Mick Foley to be next guest on the Stone Cold Podcast

Stone Cold Steve Austin’s next guest on his Stone Cold Podcast on the WWE Network will be WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley and the episode will air on Thursday, March 31, immediately following Smackdown.

WWE.COM is promoting the interview as a live broadcast although it’s not known if the two will actually be taping it live. In the past WWE promoted Austin’s interview with Shawn Michaels as live even though it was taped weeks before.

On March 31 all the WWE talent will already be in Dallas, Texas, for WrestleMania and Smackdown that night is usually a combination of taped matches and live cut-ins from Axxess. It could be possible that Austin and Foley will be taping it at Axxess or somewhere else in Dallas as both will be there at the time.

According to stats released by WWE, the Stone Cold Podcast is one of the most-watched broadcast on the Network and Austin’s interviews with the likes of Vince McMahon, Triple H, Paul Heyman, Brock Lesnar, and others have earned rave reviews from fans.

The Iron Sheik pens hilarious open letter to Hogan and Gawker

WWE Hall of Famer The Iron Sheik wrote a hilarious open letter – all in caps – to Hulk Hogan and Gawker and it was published by Esquire.com.

Sheik said that without him there would be no Hulkamania and he did the honors for him and “Mr Kennedy McMahon” when he could have taken the offer to break his leg. He said that Hogan told him that he “owed him one” but he hasn’t seen that day yet but “it’s okay” as he’s in the Hall of Fame and he’s a legend forever.

Despite calling Hogan a “half and half howdy doody looking jabronie guitar player,” he said that Hulk is still “one of the boys” and it’s a shame that today “nobody give a f**k about history.”

Turning his attention to Gawker, he said that they made Hogan look bad by getting “cheap heat” and called them “no good son of a bitch” as they don’t respect the privacy and have no class.

“I can’t wait I see Mr. Gawker I suplex you put you in camel clutch break your his back I make him humble,” Sheik added.

Gotta love The Iron Sheik! You can read the full letter at http://bit.ly/1UbVURR.

Kurt Angle gets destroyed in final TNA match against Lashley

Impact last night featured the last match of Kurt Angle for the company, a match against Bobby Lashley which main evented the final stop of the UK Maximum Impact tour.

Following three spears, Angle did the time-honored tradition and put over his opponent for his last match. After the two embraced as the fans gave them a standing ovation, Lashley knocked Angle out again, hit him with another spear and got rid of the referee as well. Drew Galloway and Eddie Edwards tried to make the save but they got speared for their trouble and then Lashley laid out Angle with a fifth spear of the evening.

Kurt Angle – who has worked for TNA since 2006 – has made it clear that he’s not retiring and only taking a break but made it sound highly unlikely that he is returning to TNA. He will have one more match against Rey Mysterio on iPPV for a promotion called UR Fight on March 20.

Vince McMahon talks about Shane, Steph, Triple H, and John Cena

The Orlando Sentinel newspaper has a comprehensive Q&A story with WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon which was done yesterday after the press conference to announce WrestleMania 33 at the Citrus Bowl.

Interesting topics from the Q&A were John Cena, Triple H, Stephanie and Shane. Vince described Cena as the Babe Ruth and a real warrior of the company. He said knowing Cena he will probably be still going at this when he’s 70 like him as he loves it that much.

Regarding his son Shane, he described his return as “awesome” and always hoped that one day they would be back together. He said the tension sometimes between family members at work can “be very difficult” as the “old bull is not ready to give it up, his horns are still sharp.” He stopped short of saying if there will be a corporate job for Shane after this whole WrestleMania angle is over but said he enjoys performing with him.

Vince said that he’s very proud of Triple H and this may be his last WrestleMania as a performer but it was extraordinary to watch him grow in his position backstage. “He’s a little long in the tooth as I say to his face and we all laugh about that now because I’m 70 years old,” joked Vince. As for Stephanie, he said she had an even more of a meteoric rise and she fits everywhere in terms of brand representation where no one else does. “Talk about an ambassador, she’s obviously beyond an ambassador and her growth corporately has been great. I’m very proud of both of them,” Vince concluded.

Hogan and Gawker’s attorney square off over Hulk’s…penis size!

Day 2 of Hulk Hogan vs Gawker trial took a weird twist as Hulk and Gawker’s attorney went head to head arguing about Hogan’s penis size.

To show to the jurors that Hogan was open about his sex life in public, Gawker’s attorney brought up the interview on Howard Stern where Hogan was boasting that he has a 10 inch penis. Hogan interrupted and said that he doesn’t have a 10 inch penis and he was talking in the Hulk Hogan character, where as Terry Bollea’s penis is, well, not that big.

Hogan kept telling Gawker’s Mike Berry that there’s a difference between Terry Bollea, the person sitting here giving the testimony, and Hulk Hogan, the character from professional wrestling. He said that Hulk Hogan’s privacy went out of the window the moment he decided to be in the world of pro wrestling but that doesn’t mean Terry Bollea’s privacy had to be breached. Hogan told Berry that he’s trying to help him understand and will keep trying doing his best!

Raw rating for 03/07/2016

Monday Night Raw this week saw a dip of 173,000 viewers from last week’s show, getting an average of 3,279,000 viewers, down from 3,551,000 from last week.

Hour one was the best one with 3,760,000 viewers, then it went down slightly to 3,614,000 in the second hour, before a big drop to 3,279,000 in the third and final hour.

This has been the worst Raw numbers-wise since February 1 and with the show inching closer to WrestleMania that is not really good news. (Ratings credit: Showbuzzdaily.com)

John Cena admits he won’t be cleared to wrestle at WrestleMania 32

During today’s press conference at the Citrus Bowl to announce WrestleMania coming to the city of Orlando, former 15 time World Heavyweight champion John Cena admitted that he won’t be wrestling at this year’s extravaganza.

“For the first time in a decade in a half, this year I will be watching,” Cena said while addressing the media. Cena has hinted on Twitter multiple times at an early return with carefully written tweets despite undergoing shoulder surgery in early January to repair a torn right rotator cuff. Such surgery usually takes 6 to 9 months to heal from.

Obviously disappointed, Cena said that WrestleMania “means the world” to him but he wouldn’t be cleared to return by the time the show comes around in a few weeks.

WWE to open physical Hall of Fame and restaurant in Orlando

The website Attractions Management posted an exclusive story today saying that sources at Universal Studios have told the website that WWE will be opening a physical Hall of Fame location as well as a restaurant before WrestleMania 33.

The new WWE venture, described as similar in style to the company’s former restaurant in Times Square – will be replacing the NBA City at Universal CityWalk adjacent to the theme park and there will be on display famous wrestling memorabilia of the promotion’s Hall of Fame inductees.

The restaurant will also incorporate a retail area with tons of WWE merchandise for sale and several screens showing wrestling on loop. The restaurant menu will feature WWE-themed meals.

Opening the location before WrestleMania 33 makes perfect sense since WWE would then take advantage of over 70,000 fans who would be in the area for the big show.

Orlando, Orange County mayors and Florida Governor talk about WrestleMania 33

When the race to host WrestleMania 33 was in full swing, Orlando wasn’t considered the front runner to land the big show. Minneapolis was leading the pack and the new Vikings stadium was going to host it.

The plan was so solid that Lester Bagley, the Executive Vice President of the Minnesota Vikings stadium let it slip that WrestleMania is coming to the brand new US Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis during an interview on the news.

But somehow, somewhere, plans changed, and Minnesota lost its footing in the race with tourist-heavy Orlando snatching the second WrestleMania in 9 years.

“We’re excited to bring this event back to Orlando. Florida set a tourism record by welcoming 105 million visitors in 2015, and WWE will help bring even more visitors to Florida in 2017,” said Florida Governor Rick Scott. ”We’re excited WWE once again chose Florida to host WrestleMania.”

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer said that the city of Orlando is extremely proud to have the show return to the Citrus Bowl. “WrestleMania 33 will proudly display to the world the incredible reconstruction that recently went into transforming the iconic Citrus Bowl.”

Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs also chipped in, expressing delight that WWE chose Central Florida as the host destination for next year’s mega event. “The week-long series of events will provide a significant economic boost to our region, while giving visitors a chance to experience Orlando’s world-class attractions.”

Payback 2016 comes to Chicago on May 1

Payback this year will be taking place at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois on May 1 with pre-sale on now on Ticketmaster.com using the code CHICAGO.

The pre-sale will end on March 11 at 10PM CST and tickets go on sale to the general public on March 12 at Noon CST. Ticket prices are $25, $50, $80, $125, $155, $350, and $500.

The month of May will host two pay-per-views, Payback and then Extreme Rules in New Jersey just three weeks later on May 22. New Jersey was originally getting Payback but WWE then switched the two shows.

WWE officially announces WrestleMania 33 in Orlando at press conference

Earlier today WWE held a press conference at the Citrus Bowl to officially announce WrestleMania coming to the city on April 2, 2017.

Florida Governor Rick Scott joined Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs for the announcement, which was also made in conjunction with the Central Florida Sports Commission. WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Triple H, WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day, Divas Champion Charlotte and Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon were among the Superstars and Divas in attendance. Also joining them was John Cena.

“Orlando welcomes people and makes the impossible possible, makes dreams reality,” John Cena said. “Orlando, just like WrestleMania, makes moments that last a lifetime.”

Vince McMahon added, “You will leave the Citrus Bowl emotionally exhausted. Everyone will enjoy the drama and the athleticism … but most importantly, you’ll leave with a big smile on your face.”

Stephanie McMahon described the city of Orlando as the second home of WWE. The WWE Performance Center is located in Orlando and there are rumors that the company will open a physical Hall of Fame on the grounds of Universal Studios as well.

WWE also updated its WrestleMania logo for the return to Florida, with the traditional WrestleMania logo on the front and an image of the sun embedded in the logo. You can see it above.

Hogan embarrassed both as a person and character over sex tape leak

Hulk Hogan testified yesterday in his case against Gawker, saying that the whole leak of the sex tape embarrassed him both as a person and as a character.

“I was embarrassed by what it did to me as a person, but it was even embarrassing as a character. Hulk Hogan was embarrassed,” Hogan told the jury which is mostly women.

Hogan described what went down when he found out about the leak and saw the post on Gawker, saying he went numb and then his hands started to shake violently. Hogan accused his former friend, Bubba “The Love Sponge” but he denied having anything to do with the distribution even though he secretly recorded him having sex with his ex-wife.

The litigation between Hogan and Bubba “The Love Sponge” ended with an out of court settlement agreement which according to various outlets, Bubba only had to pay $5,000 to Hogan and agreed not to testify against the former wrestling champ.

When discussing the differences between Hulk Hogan and the man who portrays him, Terry Bollea, Hulk said that Terry is a regular person who can’t get over the fact that he’s bald and has to wear a bandana to hide it, can’t say no to his kids and is soft spoken while the character of Hulk Hogan is loud and talks about his sex life on radio shows. He then switched to the Hulkster character to talk to the jury to show them how he can go from Terry to Hulk in an instant.

The trial continues.

Citrus Bowl in Orlando to host WrestleMania 33 in 2017

For the second time in 9 years, the city of Orlando is getting WrestleMania as WWE officially announced that the biggest sports-entertainment event of the year will return to the state of Florida next year for WrestleMania 33.

The news was broken by the Orlando Sentinel newspaper and WWE will hold a press conference this morning at the Citrus Bowl with Orlando mayor Buddy Dyer, Florida Governor Rick Scott, Orange County mayor Teresa Jacobs and WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon all present.

“It’s huge,” the Orlando mayor said. “We’re a place that handles big, special events, and I think a lot of people don’t really realize the enormity of having WrestleMania.”

The Citrus Bowl recently underwent a multi-million dollar renovation, an important factor in what swayed WWE to select Orlando again over other cities. “All of us were very favorably impressed by all of the improvements made to the Citrus Bowl,” said John Saboor, WWE’s Executive Vice President of Special Events. WWE still holds a record at the Citrus Bowl for WrestleMania 24 with 74,635 fans attending.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and a team from Orlando traveled to WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, this past December to try and convince WWE to select their city. “They’re very familiar and comfortable with Central Florida because that [performance center] is here, and I’d say that played a pretty big role in giving us an advantage over the other cities,” Dyer said.

While the Citrus Bowl will host WrestleMania, Monday Night Raw and the Hall of Fame will be held at the Amyway Center while Axxess will take place at the Orange County Convention Center. No location was announced for NXT.

Raw from Chicago tonight with Shane McMahon appearing

Monday Night Raw tonight is live from the home of one of the hottest wrestling crowds in the United States, Chicago, and the prodigal son Shane McMahon will be on Raw for the first time since his surprise return a few weeks ago.

Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker are not advertised for tonight but Roman Reigns is scheduled to be there and so are Dean Ambrose and Triple H as they continue their storyline heading into Roadblock this weekend. Reigns did not appear last week after undergoing nose surgery.

A user on Reddit by the name Falconarrow – a verified anonymous WWE employee – wrote that “you’ll probably want to tune in” tonight and while what’s in store is not on the level of Shane’s surprise appearance, “something tells me you will still enjoy it though.”
