During an hour-long interview with Ariel Helwani, AEW President Tony Khan said that WWE never reached out to AEW to have Adam “Edge” Copeland be part of John Cena’s farewell tour.
Edge was one of Cena’s most fierce rivals throughout the years, with the two wrestling countless times against each other.
Asked point blank if WWE did reach out to him to maybe work out a deal, Khan replied in the negative, but said never say never in the wrestling business.
“Never say never in wrestling, because I would imagine they could always extend the date past the end of the year,” Khan said referring to Cena’s final match with WWE.
“But no, Adam’s going to be here with us through the year,” he continued, confirming that Copeland’s deal only runs till the end of 2025.
“Adam Copeland is a huge part of AEW, and I have so much respect for him. I really, really like Adam a lot, and I’m glad to have him here. Even though he’s away filming, he’s still with us and will continue to be,” Khan said.
