Adam “Edge” Copeland gets leading role in WWE Studios movie ‘Interrogation’

WWE Hall of Famer Adam “Edge” Copeland will be playing the leading role in the upcoming WWE Studios and Lionsgate movie Interrogation. The news was announced by Edge himself in a video on YouTube which was posted on his Twitter account.

Edge revealed that he will be playing the role of Lucas Reed, an interrogator who has to interrogate a lead suspect in a planned Las Vegas bombing which is set to go off at one of the busiest times of the year.

“All I can say is that the movie is full of explosions, gun fights, interrogations, bar fights…it kinda got everything,” the retired Rated R Superstar said. This will be his first WWE Studios movie.

WWE Diva Lana yesterday also announced that she has a role in the film and said that she will be there to “save the day.”

Lana lands her first WWE Studios movie ‘Interrogation’ with Lionsgate

In a post on Twitter, WWE Diva Lana announced that she will be starring in a new WWE Studios movie which will be produced with Lionsgate titled Interrogation.

WWE Studios acquired the rights for this movie back in June 2012, a suspense thriller by Adam Rodin. The plot revolves around an interrogator who is called in to question a prime suspect in a planned Las Vegas bombing before time runs out.

In the short video, Lana said her role will be “to save the day” just like she does every week on WWE TV!

“Interrogation is a white-knuckle ride, filled with unexpected twists and turns,” said WWE Studios President Michael Luisi back in 2012 when the company acquired the rights. “We are excited to begin work on Adam’s engaging screenplay.”

Mainstream media covers Jon Stewart’s appearance on Raw

Jon Stewart’s appearance on WWE’s Monday Night Raw was very well received and his name was trending worldwide on Twitter well after the show was over. WWE got some free publicity as well as several media websites covered Stewart’s angle with Seth Rollins.

Entertainment Weekly, ABC, Fox Sports, Huffington Post, TMZ, Maxim, CBS, Sports Illustrated, Rolling Stone, and many other major outlets all wrote a piece about Stewart and his Raw appearance.

Stewart cut a good promo on Rollins and even gave him a low blow to escape after Randy Orton distracted Rollins. While WWE had their fair share of celebrity guest hosts over the years, Stewart is truly a big WWE and wrestling fan and it was evident while delivering his promo, showing that he knew what he was saying rather  than just delivering what he had on the script.

Randy Orton wrote on Twitter that he thought Stewart “was awesome” on the show. “I think he killed it… hope to have him back,” he wrote. Meanwhile WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley wrote that Stewart did a great job and that “the guy knows his WWE stuff.”

The show got a nice 400,000 increase in viewership over last week’s episode. (Ratings credit: Zap2It/TVbythenumbers)

WWE and USA Network issued a press release announcing that a one-hour special highlighting the 2015 WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony will air on Monday, March 30 at 11PM EST, immediately following Monday Night Raw.

Alundra Blayze joins WWE Hall of Fame class of 2015

WWE announced that 51 year old Debrah Miceli, the artist formerly known as Madusa and Alundra Blayze, will be the fifth inductee in the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2015.

Miceli’s wrestling career started in 1984 and in 1986 she made her debut in the AWA – American Wrestling Association – feuding with another WWE Hall of Famer, Sherri Martel. After a few years at the AWA, she moved to All Japan Women’s Pro Wrestling and then in 1991 she made her WCW debut aligning with Paul Heyman and his Dangerous Alliance under the name of Madusa.

In 1993 she moved to WWE and the company revived the Women’s title which had been vacant for a couple of years. She won the title under the name of Alundra Blayze in December of that year and went on to feud with Bull Nakano and Bertha Faye before she was released from her contract in 1995.

That same month she was released, Madusa returned to WCW on Nitro and caused one of the biggest controversies of the Monday Night War. On the December 18, 1995, edition of Nitro, Madusa showed up on Nitro with the WWE title and threw the belt in a trash can. The whole deal was orchestrated by Eric Bischoff, who had to push Madusa to dump the title on live television, an act which she later said she regretted.

After spending two years away from the company, Madusa returned to the ring in 1999 as part of Macho Man’s Team Madness and a year later took on another job as an instructor at WCW’s Power Plant training up and coming women wrestlers.

When she retired from professional wrestling in the beginning of 2001, Miceli concentrated on her monster truck career, driving her own truck which is named Madusa. She is now an Executive Vice President of the Major League of Monster Trucks and still drives the trucks.

During her wrestling career, Miceli won the WWE Women’s title three times, and the WCW Cruiserweight title as well as well as the AWA Women’s title once and the IWA Women’s title at All Japan twice.

Miceli inducted the Fabulous Moolah in the WWE Hall of Fame back in 1995 and now she becomes the eighth female wrestler in the Hall of Fame joining Moolah, Sensational Sherri, Mae Young, Wendi Richter, Sunny, Trish Stratus, and Lita.

She will be going in under the name of Alundra Blayze as WWE does not hold the rights of the Madusa name.

Come out, come out, wherever you are! WrestleMania approaches, and Undertaker, I think I’ve got something you’re going to like. (Pointing to the coffin.) I did this, I built this just for you, Undertaker. I hope you like it. But where are you? Instead of being out here in appreciation, you torture me, you mock me, with all this silence. And I understand your apprehension, but you must understand everything comes at a price. Oh, my, my, my. I’ve always had this fascination with the natural distinct of fire. Fire has no prejudices, it has no feelings. Fires just has this urge to destroy anything and everything that is in it’s path. Just me, just like me.”

Wyatt turns around and pours the gasoline onto the coffin. “:I would walk through the fires of hell just to see your face Undertaker. I don’t think you really know who it is you’re really dealing with, man. you can’t hid from me, no one can hid from me. Commercials.

Segment #6: Arena Promo

John Cena is out, talking about the fans that are on his side and those who are not. He gives his usual passionate “never give up” speech, and warns Rusev that he will get his hands on him one day. In the meantime, Cena announces that he will be a part of the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

Stephanie McMahon interjects, refusing to let Cena compete and instead wants to see a Cena-less WrestleMania. She thinks he is disrespecting the late-great Andre, but Cena disputes her claims. She finally decides that he can have Rusev at WrestleMania, only if Rusev lets him. It is entirely up to the United States Champion.

Curtis Axel now comes out and declares that he is technically still in the Royal Rumble at over 35 days; he also sucks up to McMahon, which is going over quite well with the fans. She then sees the light in Axel’s eyes, and books him to take on Cena next.

Cena warns Curtis that this is not the time or place to face him, but Axel persists. They will square off next!

Up next, Triple H will also talk about it live!

Commercials.

Segment #8: Arena Promo

“In 1995, I looked Vince McMahon in the eye and said ‘all I want is an opportunity.’ 20 years later, 13 World Titles, and the COO of the WWE; I think I made the most of that opportunity.” HHH says he then gave Sting that same opportunity, to turn him into a bigger icon than he already was, through merchandise and DVDs. However, instead, “The Game” says that Sting turned down that offer so he could compete at WrestleMania. Triple H does understand Sting’s desire, but unfortunately, Sting didn’t pick the right person to wrestle against.

He insinuates that everyone has a “theory” on why Sting didn’t join WWE, then invites Hall Of Famer and former World Champion Booker T. “The Game” wants to know from Booker, who knew Sting through WCW, why “The Icon” had not became a part of WWE. Booker speculates it was because Triple H used his influence to “block” Sting from joining. Booker says that no one, including Triple H, could or can “control” Sting, but he will have to “deal” with him at WrestleMania.

After expressing his opinions, Booker T. is matter-of-fact fired. He collects his things from the commentator’s table, but HHH stops him and says he was just “messing with ya.” He does appreciate what Booker does at ringside, saying that was an example of “control.” “I have been handed an opportunity on a silver platter. I have been handed an opportunity to end a legacy, to end an icon, to end the last vestige that is and was WCW And I will do what I do better than anyone on the face of God’s green Earth; I will take advantage of that opportunity and I will put an end to Sting.”

Paige kicks her off and locks Nikki in the PTO, but Brie interferes causing the DQ.

Winner via Disqualification: Paige (No new champion)

Post-match, The Bellas beat up on Paige until the returning hometown-hero A.J. runs down the ramp to make the save! She and Paige clean house on Nikki and Brie, then look awkwardly at each other.

Ads.

Segment #9: Backstage Promo

Rene Young asks A.J. about her return. She doesn’t get a first word in when Paige interrupts and wonders why she helped. Lee says she wants to “help give Divas a chance,” after seeing The Bellas run roughshod over the Divas. Both conclude they are friends for the benefit of the Divas Division and the Divas Championship.

Segment #10: Arena Promo

Seth Rollins, Joey Mercury, and Jamie Noble are in the ring, which is decorated in The Daily Show set. He mocks hosting the late-night comedy hour, until the real Jon Stewart walks out. He sits down with Rollins and makes fun of him, also insinuating that Rollins didn’t earn the Money In The Bank briefcase. Seth grabs Stewart, but Randy Orton’s music plays which diverts Rollins’ attention. Jon kicks Rollins below the belt and escapes while “The Viper” looks on.

Post-match, Reigns is furious and totally destroys The Authority with Superman Punches and Spears, then squats over and stares them down to close the show.

End Of Raw.

Reporter’s Rumblings – By Moe Tapp

This was an okay Raw – it started out strong, was kind of “blah” in the middle, and finished decent. Onto the particulars:

Excellence: Loving the Intercontinental Championship situation; it creates high-interest on who will be the champion after WrestleMania, as I can easily see any of these guys having the belt.

Promos by Stephanie/Cena/Rusev, Bray Wyatt, Triple H, Curtis Axel, and of course, Paul Heyman. All were extremely well-spoken and with fervor. I was quite surprised by Axel’s and even though I know he’s not going anywhere after ‘Mania, I was pleased to hear some “umph” in his voice tonight and get the fans behind him.

Return of A.J. I predicted this a bit ago, saying Paige needed to win the Divas Champion and her and A.J. could have a great WrestleMania final match for their rivalry. Paige winning didn’t happened, but tonight has planted the seeds for the two to be involved in the Divas Championship bout at “The Granddaddy of them All.” Also, since Raw was Lee’s hometown, I was genuinely surprised to see her, as they usually wait and not have a person who is from that town make a comeback.

Also liking the Miz/Mizdow storyline, and the eventual (probable) ‘Mania match. This has been a great build, keeping me suspenseful as to when Damien will do the full-on turn and break away.

Wrestling-wise – Ambrose/Barrett, Nikki/Paige, and Rollins/Reigns.

I think the Stewart/Rollins angle has played off well, not only for publicity for ‘Mania, but Jon himself really held his own both on the mike and in the ring with Seth.

Bogus: Last week, it looked like that Natalya and Tyson were on the same page and Natalya would be a heel, which I would love. However, tonight it appears they are at odds again, which doesn’t make much sense, and I was looking forward to seeing a bad-girl Natalya again.

There were too many Authority segments with Rollins and company. They need to scale back, as less is more. As well, there were too many promos in general (even though most were good), the wrestling itself was cut short for more talking tonight.

Where were Goldust and Stardust, and the continuation of their feud? Also, after the Primetime Players reunion and win last week, why were they not featured in a match? I thought they’d be gunning for the tag-titles soon since they can get greatly over with the crowd.

All-in-all, the path towards ‘Mania is shaping pretty nicely, and most of the card is looking pretty good. Here’s hoping it continues this way for the next few weeks! Until next week, Be Excellent Wrestling-Online Readers and Wrestling Fans!

AJ Lee backstage at Raw today, scheduled to appear on the show

PWInsider.com is reporting that former Divas champion AJ Lee is backstage at Monday Night Raw today, one week after calling out Stephanie McMahon on Twitter.

Tonight’s Raw is live from New Jersey, which is AJ’s home state, so it sort of makes sense to have her there although the timing seems interesting considering the events that happened on Twitter last week. After McMahon congratulated Patricia Arquette for her women equality speech at the Oscars, AJ Lee fired back in a tweet to McMahon pointing out that WWE Divas get paid much less than their male counterparts.

AJ has been sidelined since December with her match against Nikki Bella at the TLC pay-per-view being her last one. She was given time off to heal a few injuries she was suffering from.

WWE champion Brock Lesnar attends the UFC 184 pay-per-view

WWE World Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar was cage side at the UFC 184 pay-per-view yesterday in Los Angeles, California, putting more fuel to the fire that he is going to the UFC following WrestleMania.

“Brock was in town, he was here to talking to some people and apparently he’s a fan of the UFC and he wanted to come watch some fights,” White told Ariel Helwani in an interview on Fox Sports 1 following the pay-per-view.

When asked point blank if he’s coming back, White said, “I don’t know. He’s under contract with the WWE right now, when his contract runs out, I’m sure he’ll call me!”

Helwani then brought up the subject of Mir, who called Lesnar out again for their third fight. White laughed and said that Lesnar asked him, “Did Frank Mir say he wants to fight me?” Lesnar and Mir have a bad history together and their fight at UFC 100 is the highest grossing fight in UFC history. Their first fight was won by Mir but Lesnar got his revenge in his second.

UFC’s Vice President of Public Relations, Dave Sholler, tweeted a photo of Lesnar talking to White with the words “BROCK has arrived at #UFC184.”

The WWE champ walked out of Raw earlier this week.
