WWE title vacated after Seth Rollins injury, new champ at Survivor Series

WWE World Heavyweight champion Seth Rollins tore his right ACL, MCL, and medial meniscus and will be out for a long period of time, meaning he is unable to defend the WWE title at the Survivor Series.

A tournament will be held at the Survivor Series to determine the new WWE champion but no other information has been released.

This is the second time in Survivor Series history that a tournament will be held to crown a new WWE champion. In 1998 at Survivor Series: Deadly Game, The Rock defeated Mankind to win the title in a 16-man tournament.

Rollins won the title at WrestleMania earlier this year, cashing in his Money In The Bank briefcase and pinning Roman Reigns for the win.
