Hall released from hospital, invited to attend Smackdown next week

WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall checked himself into hospital earlier this week after his friends convinced him to go for some check-ups.

“Several hours later after a complete battery of blood work and cardiac exams I was given a clean bill of health,” wrote Hall on his Twitter, also posting a photo of his discharge papers. Hall also posted a photo in a hospital bed where he was being treated at the Emory-Adventist Hospital.

Later in the day Hall wrote that he was invited by Triple H to attend Smackdown tapings as it is being taped in Atlanta, Georgia, on Tuesday.

WrestleMania Revenge Tour in Europe wraps up today

The WrestleMania Revenge Tour of Europe wraps up today with the final two shows in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and Berlin, Germany.

The successful tour took WWE Superstars, Divas, and crew to 20 different shows across 11 different countries over just 11 days. While it was a hectic two weeks, most shows were sold out or close to being sold out with RAW at the London O2 Arena getting over a million dollars in gate money.

The next overseas tour starts on July 10 for three days in Japan.

Full unedited version of this week’s Smackdown put online

An unedited version of this week’s Smackdown taped from London, England, made its way online after someone in production either leaked it or else it was grabbed over the air while it was being beamed back to the United States via satellite.

This version shows everything from the entrances of Cole and JBL, to what an audience of Smackdown really sounds like (since everything is dubbed), to both announcers talking back with production, and Vince McMahon apparently correcting Michael Cole at the end of the broadcast to which Cole replies with a couple of “Yes sir.”

While scripts from RAW and Smackdown have leaked online before, this was probably the first time that the full unedited broadcast has been put on the Internet. You can read a script from the April 14 RAW which leaked online below and the unedited version of Smackdown at http://watchwrestling.ch/home/watch-wwe-smackdown-52314/

Today marks the 15 year anniversary of the death of Owen Hart

Today, May 23, marks the 15th anniversary of the death of Owen Hart, who tragically passed away during the Over The Edge pay-per-view after a stunt gone wrong.

The youngest of the Hart family, Owen was participating in the show as the Blue Blazer, and was supposed to make a grand entrance being lowered from the rafters of the Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri.

After he was lowered a few feet from the top in the darkness as a video package was airing, something went wrong and Owen fell down 70 feet, hitting the turnbuckle and bouncing back inside the ring. Medical personnel attended to Hart immediately but it was too late. Hart didn’t die on impact believe it or not, but passed away a few minutes later inside the ring. He was transported to the Truman Medical Center in Kansas City where he was then pronounced dead on arrival.

The memory of that night still haunts a lot of people who worked that pay-per-view 15 years later and they will probably never vanish.

We compiled a timeline of events from that unforgettable night which you can read here.

George Barrios talks WWE Network at J.P. Morgan conference

When delivering a presentation at the 42nd Annual J.P. Morgan Global Technology, Media and Telecom Conference in Boston, Massachusetts on Wednesday, WWE Chief Strategy and Financial Officer George Barrios revealed that by the end of March, the company only had around half a million subscribers to the WWE Network.

The first day of WWE Network saw a big demand which even crashed MLBAM’s user and credit card processing servers however the demand slowed down after the initial spike and WWE struggled to get additional subscribers.

With the free trial week ending just before WrestleMania, the company went into attack and by the end of the following week they managed to get an additional 167,000 subscribers in time to watch WrestleMania XXX.

Barrios acknowledged that the company is aware that there are International subscribers who find a way around to bypass the geoblocking which means that the current subscribers they have aren’t all really in the United States and will effect their numbers when the International roll-out begins later this year.

Friends worried as Scott Hall “slips up” again

Close friends of WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall are worried that Hall will once again fall off the bandwagon after he missed an appearance for Big Time Wrestling in California.

On his Twitter, Hall said that “medical problems” prevented him from appearing at the show last week but according to the promoter, Hall sent him a message telling him he won’t show up as he is “in a dark place.”

Hall’s son Cody, his agent, and Diamond Dallas Page all tried to get Hall out of his place to show up at the event however all three were unsuccessful.

Jake “The Snake” Roberts, who lived with Hall at DDP’s house and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on the same night with Hall, told Rowdy Roddy Piper during his podcast that Hall “slipped up.”

A lot of time, money, and energy was spent on Hall to clean up his act so hopefully the former nWo member will not waste all the efforts. He looked great at the Hall of Fame and WrestleMania and it would be a shame if he did indeed resort to his old bad habits.

WWE Studios and Lionsgate extend partnership for six more movies

WWE Studios and Lionsgate today announced an extension to their partnership which will include six new action films involving WWE Superstars.

The first movie announced is titled Vendetta, starring The Big Show in a movie directed by Jen and Sylvia Soska, the twins behind See No Evil 2. It will start production in the Summer.

Written by Justin Shady, Vendetta centers on a hard-nosed detective who deliberately commits a crime to get thrown in prison, allowing him the chance to seek vengeance upon the criminal serving a life sentence for having brutally murdered the detective’s wife.

“This collection of six high octane films will not only excite our fans, but provide a stage for emerging and talented filmmakers like the Soska Sisters,” said Michael Luisi, WWE Studios President. “We couldn’t have a better partner in this enterprise than Steve Beeks and the team at Lionsgate, who have been great teammates and are proven distributors of this genre.”

Lionsgate Co-Chief Operating Officer and Motion Picture Group President Steve Beeks said that the movie studio is thrilled to join forces with WWE again on these “modestly-budgeted” action films.

“We have a strong track record in this genre, and we’re delighted to team with the WWE juggernaut to deliver action-packed event films that will resonate with their global fan base and beyond.”

Goldberg ready to go to WWE if money is right

Show Goldberg the money, and he’ll show up in a WWE ring.

That’s basically what the former World Heavyweight champion told Jim Ross during his appearance on The Ross Report when asked if he would wrestle one more match for the company he spoke against so much over the past several years.

Goldberg said that it’s been a while since he talked to WWE and he said that he has a seven year old buy who would love to see his dad wrestle one day and is ready to put to differences he and WWE had aside.

“If you guys wanna make some money and do this again, then I’d then be willing to talk about it,” Goldberg said.

Goldberg added that three of the people he wouldn’t mind wrestling are Brock Lesnar, Triple H, and Roman Reigns.

Lesnar was Goldberg’s last opponent at WrestleMania XX in Madison Square Garden, a match which Goldberg won. Stone Cold Steve Austin got the last laugh however as the special guest referee ended up delivering the Stunner to Goldberg after the match.

Addition and changes to Payback 2014 PPV card

A new match was announced for Payback last night during Monday Night RAW and another match had two stipulations added to it.

Rob Van Dam won a ‘Beat The Clock’ challenge which also included Big E, Ryback, Alberto Del Rio, Dolph Ziggler, and Mark Henry in other matches. Van Dam defeated Del Rio in 4 minutes 15 seconds to become the number one contender for the Intercontinental title and will now be facing Bad News Barrett on the pay-per-view.

The other match featuring The Shield and Evolution is now a no holds barred six-man elimination tag team match rather than your normal six-man tag match.

These two matches join Cena vs Wyatt in a last man standing match as the only ones announced so far with 12 days to go for the show.
