“Switchblade” Jay White leaving New Japan Pro-Wrestling

Sean Sapp of Fightful Wrestling is reporting through his Select service that former IWGP Heavyweight champion Jay White is on his way out of New Japan Pro-Wrestling and both WWE and AEW are vying for his services.

White’s contract with NJPW is expiring soon and he will be in a loser leaves Japan match against Hikuleo on Saturday, February 11 at the New Beginning in Osaka, Japan.

Known as “Switchblade,” the 30-year-old from New Zealand has been with NJPW since 2017 and is the current leader of the Bullet Club. Besides his stint in NJPW, White has also appeared multiple times for Impact Wrestling and also All Elite Wrestling. He defended the IWGP Heavyweight title at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view in a four-way match in June 2022.

White lost the title to Kazuchika Okada at the Wrestle Kingdom 17 pay-per-view last week after a reign of 206 days.
