WWE reintroduces the World Heavyweight Championship

WWE has resurrected the World Heavyweight Championship with a new winner to be crowned at the Night of Champions premium live event live from Saudi Arabia next month.

Triple H made the bombshell announcement on Monday Night Raw last night at a sold out Allstate Arena. The WWE Chief Content Officer said that while Roman Reigns is nearing his 1,000 days as champion, his contract only calls for limited appearances and it’s time to bring in another heavyweight title to the mix.

At the WWE Draft, Roman Reigns will take his Undisputed WWE Universal title with him to the brand he is drafted to and will remain there while the other brand will get the World Heavyweight title.

Triple H also unveiled the new design, a variation of the Big Gold belt which was used as the World Heavyweight title up until 2013 but now has a big WWE logo in front.
