WWE Elimination Chamber 2018 PPV Pick’em report

Hello everybody! It’s @TheMagnumDA here with you with the Pick’em Contest for tonight’s Elimination Chamber PPV (this year with the Raw brand). Special shoutout to Raw GM Kurt Angle, who retweeted a SWEET photo I found of him vs. Owen Hart from May 1999. I can’t believe that match even took place!

So a quick recap on the Pick’em…Throughout 2018, we’ve tallied the scores of our Pick’em staff, and so far they look like this:

MagnumDA: 4 Picks out of 6 (Missed Smackdown Tag Titles & Women’s Rumble)
Heel Turn Tom: 4 Picks out of 6 (Missed Smackdown Tag Titles & Men’s Rumble)
Tricky Don: 4 Picks out of 6 (Missed Smackdown Tag Titles & Men’s Rumble)
Colin: 4 Picks out of 6 (Missed Smackdown Tag Titles & Men’s Rumble)

Oh, for the record…it looks like “Tricky Tom” was actually Tricky Don and his brother working together! They’ll get equal scores for Tom’s Rumble performance. COLLUSION!

So here we go with tonight’s card:

WWE Raw Tag Team Championship Match: WWE Raw Tag Champions The Bar vs. Titus Worldwide

MagnumDA: I do think that The Bar will be defending the titles at WrestleMania, so I can’t give Titus Worldwide much of a shot. The Bar retains.

Heel Turn Tom: I like how it took a few years, but Vince has a new T and A team. I could see WWE putting the belts on T&A, but not before WrestleMania and not without Trish Stratus.
Winner: Cesaro and Sheamus

Tricky Don: Titus and Apollo are a great team and I like their act. I do not see them going into WrestleMania to defend the tiles. I pick Cesaro and Sheamus.

Colin: The Raw Tag champs (The Bar) will walk out of the pay-per-view still the champions.

Elimination Chamber to Crown a New WWE Universal Title #1 Contender: John Cena vs. Elias vs. Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns vs. WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz vs. Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor

The Miz enters at #1, Elias enters last. Winner faces WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 34.

**Bonus Point: Who is the runner-up?**

MagnumDA: I do believe that there will be a few surprises along the way. I could see Miz pinning Strowman after a team effort. I could see Elias pinning John Cena. I could see this going in a million directions, but ultimately I think that it will come down to Roman Reigns and Elias, with Roman getting one last shot at Brock Lesnar on the big stage at WrestleMania XXXIV.

Heel Turn Tom: We will be left with Vince’s favorite two (Roman Reigns and John Cena). As much as we boo and chant both of these guys suck, they will outperform all on the show. This will end with as Roman will go for a Superman punch, miss and catch by Cena into an AA. One, two, three and Cena heads to WrestleMania to take on Brock for the Universal Championship and Ric Flair’s world title record.

Tricky Don: Although all the betting odds are with Reigns, I have to go with Rollins. Rollins will pin Reigns for the win, which means he pinned him two times in one week. Rollins first feud after he defeats Lesnar at Mania will be against a heel Reigns. After all, we are due for at least one surprise going into WrestleMania, right? Winner is Seth Freakin’ Rollins. Runner up is Roman Reigns.

Colin: I’m going with Roman Reigns. I think with the rumors of Brock leaving (again!), they would like nothing more than the new WWE poster boy to finally defeat the beast. Reigns has never pinned Lesnar if I am not mistaken. As for who will finish the runner up, I’m picking Seth Rollins.

First-Ever Women’s Elimination Chamber for the RAW Women’s Title: Bayley vs. Mandy Rose vs. Mickie James vs. Sonya Deville vs. Sasha Banks vs. Champion Alexa Bliss

Winner defends against Asuka or Asuka & Nia Jax at WrestleMania XXXIV.

**Bonus Point: Who is the runner-up?**

MagnumDA: I’m a firm believer in the Champion having one last great victory before doing the honors and losing at WrestleMania. In this case, I’m going to take Alexa Bliss going down in a blaze of glory by winning this match (last eliminating Bayley) before losing to Asuka at WrestleMania.

Heel Turn Tom: The women’s revolution continues with the Elimination Chamber. The first three eliminated will be Sonya Deville, Mickie James, and Mandy Rose. It’s nice that they are in the match, but they are not ready to defend the title at WrestleMania. Bayley, Sasha, and Alexa will be stealing the show with their work. Alexa will try to hold onto her title but the Boss will go beast mode and make Bliss tap out to the Bank Statement. Sasha goes onto WrestleMania to defend against Asuka.

Tricky Don: This is a tough one to call. I think you have to stay the course and have Alexa retain the title. I was originally going to pick Sasha, but I think she will eventually turn heel and set up a SummerSlam match with Asuka. I will go with Alexa Bliss. Runner up is Sasha Banks.

Colin: I think Bliss will retain the title here. It doesn’t mean that Bliss will take on Asuka or Asuka/Jax as Asuka has not announced who will she take on at WrestleMania. We could still have Asuka/Charlotte. Sasha gets runner-up.

Asuka vs. Nia Jax
If Jax wins, she’s added to the title match at WrestleMania XXXIV to make it a Triple Threat with Asuka and the champion.

MagnumDA: In a perfect situation, Asuka would go into WrestleMania undefeated and walk out as champion. From there, she could have an entire year where she never loses. Eventually, Ronda Rousey and Asuka have a showdown and the streak ends, possibly at WrestleMania XXXV. However, I have this weird feeling in the back of my mind…before Asuka even wins the title at XXXIV, the streak is going to come to an abrupt and shocking end. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but give me Nia Jax.

Heel Turn Tom: I like Nia and thought she did great work from her time in NXT to now. But WWE is not sure if they want to book her as a monster or ‘jobber to the stars’. Today, she is the jobber and Asuka stays undefeated into WrestleMania. Come on, WWE is not dumb enough to break Asuka’s streak yet. Asuka wins.

Tricky Don: Asuka hasn’t been undefeated for all this time (and also won the first ever women’s Royal Rumble) to end her streak at the Elimination Chamber. Asuka goes over all the way.

Colin: I do not see Asuka losing going into WrestleMania and messing up her streak. The fact that Jax destroyed her on Raw is a kinda giveaway that she won’t be winning. It will be interesting to see how they finish this one as Jax has to come out looking strong. So Asuka for the win.

Matt Hardy vs. Bray Wyatt

MagnumDA: God, this has gotten weird. Give me Matt Hardy so we can have the FINAL CHAPTER in Matt Hardy’s compound. Or Sister Abigail’s house. Wherever. I don’t care.

Heel Turn Tom: The Woken experience is getting the crowd going. There will be some great promos leading into the match. This will be a solid match. Since Bray won on the 25th Anniversary of Raw, it will be Matt Hardy winning leading to a rubber match at WrestleMania. Winner: Bray Wyatt DELETE! DELETE! DELETE! Winner: Matt Hardy

Tricky Don: It was such a huge surprise that the Hardy’s returned at WrestleMania 33, and they received a huge pop. Since then, the WWE have not fully utilized Matt Hardy. Not to mention, Wyatt defeated Hardy at the Raw 25th Anniversary show. 50/50 booking, I have no other choice to pick Matt Hardy.

Colin: Bray Wyatt wins and this sets up a final match, hopefully one of those crazy Matt matches in his backyard.

Alright everybody, that’s a wrap. Enjoy the Chamber and we will see you for WRESTLEMANIA XXXIV!!
