U.S. Department of Justice approves Paramount/WBD merger

The U.S. Department of Justice approved the big merger between Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery, clearing another hurdle in the Paramount $111 billion takeover of WBD.

The result was largely expected to encounter no pushbacks from the DOJ, with President Donald Trump even pushing for the merger to happen considering his close ties to the Ellison Family, which owns Paramount.

The merger will have some implications in the wrestling world as AEW currently has a media rights contract with WBD and they will now have to work with the new company for a renewal of their existing broadcast deal.

The merger still has to clear some other regulatory hurdles, including one from the European Union.
