Total Divas S8 E2 episode recap: This Is My House

In this episode, we follow the Divas on their journey during the biggest party of the WWE year, WrestleMania.

This WrestleMania was especially important for the Divas, because there were three women’s matches on the card. There was also the first-ever all-women’s battle royal. The WrestleMania experience was particularly nerve-wrecking for one Superstar, Nia Jax. Nia’s first-ever WrestleMania match is against her former best friend, Alexa Bliss. Nia said that she once would have been thrilled to be in a WrestleMania match with Alexa, but since the two have had a major falling out, and barely speak she was a lot more nervous. She also felt tremendous pressure because of the fact that she is the largest female wrestler in the company, and a role model for women and girls with different body types. However, her nerves were needless since she ended up winning the women’s championship. Meanwhile, Natalya was having troubles of her own.

Natalya’s husband, former WWE Superstar,Tyson Kidd, has now become a producer for WWE’s flagship show, Monday Night Raw. Apparently, the new producer is as thrilled as the rest of us with the amazing work of the current women’s division. There is only one slight problem. He has complements for everyone except his wife. Understandably, this has aggravated Natalya a bunch especially since Tyson failed to take her WrestleMania nerves into consideration. When she confronted Tyson about his oversight he responded with a sarcastic, “you don’t always get compliments around here.” In true diva fashion, Natalya couldn’t help but complain to her friends and fellow Divas, Paige, Nikki Bella, and Brie Bella. To add even more drama to the situation, all three women confronted Tyson about his lack of spousal sympathy. Honestly, these women should mind their own business, but then if they did the show wouldn’t be nearly as dramatic. Finally, Tyson took the women’s advice and presented Natalya with flowers and a card after her big match. I guess it takes a village to train a husband!

Meanwhile, the fallout from last week’s episode continued. For those of you who missed it I’ll give a brief recap. Brie and Nikki Bella decided to sell clothing from their lingerie line, Birdiebee, at the WWE Shop during WrestleMania. In order to help in their efforts, Natalya, passed out flyers on New Orleans legendary Bourbon Street. This wouldn’t have been a problem if Natalya hadn’t also promised fans that if they purchased a clothing item, they would get to meet the twins in person without consulting Brie and Nikki as to whether or not they can attend the meet and greet. Therefore, lots of Bella fans were promised something that the twins didn’t deliver. Therefore, as acting president of the company, Brie decided to make it up to fans by offering them the option to have an intimate breakfast with the twins, and ask them questions, and even snap a few photos. I feel as though, this was a brilliant decision on Brie’s part the decision which followed was great as well though. Brie decided that both she and Nikki should be co-presidents of the company instead of her shouldering the burden alone. After all, the teamwork thing is worked well for them so far why change it now?

Another Diva was undergoing some pretty significant changes of her own. After four years of in ring competition, WWE Superstar Paige, was forced to retire due to neck injury. She decided to announce her retirement in the same place where she made her Raw debut four years ago, New Orleans. While this was clearly an emotional time for both Paige and her fans we all know that a new chapter has opened up for Paige as she is now General Manager of Smackdown Live. It will be nice to see how her new career unfolds as we continue this season of Total Divas.
