Tony D’Angelo returns to NXT after nearly five months out

Tony D’Angelo has returned to NXT following an absence of around five months.

After the main event finished and Je’Von Evans and new NXT champion Oba Femi had a stare down, the lights went off and a video played of a person walking on a bridge. When the video finished, a spotlight came on in the middle of the ring and D’Angelo was behind Evans.

Evans tried to shake hands with D’Angelo but the former NXT North American champion then chokeslammed Evans and dumped some black paper on him before engaging in a stare down with the champion himself.

D’Angelo last wrestled on TV on the July 15 episode of NXT defeating Stacks and Luca Crusifino in a triple threat match. His exit, in a vignette, was taken from a page out of The Sopranos when he was filmed at his restaurant and someone showed up in front of him before the screen faded to black.

His return was teased this past Tuesday on NXT.
