He said Bray suffered no consequences for his action but if he were not injured, he would show Bray what those consequences are.

FTR vs Top Flight, ROH Tag Titles

Backstory: Amid mutual respect, the youngsters made the challenge Wednesday

JR welcomed us, Excalibur, Schiavone & Riccaboni with him, the guys already in the ring.

A cagey start as Dax and Darius circled one-another: lockup, armdrag, Dax to the mat looking none too pleased.  Which is why he next ran through the youngster with a shoulder block.

A bodyslam followed, Darius kicked him away, hit another armdrag, Dax tried a headscissors, Darius kipped up out of it, the youngster too fast for the vet so far.

Irish whip – Darius returned the favor with a shoulder block of his own, Dax quickly shoved him off as he went for a cover only for Martin to hit another.  Harwood quickly got up and blasted him with an elbow strike.

Cash in, chops and uppercuts, Darius elevated via back body drop but landed on his feet to tag his brother.

Greeted by more chops and strikes, Dante too was dropped via shoulder block, whipped into the ropes where his brother bagged a blind tag, hit a gamengiri from the apron, double leapfrog inside culminating in double-team kicks to the legs and a Darius ddt.

Count of one.

Backed into the vets’ corner, Darius ate a stiff chop from Dax, tried to fight back but was dropped by a hard right.  Tag to Cash, Darius attempted a sunset flip, Dax held his partner up until Dante came in via springboard to blast him in the face with his knees.

All four in, double hurracanrana with the legs hooked, two counts of two.

A boot to the face despatched Dax, leaving Cash to be doubled.  Darius grabbed a tag mid-way through a tornado ddt, Wheeler headed outside for a breather as the ads arrived.

Back from the break and right into a springboard Dante dropkick to both Dax & Cash, the youngsters then hit another dropkick each, sent FTR outside as both took to the air, then brought Dax back in for Dante to strike off the top via cross body for two.

Dax fought back, stiff strikes to both; a Dante enziguri left all four down.  Tag to Cash: slingshot powerbomb/big splash off the top combo for two.  Stiff kick by Darius, short arm clothesline in response by Dax, Big Rig set up but interrupted.

Dax alone again vs both: Darius ddt, Dante splash off the top, another two.

After a big uppercut by Cash, Darius hit a Spanish Fly in reply, taken out via brainbuster by Dax, who looked for the same on Dante but the youngster slipped out into a victory roll for yet another two.  Then another.  And another.

Tag to Cash, Dante missed with a Nose Dive – which he seems to do a lot, not a fan of that move – right into the Big Rig.  1, 2, 3.

Gunns came out with popcorn.  Y nada mas.

Good opener – FTR gave the youngsters a bit more structure than their match last week.  Making this a series would greatly benefit the Martin bro’s.

WINNER: FTR

Will Hobbs video showing where he grew up.  Just like everything was taken from him, ‘I’m taking everything that means something to you.’  Don’t really get that closing line, it was addressed universally.

…..

Ad for the Fight Forever game – which still doesn’t even appear on the PS Store.

…..

JAS came out so that Jericho could talk about how great he is and bait Claudio.  Who came out to challenge for the ROH title at the ROH ppv, being What’d at every turn.  Jericho told him to forget it until Matt Menard came up with a stip. – if Claudio loses, he has to join the JAS.

The fumes of this feud have fumes.

…..

Toni Storm sat down with Renee.  They ‘tore the house down’ at Full Gear but Jamie didn’t beat her one on one, she needed help.  (Might be true but Hayter was destroying Toni even before Britt & Rebel interfered.  Also, who cares if they ‘tore the house down’, this is supposed to be a contest, you lost).

‘I broke my face losing that title and I’ll break it again getting it back’ (she had two black eyes).  Good closing line at least.

Anthony Henry vs Darby Allin

Backstory: None

Excalibur noted that the tag vs Jarrett & Lethal at the ppv was ‘incredible’.  Yes it was, just not in the way he meant.

A couple stiff kicks to the spine from Henry early.  The crowd were amusing themselves with ‘Wooooo!’ chants at this point.  Darby blasted JD Drake with his killer tope, allowing Henry to drop him across the apron.  Ads.

Somehow and for some reason, Henry was till on top when we returned with kicks and a neckbreaker out of the corner.  After Henry missed a knee drop, a Code Red bought Darby two as the woos continued.  JD Drake attacked from the outside, Henry got two, Sting took out Drake: first thing the crowd had enjoyed in a while.

To the top, Anthony hit a superplex, holding on and transitioning into a plain ol’ suplex; Darby slipped behind, Scorpion Deathdrop, Coffin Drop, victory.

Henry dominated this.  If Darby decided to give him that much, it needs to be explained to him why he can’t do that.  If an agent was aware of it, then they need to be talked to.

WINNER: Darby Allin

Hikaru Shida vs Queen Aminata

Backstory: None

Penelope Ford & the Bunny came out before the match began, enabling Aminata to strike from behind – nasty boot to the head.

Setting up an air raid crash, Shida turned it into a jackknife pin for two.  Stiff elbow strike, Falcon Arrow, Katana for the quick W.

WINNER: Hikaru Shida

Athena backstage with Lexi, the real-life unprofessional continued to play the role onscreen, shoving Lexi aside and saying she was ready for Mercedes.

…..

FTR backstage after their victory.  Dax challenged Bryan Danielson for Wed.

Butcher, Blade & Rush vs Dark Order (10, Silver & Reynolds)

Backstory: Rush has been trying to recruit 10 & implied Silver cost the latter a title shot

Ten was nowhere to be seen during the pre-match promo and didn’t show for the match, which immediately spilled to ringside, Reynolds getting the better of Blade in the ring as Silver was doubled at ringside and left laying.

A triple team ensued until Reynolds bagged a tag, Silver in to buckle Blade then drop him with an Olympic Slam but was caught mid-dive by Butcher.  Break time.

Still in trouble as we came back, Silver blasted Butcher with a superkick, took out Blade but Rush knocked Reynolds off the apron before stomping away at Silver.  Uno & Negative 1 then beckoned Ten to the ramp.  The latter charged to the ring, went face to face with Rush then blasted Silver with a clothesline.  Setting up the Bull’s Horns for the victory.

Ten then hit a discus lariat to Reynolds as Negative 1 was shown looking upset.  Discus Lariat to Uno.  Reynolds was then chokeslammed off the apron through a table.

Ten then threw his mask at Negative 1.

Who could possibly care?

WINNER: Rush, Butcher & Blade

AEW President Tony Khan profiled on the The Athletic

AEW President Tony Khan is featured in a pretty in-depth interview from The Athletic, a sports-based website now owned by The New York Times.

In the interview, Khan explains how he incredibly juggles his four jobs: Chief Football Strategy Officer for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Vice Chairman and Director of Football Operators for Fulham FC, Chairman of TruMedia Networks, and President of All Elite Wrestling.

Asked who is in charge of keeping his schedule in order, Khan replied with a straight forward answer.

“Me,” he said. “Different people send me stuff and contribute, but at the end of the day, I have to keep track of everything.”

As you can imagine, juggling four different high-profile jobs is not an easy task but Khan finds himself time for everything, including spending a lot of time on his new(er) venture: AEW.

“I think we are well ahead of my expectations at the launch of the promotion. We’re in our third year, and as we’re getting to Year 4, it’s amazing,” Khan said of AEW. He noted that the company had growth year after year and now even quarter over quarter.

Khan credited the PPV business and the expansion with New Japan Pro-Wrestling and is looking forward to expand into international events.

Khan also said that he finds time to watch some of the other promotions, although most of the time he can’t watch live. “But I do go back and try to watch as much as I can from those companies and others,” he said.

You can read the full interview at TheAthletic.com.

Dominik Mysterio and Rhea Ripley beat up Rey at family Thanksgiving dinner

WWE shot an angle at Rey Mysterio’s house where Dominik and Rhea Ripley showed up for Thanksgiving dinner and instead the Judgment Day members beat the hell out of the former World champion.

The video shows Dominik and his mami arriving, with Dominik telling Rhea that he’s almost positive they’re gonna like her. Dominik knocks repeatedly on the door and his mom opens.

“Why are you filming, Dominik?” his mom questioned. She then shuts the door on him before Rey comes and opens the door.

“Now it’s not the time, please. Don’t play stupid with me,” Rey tells his son and Rhea. As soon as he tries to shut the door, Rhea pushes it back, dropping Rey on his ass. The two assault Rey and Dominik takes down the frames on the table.

He then smashed one frame on Rey’s injured leg and then breaks a broomstick over it as Rhea held Mysterio down by pushing her leg on his neck.

“Happy Thanksgiving Rey,” Rhea says, as Dominik adds, “I think the family likes you!”

The two then head out as Rey’s wife attends to her injured husband.

In addition, Flair also said that he has been invited to the 30th anniversary episode of Monday Night Raw which will take place a week before the Royal Rumble in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

“I’ve been invited and it’s a f*cking big deal,” Flair said. “I’m on it, hell yea are you kidding me? 30 years!”

Flair and WWE are working on a two-hour documentary where Flair got to defend himself and tell the real story, at least according to him, on what happened on the infamous Plane Ride from Hell.

Ricky Starks gets AEW World title shot after tournament win

Ricky Starks earned an AEW World title shot after yesterday he defeated Ethan Page in the final of the AEW World Title Eliminator tournament.

Starks went through Lance Archer in the first round and Brian Cage in the semi final before meeting Page. A legit injury delayed his participation in the tournament with the final moved to yesterday’s Dynamite instead of Full Gear.

Now, the 32-year-old will be getting his first crack at the AEW World title at the upcoming Dynamite: Winter Is Coming episode on December 14 against new champion MJF.

First aid for acute injuries in wrestling

Accidents are common in most sports, but some are mitigated adequately through accident prevention and management strategies. Proper and swift care for acute wrestling injuries facilitates a quick recovery for affected individuals. Below is a list of acute wrestling injuries and their first aid.

Dislocation

Dislocations are commonplace in wrestling and occur mainly within the shoulders and hips. The injury causes the joint to relocate out of the socket, and patients can see the dislocation when it happens. Symptoms associated with dislocation include the inability to move the joint, pain, bruising, and swelling. A severe hip dislocation from a car accident and related injuries forces the femur out of the pelvis.

First-aid caregivers should keep the victim’s organ immobile by minimizing unnecessary movement. You should also avoid replacing the joint as it may lead to further injuries. You should instead position the ice on the injured area and provide the victim with painkillers such as ibuprofen and acetaminophen.

Neck Injury

An athlete who sustains a neck injury should contact an emergency number promptly. When a person sustains neck injuries, assessing whether they’re breathing and conscious is crucial. You should consider stabilizing the neck and the head of a person who sustains neck injuries if you think the injuries are severe. Remember to contact an emergency number, avoid correcting the head position of an unconscious victim, and minimize patient movements until a healthcare professional arrives at the scene.

Caregivers should ensure the patient’s head gets the necessary support while limiting neck movement. You can free the airways of a patient who finds breathing hard through cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). You can also wrap the patient with warm blankets and clothes to limit the temperature drop. Stiffness and pain around the neck may occur after a concussion, leading to dizziness, headaches, pressure in the head, and nausea. The symptoms may fail to improve, necessitating medical care from a sports physician.

Head Injury

Head injuries must be taken seriously by prioritizing first aid for victims who sustain such injuries. A caregiver’s first step is assessing whether the athlete is breathing, conscious, and has a pulse. Ensure you support the neck to minimize movements that can result in paralysis, especially if there is a fractured neck.

Relocate the patient from the injury scene and transport the victim using neck support if there are displacement signs or neurological symptoms. You should always assume the patient has sustained neck injuries if the person is unconscious but breathing. Ensure you prioritize ventilation and airways over potential neck and back injuries and seek emergency medical care if the victim sustains severe neck or head injuries.

Knee Injury

Athletes who suspect knee injuries should stop whatever they’re doing and focus solely on knee joint compression. You may consider elevating the injured leg of the victim to a higher position than the rest of the body. Take the patient straight to an emergency room if there are injuries to the meniscus or ligament. It’s possible to examine the patient’s knee through proper early treatment or a knee MRI as the diagnosis becomes complex if the swelling is significant.

Prepatellar Bursitis

Gradual wear, trauma, and overuse cause swelling of the bursa sac in the patella, which results in the propagation of this condition. The stress of traumatic impacts and weight bearing on the knees subject wrestlers to this type of bursitis, leading to symptoms such as swelling and sharp pain. Wrestlers should consider using knee pads to minimize impacts in front of their patella. If the inflammation or swelling affects the patella, icing, rest, elevation, anti-inflammatory, and compression medications are recommended.

Wrestling requires proper technique, strength, and flexibility to minimize injuries. Athletes should have appropriate coaching and instruction and follow safety precautions to reduce the severity of injuries.

NXT rating for 11/22/2022

NXT this week drew its lowest viewership in a month, with the show pulling just 624,000 viewers, down 39,000 viewers from the prior week. Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam movie now available in digital format

Dwayne Johnson’s movie Black Adam is now available to purchase in digital format from Apple, Google Play, Movies Anywhere, and other outlets.

The price is $24.99, on the higher-end for digital movies, but Black Adam is still showing in theaters across the United States and is now in its fifth week of release. The movie is available in HD and 4K with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

The DC franchise movie currently has $158,377,609 in box office revenue in the United States according to BoxOfficeMojo plus an additional $209,800,000 in receipts internationally for a total of $368,177,609 worldwide. The movie cost around $200 million to produce and millions more in marketing.

House of Black returns on Dynamite

All three members of House of Black returned on Dynamite last night, attacking Best Friends and The Factory.

This was Malakai Black’s first appearance on AEW television since All Out in September and the first for Brody King and Buddy Matthews since the Dynamite: Grand Slam episode later that same month.

There was a lot of conflicting information regarding Black’s departure at the time, with some insiders saying he got a “conditional release” from his deal. But Black later shot down the rumors and said that he just needed time for himself and AEW allowed him an extended time off. A few days later, Matthews said the same at an indie event.

There were rumors that Black wanted a release to go back to WWE after Triple H took charge and his wife Zelina Vega returned.

Famous Wrestlers who have had Plastic Surgery

When one becomes a wrestler it is more important to look good while in the ring than most people realize. There are plenty of individuals who think that it is all just a big show and that the performers don’t care about how they look to their fans. That simply isn’t true. There are plenty of wrestlers who have gone to marksolomonmd.com to get the information they require about plastic surgery, and plenty have booked appointments.

Cody Rhodes

No one would deny that Cody Rhodes is a good looking man. He is the kind of guy that fans tune in to see specifically. However, part of those good looks are maintained by the fact that Rhodes has received some plastic surgery over the course of his career. In fact, if it were not for the plastic surgery, he might not have been able to maintain the quality looks that have made him a wrestling superstar.

The Big Show

He had to have plastic surgery to remove a pituitary tumor. Believe it or not, this is something that shows up fairly often in men of his size. It is actually seen as something that contributes to the size of these men. However, it is important to note that if these tumors are not removed, they can potentially lead to risky health situations. No one wants to see this happening in their life, and that is why it is so important that The Big Show had this surgery done.

The Rock

He had plastic surgery to make himself look even more jacked than he already is. The Rock is one of those guys that you know you don’t want to mess with just by looking at him, and that all goes back to the fact that he has had surgery that helps him look as intimidating as that.

His Samoan genetic heritage is another thing that contributes to his giant and powerful look. He has leveraged all of this to have quite the career for himself. Not only is he a talented wrestler, but he has also appeared in a number of movies and has entertained and amused fans in that way as well.

Brie Bella

Many people looking at photos of Brie Bella say that it appears that she had a nose job done at some point. Indeed, the pictures of her when she was younger versus how she looks now do show a significant difference between what her nose looked like back then and what it looks like now.

There are a lot of people who would love to look just like Brie Bella, and a lot of it goes back to the plastic surgery that she has had done on herself over the years.

Nikki Bella

Yet another female wrestler who has had work done on herself. She had breast augmentation surgery and you can tell from the pictures of her from before versus how she looks now. There is a noticeable change in the way that she looks, and many of her fans are all about the look that she puts out there for them now.

There is something to be said for a performer who is not afraid to put herself out there and look her best just for the sake of the fans. They surely appreciate all of the effort that she has put into this for them.

These are all wrestlers who have benefited from plastic surgery. It is not as uncommon or unusual as you might think. If there is something about your body that you would like to change, you might consider this as an option for yourself.

The Elite mock CM Punk and backstage brawl on Dynamite in Chicago

While Kenny Omega told fans to “let go” the All Out backstage brawl because they won’t talk about it, it seems The Elite did not take their own advice after all.

On last night’s Dynamite, all three members of The Elite mocked CM Punk and the brawl during their match against Death Triangle in Chicago.

Omega taunted the GTS move and then actually hit it on PAC and even bit him on the arm, a clear mock at Ace Steel who bit Omega in the hand during the backstage brawl.

Then when The Young Bucks were in the ring, Matt Jackson tried to the a Buckshot Lariat and botched it up, similar to what Punk did in his match against Hangman Page at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view in May.

Punk still had fans in the Chicago crowd although not everyone was pro-Punk as evident by the dueling chants of “F*ck The Elite” and “F*ck CM Punk” during the match.

The Elite lost the match and now Death Triangle are 2-0 up in their best of seven series.

Dynamite TV report for 11/23/2022

Arena: Wintrust Arena

City: Chicago, IL

Last Week’s Rating: 818,000 overall; 0.28 in 18-49 demo

That’s the show’s lowest rating since March 2021.  Bad few days of viewership.

A few thoughts on Full Gear:

  • Very long show without enough quality matches to sustain it
  • The crowd was dead for most of it
  • Putting the trios match on early was a big mistake (though the 4-way was the best match on the show)
  • Toni Storm was made to look really bad – yes Jamie cheated but she’d spent the match kicking the crap out of Toni anyway
  • It’s important to clearly define babyfaces & heels – both the main event & Britt/Saraya suffered on this account
  • Probably should’ve put Saraya in there with someone like Serena for her first match back – while Britt runs scared as you build to the eventual face off
  • The sooner ROH gets a tv deal the better –wanting to win here so the champ can carry the title into Final Battle is like the Warriors wanting to beat the Celtics so they can compete in the G-League

It’s Wednesday night, it’s Dynamite.  Let’s go.

Excalibur showed us the ‘shocking’ conclusion to Saturday’s ppv, before we cut to Regal mid-ring – ‘Would you like to hear from your new champion?’  HUUUGE cheer (uh-oh).

‘Well you will, but it’ll be next week’.  Regal pretended not to know where they were and that MJF had better things to do – on the set of the Von Erich movie.

Next week, Max will explain ‘everything’.  (Wonder if he can explain not using the diamond ring and delaying his victory just to use the brass knucks?)

Cue ‘Wild Thing’ as the announcers emphasized Moxley had the match won on Saturday.  The ex-champ did not look pleased.  His eyes never left Regal as a ‘you f***** up’ chant started.  Before he could get to his mentor, Bryan Danielson slid in front.

‘We’ve all done bad things!’  He begged Moxley not to hurt the man from Blackpool.  After slapping Mox, Danielson profusely apologized but insisted that Regal was the only man who’d really been there for him when his dad had the same struggles Moxley did, helping him understand his father.

Then tried to use the same analogy with Mox’s daughter – what if someone helped her love you?  Because, ‘I love this man’.

Visibly shaking with rage as the crowd chanted his name, Moxley went face-to-face with Regal – ‘I only want one thing from you, I want you to run.  Run far away, as far away as you can and you never, ever come back.’  This is some medieval ish.

The Englishman slowly traipsed up the ramp as Moxley looked pained in the ring.

Mox was fantastic here, doing everything his character should in the situation.  The rest of the story… let’s just say it needs tying together.  And most importantly, it does not seem like Max is going to be booed.  And that’s a problem.

…..

Backstage with Keith Lee, Renee wanted to know where he and Swerve stood.  Funnily enough, Strickland was right there.  Squaring up, Strickland put his hand over the camera and said ‘Let’s talk.’

Orange Cassidy vs Jake Hager, All-Atlantic Title

Backstory: Hager wondered what was in Cassidy’s bag, Cassidy showed him the belt and made this challenge

Hager came out in his MMA gear… and that purple bucket hat.  He’s done a better job making that seem important than half the belts in the company.  Rocky and the Best Friends came out with Cassidy to balance out 2.0 and Daniel Garcia.

(There were some CM Punk chants when the show very first opened, absolutely nothing since.)

Cassidy handed his glasses to the ref, Hager put them on under his bucket, smiling and preening.  Orange kept trying to take the hat, Hager kept blocking him.  Don’t kill his vibe man.

The kicks were next, duck under, dropkick until Hager smashed right through him, hat intact.  But after pursuing him to the corner, Cassidy introduced him to the buckle and the hat went bye-bye, as did Hager’s smile.  And then Hager himself after being bridged outside.

Leaving Cassidy alone inside.  With the hat.  The JAS scrubs kept preventing him putting it on by interfering, culminating in a dive through the ropes which saw Orange caught and dropped across the apron, Jake kneeling like royalty as his crown was placed back where it belonged.

Probably shouldn’t be involved in a title match.  But this was a lot of fun.

Back in time to see Cassidy skin the cat, he was caught by his friends but Hager smashed through all of them.  Orange responded by taking all of Hager’s goons out via springboard flip.

Caught coming back in, a stundog millionaire and swinging ddt got two slaps.  Jake set up the Hager Bomb, Orange got his feet up but was snatched into the ankle lock.  Cassidy freed himself by stealing the hat and throwing it away, then bagged the win via roll-up.

Total comedy but fun.  Not much action.  If you’re not into the hat, you hated this.

About to hug it out, QT Marshall interrupted, along with the Factory.

Almost as if a higher power knew how bad this’d be, Marshall’s mic stopped working, just as the lights turned off.  Coming back to reveal Julia Hart, then the House of Black, already on the apron.  They beat the crap out of everyone to wild cheers and a ‘welcome back’ chant.  Then destroyed a bunch of security and enhancement talent, culminating in Dante’s Inferno on the ramp.

‘Members of the House of Black, please… rise’.

The company seems in such better shape with these guys back.  Though again, there is zero chance of their being booed.

WINNER: Orange Cassidy

Ethan Page vs Ricky Starks, Eliminator Tournament Final

Backstory: Winner faces MJF at Winter is Coming

It’s seemed all along that Page was penciled in to win.  But with them struggling to keep MJF booed, they surely can’t book him against another heel?

Bandaged from the shoulder across the torso, Starks’ injuries were immediately targeted.

The announcers continued the high prestige of this tournament by promo-ing, bickering and giggling over the first couple minutes, pausing just long enough to remind us this was for a shot at the world championship.

Crowd very quiet as this started slowly, Page hammering at the mid-section until Starks launched a Spear, buying time on the outside.  But pursued by Page, the attack continued around the ring.

Thinking tornado ddt, Starks was dropped waist-first across the top rope but an elbow strike sent Page outside.  Starks set-up a dive through the ropes, Hathaway hauled Page out of harm’s way, Ricky crashing to the mat as Stokely was sent to the back for his actions.

Heading to the top, Page was met there by Starks, the two exchanging shots until Starks landed a superplex, the embers of a ‘Ricky’ chant dying quickly.  Ducking and striking, Starks backed Page to the corner – irish whip, reversal – Starks landed a swinging neckbreaker, then hit a tornado ddt off the ropes, both down in the middle.

Crowd still very quiet as Ricky set up the Roshambeaux but was dropped via a big shot to the mush, then hauled up like a feather onto Page’s shoulders to be dropped via powerslam.  Count of two.

Signalling Ego’s Edge, Starks slipped out, ducked under, hit another Spear, then another for the victory.

A nothing contest which barely felt like a mid-level Dynamite match, let alone for a shot at MJF’s title.

WINNER: Ricky Starks

Wardlow promo – he complained about Joe using the perfectly legal rules of the match to hit him with a belt shot, then complained that Samoa Joe isn’t the TNT champion, he is.  And this is Wardlow’s World.  Again, who is the heel here?

…..

Footage aired of Jade Cargill confronting Bow Wow at the weekend.  Cut to her and the Baddies with Renee.  They’re going to have a Baddies Night next week.  Mark Sterling then said Jade had ‘No comment’ re: what occurred with Bow Wow before essentially firing Kiera Hogan.

Is Bow Wow even remotely noteworthy anymore?  Can’t remember a song of his since he removed the ‘Lil’, and that was twenty years ago.   My conspiracy brain made the Bow Wow to Snoop, Snoop to Sasha leap despite everything suggesting she’s headed back to WWE.

But can’t see a single other purpose to this.

Death Triangle vs the Elite, Match 2, Best of 7 for the Trios Titles

Backstory: DT lead 1-0 after Fenix reluctantly nailed Omega with the hammer while clutched in the One-Winged Angel: how reluctant he & his bro will remain is the story here

This series should be a blast.  You might’ve already heard or noticed – there’s a convenient gap in the schedule on the 4th Jan – just so happens to be the same night as Wrestle Kingdom where it’s now been announced Omega will face Ospreay.

Pretty loud boos and a decent number of ‘CM Punk’ chants at first as the Elite posed on the entrance.  Wayward Son sucks as entrance music.  Though it is superior to the BTE theme: a low bar.

Continuing a show-long theme, if the Elite are babyfaces, Cutler & particularly Callis have to go.  When the latter was railing against Fenix’ cheating Sunday, it just sounded like a bitter heel complaining.

Alex Abrahantes was back tonight as they showed footage of Penta meeting one of the 49ers and handing him a custom mask.  On the same lines, Pac was wearing one now, having broken his nose on Saturday.

Very logically, Kenny and Rey started things off, shouting and arguing as mixed pro-and-anti CM Punk chants could be heard.  After seeming to settle on a shake, Omega blasted Fenix with a pump kick as all six flew in to brawl, leaving Rey to be beaten in the ring by the Elite as the Bucks kept Pac and Penta outside.

An Omega sky-high brought an early two as the other four continued to fight around ringside.  Deciding to join them, Omega set-up a terminator dive, pausing to do the ‘Go to Sleep’ sign before he launched, allowing Fenix to hit his rolling cutter before flying via tornillo onto the other five as the crowd went wild.

Dragging Kenny inside, DT launched their triple shotgun dropkick then the risky business combo for two.  A rapid sequence between Pac and Omega saw the former blasted with an elbow to the nose, which the Bucks then targeted on the outside before Matt launched via moonsault off the top to the outside onto the Bros.

A Kintaro Crusher continued the attack on Pac’s broken nose as ‘f*** CM Punk’ started up again.

Very clearly, they booked this for the Elite to be heels, and the crowd is, surprisingly, at best 50/50.

(Don’t normally comment on the picture-in-picture – Matt Jackson set-up a Buckshot Lariat and deliberately fell on his ass.  Wow.)

Returning to Matt preventing the tag, Omega bit Pac’s hand but was blasted with a rebound-German-suplex, finally allowing the tag to Penta – cross body off the top, swinging dtt, tilt a whirl, another, another, crowd going nuts for Penta.  Rey in with the Bucks, armdrag/hurracanrana combo while perched atop the ropes, down into a Matt superkick but popped back up to hit one of his own.  Everybody down.

Pac and Omega back in: Matt with a knee to Pac’s back from the apron, V-Trigger, Nick tagged in, the Bros knocked off the apron as the Elite removed Pac’s mask, the Brit fighting from his knees but overwhelmed and hit with a triple superkick – broken up at two by the Bros who were immediately flung back out to be hit by a Nick escaleira.

Another V-Trigger on Pac, One-Winged Angel set-up, Pac slipped out, hauled back up, GO TO SLEEP! Even worse, Pac kicked out.  Yeesh.

Tag to Matt, Meltzer Driver interrupted by Fenix walking the ropes.  He then walloped Kenny and Nick with a tope con hiro.  In-ring, Matt hit a mule kick to Pac, then got a hammer off Brandon but Penta blasted him with one of his own as Death Triangle went up two-zip.

Post-match, Fenix wasn’t happy at how they’d won.

This was excellent, liked it much better than Saturday’s match, had more of a story.  And of course, all the Punk stuff was fast-food-fun.

WINNER: Death Triangle

Renee on-stage to announce that Thunder Rosa’s been asked to relinquish the women’s title.  No more interim!!!!!!  Then introduced Jamie Hayter, who brought the girls with her.  Britt snatched the mic before Hayter could speak, though did it to mostly put her over.  Little – if no – sign of dissention.

Excalibur was calling the pair ‘The Killer and the Pillar’.  Don’t know if that’s official.

Tay Melo & Anna Jay vs Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter vs Willow Nightingale & Skye Blue

Backstory: The JAS girls beat-up Blue on Dark until Willow made the save

Hayter and Melo – still want to write Conti – began with a headlock into a takeover, back up to their feet with Jamie maintaining her grip, then runnning-through Tay as Anna came in.  Hayter suplexed both, then hit her suplex/powerslam combo for a count of two on Tay.

Tag to Britt, cradle for two, couple duck-unders, slingblade, another two.

Fighting back, Tay hit a shot to the face, then she and Anna hit a double suplex, leading to Britt desperately tagging Willow, who steamrolled both heels with hip attacks and high boots.  Cazadora from she and Blue got two slaps of the mat on Anna.

Leading to Nightingale being flung outside where Melo shoved her face-first into the guard rail as the ads arrived.

Skye Blue was running wild when we came back – including her low kick to the head which looked really good here.  Britt tagged herself in, starting a sequence as she sent Blue packing only to be hit with a DVD by Willow, who Anna hit with a heel kick, to be blasted by an awesome boot to the face by Hayter, taken out by a Tay pumpkick, Skye Blue back in with a pumpkick and a cazadora into a Code Blue (v. cool), Hayter in to setup the Curb Stomp by Baker for the win.

Excellent finishing sequence.

It really stood out here why Jamie Hayter’s so popular.  Everything she did looked good, and while she was in there, so did everything her opponent did.  Moreover, it looked like a fight, like a contest, rather than a sequence of athletic exchanges.  Would like to see she and Tay work more.

Excalibur then noted that retroactively, Toni Storm’s reign counted as being officially women’s champ, per Tony Khan.

WINNER: Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter

Renee backstage with FTR and Top Flight.  Yes Please!  Dax noted that he doesn’t throw around compliments but he sees a lot in them and challenged them to take over tag team wrestling for decades to come.

The youngsters challenged them to put the ROH titles on the line Friday.  Yes Please!

…..

The Acclaimed then hit the ring, along with the Daddy of Derrieres of course.  Bowens gets more confident on the mic every week.  It’s Thanksgiving and all that so there’s lots to be thankful for, but most importantly… cue Billy Gunn removing his bandage – Scissor Time!

Or maybe not.  Professional mood-killers Jarrett, Lethal et al. appeared on the screen, warning the Acclaimed as the crowd chanted ‘TNA Sucks!’.

Finally, for the first time in a long-time, they could scissor properly to finish the segment.

Jarrett’s still around then.

Chris Jericho vs Tomohiro Ishii, ROH Title

Backstory: This was announced during a Jericho promo Sunday, the latter said Ishii used to run errands for him & called himself Ishii’s ‘senpai’

The usual ROH guys joined the crew on comms/announcing.

Jericho gave the crowd his customary greeting, Ishii greeted him with a slap.  Sparking a stiff exchange – though very safe – leaving Jericho to take a powder as Ishii invited him back inside.

Where forearms took the place of slaps, Ishii again coming out on top.  He avoided the Code Breaker, Jericho did the same re: an enziguri.  Both tried to bump each other off-place, the import again got the better of it.  Cue chops to the chest.

Thus far, this is a slow build, not much movement – two guys going mano a mano in the middle.

Blood had joined us as we returned.  Pouring from Jericho’s chest, presumably as a result of the import’s knife-edge chops.  Which were still going – the two stood in the middle, flinging chops, neither leaving their feet.

A rare irish-whip led to Ishii charging through Jericho until Le Champion pounded away in the corner, then headed upstairs for ten of the best.  Out of which Ishii dragged him into a running powerbomb for two slaps of the mat.  Jericho ignored a lariat, Ishii did the same with a big boot but Jericho landed a shot to the neck, sending Ishii to the apron, where Jericho leapt for his dropkick but was met with a headbutt.

Dragging Jericho out there with him, the Ocho turned the tables, absolutely spiking Ishii with a ddt.

Back inside, back to the slugfest, Ishii ducked under, hit a German, Jericho responded in kind, then another after Ishii popped up, the Japanese popping up again but dropping back down out of sheer exhaustion.  Jericho launched a Lionsault, Ishii kicked out with authority, straight up into a Codebreaker for a close two.

Judas Effect prepared; Ishii met it with a headbutt, then a sliding lariat for two.  Jericho countered a brainbuster into the Walls but couldn’t synch it in.  Ishii hit a Codebreaker then a lariat for very-nearly three.  Back to their feet, Ishii launched an enziguri, Jericho caught the boot, into the Walls.  Ishii kept fighting towards the ropes, Jericho kept dragging him back, finally torquing into the high-angle old-school Lion Tamer to finish the job.

Riccaboni noted that Jericho had won without cheating as Claudio absolutely paintbrushed the Ocho atop the ramp.

Most of the way through this, it felt kind-of boring.  But it built, and built, until by the end it felt real and dramatic.  Good main-event.

WINNER: Chris Jericho

Overall impressions

An enjoyable show with a fun, comedic opener, a fast-paced women’s contest and two good-to-excellent matches which were totally different in style.  So, as usual, the wrestling was on-point.

It’s the booking they need to sort out.  Namely, the growing list of acts received differently-than-intended by the crowd.

Thanks for reading.  And Happy Thanksgiving to all y’all in the States.  Enjoy!

Interim no longer: Thunder Rosa stripped off the AEW Women’s title

Thunder Rosa is no longer the AEW Women’s champion after it was revealed last night on Dynamite that the company has asked Rosa to surrender the title due to her injuries and no definite timeline for her return.

With Rosa dropping the title, Jamie Hayter is now no longer the interim AEW Women’s champion, but the proper champ.

“Thank you #ThunderArmy for all the support and @aew for being there for me. Dream-like moments happened in this run, and this is not how I wanted to lose the championship, but you deserve a present champion; on to the next chapter,” Rosa wrote on Twitter after the announcement.

Rosa was injured before All Out and her match against Toni Storm was canceled and replaced by a fatal four-way to crown a new interim champion, a match which Storm won. Storm lost the title to Hayter at Full Gear.

It was also announced that Toni Storm’s reign will be recognized as a regular champion without the interim.

How MMA has boosted casinos

Mixed martial arts (MMA) has continually gained popularity and is referred to as a modern boxing version. MMA has crafted its unique culture over the past years, especially across multiple social media platforms, allowing online casino software developers to provide users with gaming choices.

Best Bets to Make at an MMA Event

Unlike basketball and football, the MMA markets are usually slim. There are opportunities for you to expand your betting via PPV events that come once every few weeks. Below is a list of the leading MMA betting markets.

PPV Specials

UFC matches occur practically every week with a week’s break. Numbered PPV events or Fight Night card events are more likely to happen every Saturday. PPV events are less common than Flight Night Cards but are present every few weeks and bring multiple new betting options to users. Sportsbooks will sometimes open up additional markets for users as fights get better and more prominent.

Some sportsbooks allow bettors to place a bet in an approach of victory market. The strategy includes options such as a kick, punch style, or submission. These markets are an option for significant fights on PPV cards and are extremely high value as bettors request a considerable lot to win the bet.

Outright Markets

Outright markets enable bettors to pick the MMA fighter they think is more likely to win. MMA betting has a provision for a draw, although the probability of most matches ending in a tie is minimal. An outright market enables you to bet on either a win or a draw. Selecting a single outcome and upping the possibility of its occurrence minimizes the odds. A method of victory allows bettors to place a bet on a fighter who’s likely to win by decision. The approach offers additional value and may result in an excellent chance with adequate research. Outright markets are popular in a single bet aside from a parlay.

The Link Between Online Casinos and MMA

Brand Ambassadors

Businesses operating online casinos sometimes hire sponsored MMA fighters as marketing ambassadors. Most people follow a particular brand when a top figure represents it. Online casinos hire individuals with tons of social media experience to help them define the brand in the market. There are numerous regulations regarding how online casinos should promote their businesses. Working with a well-known MMA fighter to act as a brand ambassador is essential as it ensures the target audience sees the advertisement.

Sponsorships

Numerous sports often impact most people as they become well-known and expand. The size and revenue of a company increases after reaching a given point. The same happens in MMA, as most online casinos often sponsor established fighters to boost fans’ interests, which helps the company to grow in the long run. Online casinos support most sports events to appeal to their audience and sports enthusiasts. Aside from event planners, they pay close attention to particular wrestlers due to their broader audience base, allowing them to persuade a significant audience to support their business.

Betting on MMA Can Generate Money

People who enjoy betting or watching wrestling matches are included. Sports betting is an excellent way of generating additional money by placing a wager on MMA wrestling. Placing a bet online is usually more convenient than doing the same at a brick-and-mortar casino, as all you require is an account that has an online bookmaker. There are numerous sports available, including wrestling and football.

MMA Wrestling Slot Games

Online casino businesses like gamingcity.com are aware of the sheer number of individuals who enjoy participating in wrestling video games. The iGaming industry wants to give participants things that appeal to them. Slot machines have multiple themes, including MMA themes. These slot games often charge royalties for users to utilize a famous athlete’s image or name, which indirectly helps support the players’ preferred boxers.

MMA has had a more significant impact on the gambling industry than ever imagined. As seen above, there is a close relationship between online casinos and MMA wrestling, which aids online casinos in achieving their objectives.

The Elite goes behind enemy lines in Chicago tonight live on Dynamite

The Thanksgiving Eve episode of Dynamite airs tonight on TBS from Chicago and it will be interesting to see the reaction The Elite receives considering their history with Chicago’s own CM Punk!

The Elite will be taking on Death Triangle in match two of their best of seven series for the AEW World Trios titles. The titles will be only decided after one of the teams reaches four wins so even if The Elite wins tonight, they won’t get the titles. Death Triangle are 1-0 up in the series.

Also tonight, the ROH World title will be on the line as Chris Jericho defends the title against Tomohiro Ishii. Ethan Page and Ricky Starks collide in the AEW World Title Eliminator tournament final, and Orange Cassidy defends the All-Atlantic title against Jake Hager.

Plus, we’ll hear from William Regal who last Saturday turned on Jon Moxley and an update on the Jade Cargill confrontation with rap star Bow Wow from his concert in Miami.

Kenny Omega on All Out backstage brawl: “I’d encourage people to let it go”

Speaking to Sports Illustrated, former AEW World and Trios champion Kenny Omega said that it’s time for people to “let go” what happened after All Out.

“There are things no one can talk about, so I’d encourage people to let it go,” Omega said. “It doesn’t change that we want a team effort in AEW.”

The wrestling press has tried to get more details of what happened on that night in Chicago but everyone involved remained tight-lipped about the situation due to potential legal issues they might have.

“I encourage people to move away from it because there is no information to be released. Though I cannot talk about it, I do want the fans to know I still want the best for pro wrestling,” Omega continued.

The former champ said that he hopes that people don’t forget that at the end of the day, they’re just human beings struggling to show their art and it’s not a case of The Elite against CM Punk.
