Trish Stratus calling it a day once and for all after tonight’s match at SummerSlam

In an interview with Inside the Ropes on YouTube, former WWE Women’s champion and Hall of Famer Trish Stratus confirmed that tonight will be her last match after stepping out of retirement a couple of times since she hung up her boots at Unforgiven in 2006.

Stratus said that “it just feels right” and with the match being against Charlotte and on the second biggest WWE pay-per-view of the year, it can’t get much better than that. Trish said that she’s getting older and it will be a special moment that she won’t be able to recreate so it’s a good time to bow out in Toronto.

When asked what made her step out of retirement again for this match, Trish said that it was an opportunity she couldn’t pass up and feels like she’s representing her era against Charlotte. “Whether I’m proving it to the fans, or proving it to my kids, but really I’m proving it to myself,” Trish responded.

The Hall of Famer called her opponent “an amazing athlete” and “an incredible performer” and said that for this match, she has to dig deep and “tap into whatever I need to tap into to make this a memorable match.”

While Trish has wrestled a couple of times over the past several years, this will be her first one-on-one match ever since that match against Lita at Unforgiven.
