Ethan Page wins the NXT North American title from Ricky Saints

Jayc Jayne’s NXT Women’s title win was not the only title change on NXT yesterday as Ethan Page also became the new NXT North American champion after he beat Ricky Saints in the opening match of the show.

The two former AEW stars had a huge brawl to open the show and Page nearly took out Saints after he dropped him throat first on a steel chair. Saints’ throat injury played out for the rest of the match and while he put in a valiant effort, Page finished him with the Twisted Grin finisher.

This is Page’s first run with the NXT North American title, having previously won the NXT title. Saints won the title on the April 1 episode of the show from Shawn Spears, with his reign lasting 55 days.

Jacy Jayne becomes the new NXT Women’s champion after shock main event win

An unexpected new NXT Women’s champion was crowned last night on The CW as Jacy Jayne shocked the wrestling world, defeating champion Stephanie Vaquer to win the title.

The win came after Vaquer had Jayne locked up in an armbar while hanging from the ropes, only for Fallon Henley to come around and kick Vaquer in the face while Jasmyn Nyx distracted the referee. Jayne then hit a discus punch and pinned Vaquer as the stunned audience looked on.

NXT ring announcer Mike Rome looked shocked and it was only after a few that he announced Jayne as the new champion.

The broadcast ended with Vaquer looking on as the Fatal Influence trio posed in the ring with Jayne holding up the NXT Women’s title above her shoulder.

This ends Vaquer’s 77-day reign as NXT champion. She won the title from Giulia at the NXT episode from The Theater at Madison Square Garden in March in a title vs title match.

Zoey Stark undergoes knee surgery, starts road to recovery

Zoey Stark underwent knee surgery for a horrific injury she suffered last week on Raw during a triple threat match against Rhea Ripley and Kairi Sane.

A mistimed missile dropkick nearly snapped her leg in half and Stark had to be taken out of the match, eventually carried to the back by the WWE doctor at ringside.

In a post on her Instagram Stories, Stark posted a photo of her heavily-bandaged knee in a brace, writing that her road to recovery starts now, with the label “day 1.”

Stark wrote last week that she would be out for a while but the comeback is greater than the setback.

The man behind “Real American” song, Rick Derringer, passes away

Rick Derringer, the musician and producer behind the popular Hulk Hogan song “Real American,” passed away yesterday at the age of 77.

It was his friendship with Cydni Lauper which introduced him to the World Wrestling Federation, with Derringer and Jim Steinman producing The Wrestling Album. He then wrote “Real American,” the song which to this day is used by Hulk Hogan, becoming one of the most recognizable and most popular theme songs in the history of professional wrestling.

Derringer also produced the WWF’s second album, Piledriver: The Wrestling Album II and co-wrote the Demolition theme song as well.

Liv Morgan returns on Raw after filming movie in Japan

Liv Morgan returned on Monday Night Raw last night as tensions inside the Judgment Day’s clubhouse continues to rise.

Morgan showed up just in time after Roxanne Perez offered Dom Mysterio some chicken nuggets and then started massaging his shoulder, where both were caught in 4K!

Liv was not impressed as Mysterio tried to explain himself, but she had no time for him as she had bigger things to take care of, especially talking to Raw GM Adam Pearce for a Money In The Bank qualifying match.

In the meantime, Morgan got herself a match against Kairi Sane when she and Raquel bumped into the Damage CTRL members. Morgan ran her mouth and said after she wins MITB, she would cash in on Iyo Sky. Sane then challenged her to a match.

The WWE Women’s Tag Team champ lost her match however following confusion with Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez at ringside, with Sane pinning Morgan.

In a later segment, Morgan voiced her displeasure with Rodriguez, telling her that she was the veteran out there and should have known better how to deal with the situation.

Morgan spent a few weeks in Japan filming the movie Bat Lieutenant: Tokyo and returned to the United States last week.

Hornswoggle talks WWE nostalgia deal, meeting The Rock, DX, and more

Former WWE Superstar Hornswoggle was the latest guest on Insight with Chris Van Vliet. He talks about being signed to a WWE nostalgia deal, the first time he met The Rock, his favourite WrestleMania memory and more!

On being signed to a WWE Nostalgia deal:

“Legitimately, [my son] Landon and I were on our way to see Blink-182. I get the call, I literally had to pull over, and I just froze. You know me, you know how I view me. Through these interviews, a lot of people know how I view me. I don’t view myself as very great in wrestling. So to have that recognition is the ultimate. This is pretty f*cking awesome. It just makes me feel like I mattered in WWE with this now, that it wasn’t a got rid of me, released me, which is okay. No one deserves a job. That’s my thing. Whenever people get released, internet goes crazy about ‘How could they do this?’ No one in any workforce deserves a job. You’re lucky to have that, especially that kind of job. So now to be back under a legends deal, it’s incredible. It’s just the coolest thing ever.”

On the first time he met The Rock:

“He thought I was a Make-A-Wish kid. [This was] going into the year he hosted [WrestleMania 27]. He cut a promo announcing he was gonna be the host. I was like I’m gonna meet my buddy Dwayne, I’m gonna be his best friend. So I am in a suit, a legit suit, not my leprechaun outfit, with my gear bag, and I’m gonna meet him behind the curtain as he comes through. In my mind, best friends. I see my buddy Dwayne come back through, oh boy here we go! I say, ‘Hey man, thank you so much for coming back. Thanks for what you’re gonna do for WrestleMania and what you’re gonna do for the company, and just glad to have you back. Good to meet you. My name is Dylan.’ He extends his arm out, goes, ‘Did you have a good time tonight buddy?’ Taps me on the shoulder, leaves. I go, Oh no, he doesn’t realize I work here. I was on the show before that. I told Kofi, thinking he would have my back and support me. He supported me by texting 97 people immediately while driving because he couldn’t wait on it. Within 30 seconds, I had so many people message me, ‘Rock thought you were a Make-A-Wish kid, huh?’ Big Show called him out the next week about this, because it got to Big Show. Rock goes, ‘No. Yeah, I did. Yeah, I did. I don’t watch the show.’ I approached him about it too and he said, ‘Yeah, Big Show already got on me about this.'”

On his favorite WrestleMania memory:

“I always go back between 23, the bump from Ken, and 24. 24, that match was because of me. That’s not an ego thing, it was written because of me, because of my role. It’s crazy. Having an entrance at WrestleMania and that was my first day back with WrestleMania. Insane. Love it.”

On a possible WWE return:

I would love to. The producing thing is probably my mindset more than in-ring, I’d love to do that. You never know. Never burn a bridge. They gave me 10 years living my absolute dream and paying me well, letting me provide for my son. No reason to burn that bridge.

Vikingo vs Gable match advertised for AAA Mega Championship, but…

A graphic promoting El Hijo Del Vikingo vs Chad Gable at the upcoming Worlds Collide event had the text that it’s for the AAA Mega Championship…a championship which none of the two men in the match currently hold.

But Vikingo is set to take on champion Alberto El Patron this coming Saturday for that title, so the company might have inadvertently spoiled the result of that match.

El Patron has been champion since August of last year and has been the top guy in the promotion since then. His previous legal issues raised eyebrows when it was revealed that WWE was picking up his deal, along with several others, as part of their acquisition of AAA Lucha Libre.

The Mexican star last worked for WWE under the name of Alberto Del Rio in August 2014 and was fired for unprofessional conduct.

WWE Women’s Intercontinental title match set for MITB 2025 with stipulations

Women's Intercontinental title

The WWE Women’s Intercontinental title will be on the line at Money In The Bank with champion Lyra Valkyria defending against fellow Irishwoman Becky Lynch in a rematch from Backlash.

In a segment on Raw last night, Lynch proposed a stipulation for their match where if she lost, she would never challenge for that title again as long as Valkyria is champion but if she wins, then Valkyria has to raise her hand.

Valkyria cost Becky a spot in the women’s Money In The Bank ladder match last week, interfering and preventing her from getting the pin on Natalya. It was Roxanne Perez who eventually pinned Natalya to advance.

The NXT Great American Bash will take place on Saturday, July 12 live from Center Stage Theater in Atlanta, Georgia.

This will be an afternoon show and will collide with AEW’s All In: Texas after AEW moved the show to avoid running against Saturday Night’s Main Event which is scheduled for an 8PM start time on the same day.

WWE did not announce the start time for Great American Bash just yet but AEW’s pay-per-view is set for a 3PM start.

NXT Great American Bash is part of a weekend in Atlanta for WWE which also has the Evolution premium live event on Sunday, July 13 from the State Farm Arena.

Penta and Seth Rollins advance to the MITB ladder match

Two more WWE Superstars qualified for the Money In The Bank ladder match following last night’s episode of Raw on Netflix.

In the first qualifier, Penta defeated Dragon Lee and Chad Gable in an incredible match, with Penta getting the pin on a busted-open Chad Gable after interference from El Hijo Del Vikingo.

In the second match, Seth Rollins earned a spot after he beat Sami Zayn and Finn Balor in the main event of the show. Rollins pinned Balor after Dom Mysterio slid in a chair, supposedly to help Balor but Rollins hit the curb stomp on Balor on the chair to seal the victory.

They now join Solo Sikoa and LA Knight in the match with two more open spots remaining.

Jim Ross undergoing colon cancer surgery tomorrow morning

Hall of Famer Jim Ross gave an update on his health in the latest episode of the Grilling JR podcast.

Ross is undergoing surgery tomorrow morning at 6AM and said he was not in currently any pain. Doctors told him that the plan is to stay in recovery in hospital for the following six days, after which he can go home barring any complications.

JR said that he prepared himself mentally and physically for this, which is always stressful when it involves surgery.

When asked by his co-host Conrad Thompson to explain the cancer situation, JR forgot which cancer he has and when Thompson mentioned colon cancer, he said no because he had that years ago. But, JR announced he was diagnosed with colon cancer over a week ago.

“I can’t remember what I got. I got it in two places,” Ross said.

JR likened his body to an old car, running it for too long and too hard. “I’m trying to really slow down after surgery,” he said, adding that he believes he can still do the shifts he had with AEW but he’s not sure anyone believes that.

Ross said he will probably talk to Tony Khan over the next few weeks to see where he stands and put over Khan for taking care of him ever since he signed with AEW.

TNA’s Mike Santana to make WWE in-ring debut tomorrow on NXT

TNA star Mike Santana will have his WWE in-ring debut tomorrow night on NXT on CW.

Santana appeared on last night’s Battleground premium live event and was interviewed in a backstage segment where he said he would go after the winner of the Joe Hendry vs Trick Williams TNA title match. Santana noted that it took him 16 long years to walk through a WWE door but wanted to make it clear that he was there to go for the TNA title.

His interview was interrupted by the No Quarter Catch Crew, with Charlie Dempsey showing his disapproval of having TNA stars around. Tavion Heights tried to smooth things over and asked for a one-on-one match against Santana tomorrow.

Tessa Blanchard misses TNA show due to TMJ dysfunction

Tessa Blanchard did not participate at the Canada vs USA Border Brawl show, promoted by TNA Wrestling this past weekend due to an injury.

TNA announced on their X account that Blanchard sustained a Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction during her match at TNA Under Siege and was unable to compete yesterday.

“She is expected to be medically cleared and return to action imminently,” TNA wrote in the post.

Even TNA President Carlos Silva chimed in, reacting to a post by a fan on X who said that TNA was posting fake news. Silva said that “it’s real news” and that’s why he told them to post it.

Tony Khan on WWE counter-programming: “It’s pretty consistent”

AEW President Tony Khan was asked about the counter-programming from “other companies,” scheduling events on top of or around big AEW dates during the Double or Nothing post-show media scrum.

The question was obviously regarding WWE, which has been booking events to air on the same day or same weekend of major AEW pay-per-views, similar to this past weekend with SNME and NXT Battleground and SNME and Evolution during All In weekend in July.

“It’s pretty consistent,” Khan said. “I say it’s the most consistent event head-to-head scheduling I’ve seen since Jim Crockett Promotions saw a lot of scheduling that went that way and I can tell you this will go a lot differently than that did.”

The response got some laughs and claps from the members of the press who attended the press conference.

Behind the curtains

The room is dim, lit mainly by the soft glow from the bar tucked in the back. Attire varies a lot. You might see a guy in jeans and a T-shirt, an older woman dressed to the nines, or a sparkly twenty-something in a rainbow jumpsuit. The air carries that familiar mix of booze and stale hotel convention-room musk. It’s unpolished, a little chaotic, and full of heart.

Curious eyes peek through a slit in the curtain. They catch glimpses of the queens behind the curtain, prepping for their big moment. They catch quick glimpses of the queens before their big entrances. After each performance that wows the crowd, the audience watches as they leave. They go to their makeshift “dressing room,” a curtained-off spot in the hallway. The mic glitches, one host is nowhere to be found, and seats are still empty—but the room hums with anticipation. This little show is about to make magic.

And much like a night at Hellspin Casino, it’s not about polish or perfection — it’s about boldness, flair, and the rush of unpredictability. Because this, darling, is DRAG.

There’s a lot to tackle before showtime. The transformation doesn’t happen overnight.

Drag demands serious skill. Imagine someone who can beat a face, pick the perfect outfit, own the stage, and charm a crowd—that’s a drag artist. They need to lip sync and engage the crowd. They must memorize music and dance moves. Also, they should be fit to perform the choreography. After setting up their performance and persona, artists need to network. They must find venues to perform at. They might also have to travel and cover those costs. Sadly, these challenges are the toughest. Drag artists often struggle to perform or to be accepted at all.

In many progressive places, the stigma around drag is fading—but not in Rapid City, South Dakota. Rapid City has a population of 80,000. It is primarily conservative, white, Christian, and Republican. It sits far from big cities and has a strong conservative history. Being openly queer here is tough, and drag shows often struggle to find support.

Still, local drag performers keep going. One of them is Patrick Fitzgibbon, also known as Dixy Divine. He’s been doing drag in Rapid for six years.

“I’ve worked hard, and so have my girls, to build up drag at Aby’s,” he said. “We do a show every month—thanks to me.”

Fitzgibbon stands as a cornerstone of Rapid City’s drag scene. Divine Productions is one of the few companies in the area. It’s a rare success in a challenging environment.

“As a trans woman in South Dakota, I’ve felt ignored and rejected,” Grace said. “Pick any harsh word—you name it, I’ve felt it.”

Drag and trans identities are deeply connected. For many trans folks, drag is more than performance—it’s a creative outlet or even a path to better understanding themselves. Drag plays with gender. Men dress in feminine styles, while women adopt masculine looks. Many others find a mix between the two. Sometimes, people discover new things about themselves by dressing up for a show.

That kind of self-discovery can be powerful. But not everyone gets it—or accepts it.

“I laugh off the hate,” said Fitzgibbon. “You can joke about it a little, but don’t let it ruin your day. Our community is facing far more pressing battles than a few ignorant comments.

Queer people face daily hate—from strangers on the street to headlines on the news. Coping takes both community and courage. While support helps, it also takes inner strength. For Cynthia Grace, that strength comes from living boldly, without apology.

“This isn’t about drag,” Grace said. “As a trans woman, I’ve seen how politicized everything has become over the last decade. I’ve learned that I have a choice. Not everyone can do what I do—I know I’m loud, bold, and stand out. But someone has to. Someone needs to say, ‘I’m not hiding. I’m here. I’m not your enemy—I’m like you.’”

Drag and trans identities often get dragged into politics, but drag itself is so much more. It’s creativity, joy, expression, and yes, sometimes a form of protest. But at its core, it’s art.

“It’s all about being entertained,” said Grace. “Come to a show,” Grace said. “You’ll see all kinds of people and styles.” Like any art, it’s subjective. If it’s not your thing, that’s fine — you’re free to leave.”

But at its heart, drag is about fun and self-expression.

Backstage, the nerves kick in. Your heart’s racing, your lashes are on, and you’re seconds away from stepping into the spotlight. The crowd is out there—and you’re ready to light up the room. You peek through the curtain—a few people are waiting, smiling, holding tips. When your name is called, you take a deep breath, lift your chin, and walk out there ready to shine.

Because no matter how small the show or town, drag is here — and it’s beautiful.

“Hangman” Adam Page wins the men’s Owen Hart Cup tournament

“Hangman” Adam Page is going to All In: Texas with an AEW World title shot secured after last night he defeated Will Ospreay in the main event of Double or Nothing to win the men’s Owen Hart Cup tournament.

The hard-hitting 36-minute match did not disappoint and was worthy of the main event status as both Page and Ospreay put on a classic in their first-ever one-on-one match. Page won after he hit his buckshot lariat finisher.

Page went through Josh Alexander in the first round and Kyle Fletcher in the second round before reaching the final while Ospreay went through Kevin Knight in the first round and then Konosuke Takeshita in the second.

The popular “Hangman” has been without AEW gold since May 2022, losing the title to CM Punk at that year’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view.
