WWE referee Jessika Carr makes history at Backlash

WWE referee Jessika Carr made history last night at Backlash by becoming the first female WWE referee to officiate a WWE championship match in the main event of a premium live event.

The 32-year-old took control of the Cody Rhodes vs AJ Styles match in Lyon.

Carr has been signed to WWE since 2017 and was the first female referee since Rita Chatterton in the 1980s. Her contributions also include being the first female referee at a WWE show in Saudi Arabia and the first female to referee a Hell In A Cell match.

WWE has a second female referee on the main roster, Daphne Lashaunn.
