William Regal returned to NXT last night, his first appearance since he returned to the company a year ago after getting his release from AEW.

Regal was in a backstage segment with Ava, congratulating her on becoming the new NXT General Manager and the youngest in WWE history. Regal said that NXT means a lot to him and he has been there since day one so Ava needs to look out for the brand. Ava told Regal that she knows she has big shoes to fill but is ready to do the job.

Regal, who now occupies the role of Vice President of Global Talent Development, had a one year clause in his AEW release where he could not appear on WWE television. He requested and got the release from AEW in December 2022.
