Kota Ibushi, who remains under AEW contract, has revealed that he underwent a second surgery to place another bolt in his femur which he broke in October of last year.

Ibushi last wrestled for AEW in October 2025, losing to Josh Alexander on an episode of Collision. The match was cut short after Ibushi’s serious injury and the Japanese star underwent surgery a few days later.

At the time, Ibushi said that a successful return to the ring would be two years away but in a post on Instagram, Ibushi said that doctors told him that a return to wrestling is nearly impossible now.

The 44-year-old added that he will still try to resume his wrestling career but admitted he might not be able to perform at the same level as before.

After almost two years away from TV, Ibushi returned to AEW in June 2025, teaming up again with Kenny Omega to revive The Golden Lovers tag team.
