Jim Cornette to do play-by-play for NWA’s 70th anniversary show

Jim Cornette will be returning to the broadcast booth as the NWA announced that the legendary manager will serve as the play-by-play man for its 70th anniversary show on October 21.

Cornette will be joined by Joe Galli, who does commentary for Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, at the booth while Tony Schiavone will make it a three-men booth for the main event.

“The return @nwa title match with @RealNickAldis vs. @CodyRhodes was what enticed me back to broadcasting–it’ll be a real stemwinder! (We’re in Nashville so I must use a Lance Russell-ism!)” Cornette wrote on Twitter after the announcement was made.

Cornette worked for Jim Crockett Promotions and the NWA for five years between 1985 and 1990 and managed the NWA Tag Team champions The Midnight Express. In 1989 he became the color commentator for the NWA television show.
