5 most thrilling WWE matches of all time

Nobody does build-up, drama, action, or storytelling like the WWE. In fact, many film and television writers could learn a lot from wrestling booking.

The writing is so good that viewers are never able to predict what is going to happen next or who will win a fight. In many ways, it can be more unpredictable than real sports – you can find the best sports betting lines here.

The WWE has had so many incredible storylines since it was founded in 1980 that it is hard to narrow down our favorite moments. But, we are going to try to do that today.

Many of our favorite moments have come from recent years, however, there are so many matches that we will never forget. They have stood the test of time. Some of these newer matches have become instant classics.

#5 – John Cena VS Bray Wyatt (Wrestlemania 36)

The WWE has never been one to let the world get in the way of the stories it wants to tell and their Cena vs The Fiend storyline was no different.

Many were wondering if Wrestlemania 36 was even going to be able to take place. But, the WWE took the opportunity to take their storytelling into a whole different dimension. And John Cena’s journey through the fun house will be talked about for decades to come.

The majority of this match was shown through pre-recorded video and at points was honestly terrifying.

In this match, the WWE actually admitted to some of the mistakes they had made along the way, particularly with Cena’s character and how that had impacted the wrestling scene as a whole.

#4 – Sasha Banks vs. Bianca Belair (Wrestlemania 37)

This was undoubtedly the best match we have ever seen in women’s wrestling and one of the best matches in the history of the WWE.

Banks and Belair made history by fighting in the first all-African-American headline act for women. You couldn’t take your eyes off them.

These two didn’t have the same kind of reputation as Charlotte Flair or Becky Lynch going into this match. But they sure did by the time it was over.

After a year of having no audiences at WWE matches, the crowd could not get enough of this might battle.

#3 – The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels (Wrestlemania 25)

The WWE has used the Undertaker as their company’s boogie man for over 30 years now, and he is still as good as he’s ever been.

However, this fight against Shawn Michaels might be the best match he has ever fought.

Everyone knew from the start that this was going to be something special. The two had history, they were two of the biggest wrestlers in the world at the time, and they would be fighting it out on the biggest stage – Wrestlemania.

The match was billed as heaven vs hell as the Undertaker returned to the ring to take on wrestling’s golden boy. We won’t tell you what happened, you’ll want to watch this yourself.

#2 – Hardy Boyz vs. Dudley Boyz vs. Edge & Christian (WrestleMania 17)

Watching this match back, you might be wondering how it earned its place on this list. You might need a little context if you’re a younger fan.

This is a match that took place while the WWE was ramping up its domination over the world of wrestling and its production value.

This tables, ladders, and chairs match was one of the first elaborate routines that the company put on and it sent people wild. It was helped by amazing performances from all the men involved.

This was a match that sent all of their careers into the stratosphere.

#1 – Bret Hart vs. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin (Wrestlemania 13)

Finally, we have reached the most thrilling WWE match of all time.

This match started one of the most iconic grudges in the history of the WWE. It set Austin up as the heel who would do everything they could to stop people from naming Hart “The Best There Is, The Best There Was, and The Best There Ever Will Be.”

Both men put in the best performances of their careers up to that point. But that isn’t why we all remember this match. It’s that perfectly executed double turn that makes this the most dramatic and thrilling match in the history of the WWE.

We will never get bored of watching it.
