WWE promises WrestleMania 43 to Nashville if new stadium is built

WWE will be bringing WrestleMania to Nashville, Tennessee, if the city keeps its word and builds the new stadium for use by 2027.

In an article posted by the Nashville Tennessean newspaper, it was reported that WWE has promised Butch Spyridon, the CEO of Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp, that if the $2.1 billion stadium is built in time, they will award them WrestleMania 43.

“The minute the Mayor’s office and the Titans released the stadium term sheet, we started looking for opportunities,” Spyridon told the newspaper. “WWE had an incredible experience at Nissan Stadium this past summer, and we started talking. WrestleMania is considered the No. 6 top sports event brand in the world, and we are grateful for their confidence and belief in Nashville.”

The Metro Council will be voting on the project and Spyridon pushed hard the WrestleMania promise in hopes of a positive vote.

“WrestleMania is a weeklong event potentially worth upwards of $200 million and is broadcast in 57 countries,” Spyridon told the Council. “This is just the beginning of what our city can do if the stadium deal is approved. Deep appreciation to WWE, the Titans and the state for getting this done.”

WWE said that the company looks forward to hosting many events in partnership with the great city of Nashville at the proposed enclosed stadium.

WWE hosted SummerSlam at the Nissan Stadium this past July and the show was a major success for both the company and the city.
