers, we like to put on a show and we also have to be athletic,” Butler said.

Now she is heading to Orlando to join the next class of the WWE Performance Center where she will get a taste of what it’s like to be a professional wrestler.

Fifth person of Belair’s WarGames team to be revealed on Smackdown

The fifth member of Bianca Belair’s Survivor Series WarGames team will be revealed this coming Friday live on Smackdown.

Many fans had hoped that Sasha Banks would be the mystery partner, especially since the show will be held in Boston. But WWE announcing the mystery partner on Friday will prevent fans from booing anyone who is not Sasha Banks on the day of the show, something that has happened in the past when surprises don’t meet fans expectations.

Meanwhile, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Wrestling is reporting through his Select service that Becky Lynch is the planned Superstar to join Bianca Belair’s team on Friday.

Lynch has been out since the day after SummerSlam after she separated her shoulder during her match against Belair. She was attacked by Damage CTRL the next day on Raw to write her off television.

Mia Yim gets “crazy” name change

Mia Yim is the latest WWE Superstar to receive a name change, and this one is rather crazy…literally!

Yim’s new name is now Michin, which in Korean means crazy. She was referred to with her old and new name last night on Raw but now even the WWE.COM roster page officially switched to Michin.

Yim tweeted, “미친 . Michin (Mee-chin). Crazy” after Raw ended.

The 33-year-old, who returned to WWE a few weeks ago, was born in Los Angeles but her mother is Korean, hence the chosen name.

WWE promises WrestleMania 43 to Nashville if new stadium is built

WWE will be bringing WrestleMania to Nashville, Tennessee, if the city keeps its word and builds the new stadium for use by 2027.

In an article posted by the Nashville Tennessean newspaper, it was reported that WWE has promised Butch Spyridon, the CEO of Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp, that if the $2.1 billion stadium is built in time, they will award them WrestleMania 43.

“The minute the Mayor’s office and the Titans released the stadium term sheet, we started looking for opportunities,” Spyridon told the newspaper. “WWE had an incredible experience at Nissan Stadium this past summer, and we started talking. WrestleMania is considered the No. 6 top sports event brand in the world, and we are grateful for their confidence and belief in Nashville.”

The Metro Council will be voting on the project and Spyridon pushed hard the WrestleMania promise in hopes of a positive vote.

“WrestleMania is a weeklong event potentially worth upwards of $200 million and is broadcast in 57 countries,” Spyridon told the Council. “This is just the beginning of what our city can do if the stadium deal is approved. Deep appreciation to WWE, the Titans and the state for getting this done.”

WWE said that the company looks forward to hosting many events in partnership with the great city of Nashville at the proposed enclosed stadium.

WWE hosted SummerSlam at the Nissan Stadium this past July and the show was a major success for both the company and the city.

Who will fill Team Belair’s final spot at WarGames?

19 of the 20 Superstars who will be participating in the two WarGames matches this Saturday have already been revealed, leaving one particular mystery female still to be decided.

The team of Bianca Belair, Asuka, Alexa Bliss, and Mia Yim still have to fill the final spot on their team and last week Belair said she knows who it is, but will not be revealing it just yet.

Speculation have been running rampant on who the fifth and final member of the team will be. Names floated included the likes of Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Tegan Nox, Beth Phoenix, and the ever-present Sasha Banks.

Lynch, who is due to return soon, seems a likely candidate as The Man was taken out in a backstage segment by Damage CTRL the night after SummerSlam. Phoenix was taken out by Rhea Ripley, but Ripley is currently busy with Mia Yim. Nox is not under contract but had a history with Dakota Kai being taken out during the NXT WarGames. Flair has been out for months and not really tied to the storyline while Sasha Banks has also been out for six months and has nothing to do with the storyline either except her long history with Bayley and her feud with Belair.

But the Survivor Series is taking place from Boston, Sasha’s hometown and if it is indeed Sasha who returns, she will surely get that proverbial “Road Warrior pop.” Banks hinted at doing something crazy this month, something which she has been waiting to do for the past six months. She also trademarked four names last week suggesting life after WWE so this is really up in the air.

If the fifth member of Bianca’s team is revealed tonight on Raw, then the chances are that it’s not going to be Banks. Leaving a mystery fifth and final participant to be unveiled in Boston will surely up the rumors that it will be Banks and if it’s not Banks, WWE risks fans turning on whoever that might be.

Post-show Survivor Series 2022 press conference to stream live on social media

Taking a page out of All Elite Wrestling, WWE will host a Survivor Series: WarGames press conference following the conclusion of the premium live event and it will stream live on YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok.

WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque will be hosting the press conference similar to what Tony Khan does for his post-show press conferences and several WWE Superstars will drop by to discuss the events that happened earlier in the night.

The company did a similar press conference at the Clash at the Castle show in Cardiff this past September but it looks like this will be part of the big events moving forward.

The Survivor Series airs this coming Saturday live on Peacock and WWE Network.

Brandi Rhodes says returning to the ring is not in her immediate plans

Appearing on the latest Ten Count podcast with Steve Fall, former AEW Chief Brand Officer Brandi Rhodes said that returning to the ring is not in her immediate plans although she cannot say she won’t be back eventually.

“It’s not in my plan. I kind of did myself a good service I think in taking a beat,” Rhodes said.

She noted how her number one priority when she and her husband Cody departed AEW in February of this year was to make sure Cody’s dream was realized.

“It’s been a dream that’s been in the making for him since he was four years old…so I think it’s a good thing that you press forward and we’ve got to see this through,” Brandi said regarding Cody winning the WWE title.

She said that she has other things she’s working on, including the YouTube series Shot of Brandi, a new podcast coming, plus other non-wrestling related stuff are in the pipeline as well.

But Brandi did not completely shut down the idea of stepping back in the ring in front of an audience again.

“I won’t say, ‘no it’s not going to happen.’ But I will say that right now, it’s not front of mind for me,” she said.

Rhodes participated in a match a few months ago behind closed door at the WWE Performance Center.

Royal Rumble 2023 crosses $5 million revenue in gate money

WWE announced today that the 2023 Royal Rumble has broken the company’s record for largest gate in the event’s 36-year history.

The January premium live event surpassed the $5 million mark over the weekend, taking over the record from the 2017 edition, coincidentally enough held at the Alamodome in San Antonio as well.

Tickets for the Royal Rumble are still available through Ticketmaster.com starting from $65 each plus taxes and fees. WWE already moved over 30,000 tickets for the Rumble and the event is still two months away.

Not the whole Alamodome is being used for the Rumble although WWE opened more sections recently. The event will have a similar feel to what this year’s Rumble had in St. Louis as well as SummerSlam in Nashville.
