A new NXT UK champion was crowned at the NXT UK television tapings at BT Sport Studios in London, England last night after Ilja Dragunov vacated the title due to an injury.

The semi final and final matches were taped last night, 24 hours after the initial round of matches took place on the same night that Dragunov surrendered the belt, ending a near one-year run with the title which he won from Walter back in August of last year at NXT Takeover 36.

In the two semi finals, Trent Seven defeated Oliver Carter and Tyler Bate defeated Joe Coffey. This set up a final between Seven and Bate, two former team mates, and Bate won the final to be crowned champion.

Tyler Bate now becomes the first-ever two-time NXT UK champion. He won the inaugural tournament in January 2017, beating Pete Dunne.
