Triple H to miss his second WrestleMania in 25 years, first one since 2007

This weekend’s WrestleMania will have no fans, most likely few to no pyro either due to the location, and something else will be missing from the card: Triple H.

Since his first WrestleMania in 1996 against the Ultimate Warrior, Triple H only missed one – in 2007 when he was injured – and competed in 23 of them in total. This year, the man who usually has an elaborate entrance at every Mania held in a stadium, will be sitting backstage helping directing traffic and producing the show along with his father-in-law Vince McMahon.

“Last year, it was questionable whether I was going to do anything at WrestleMania, and the Batista match came up,” Triple H told Sports Illustrated in an interview. “This year, it was never really discussed, and I never brought it up.”

The former champ and WWE Hall of Famer admitted that as every year has passed, he’s been busier and busier with added responsibilities so it’s not always that he can lace up his boots and step inside the squared circle.

Triple H has a horrible record at WrestleMania, losing 13 out of the 23 matches he has competed in. His last win came last year against Batista.
