Kenny Omega undergoes diverticulitis surgery

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful is reporting that former AEW champion Kenny Omega underwent diverticulitis surgery on Thursday in New York.

Apart from appearing once in person on Dynamite from his hometown in Winnipeg and then the following week via video, he’s been absent from AEW television since the Worlds End pay-per-view back in December.

Omega had been suffering from diverticulitis for months and was told he was lucky that it wasn’t fatal. He previously stated that he found a top doctor in this field and managed to get an appointment for surgery.

It will still be months before Omega returns full time to his AEW duties. On the Winnipeg Dynamite, he was taken out by The Elite after he proclaimed that he will return even if he had a 5% chance and “with a bag.”
