Sonya Deville tears ACL as the curse of the Women’s Tag Team titles strikes again

The curse of the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles has struck again as one half of the current champs, Sonya Deville, is out indefinitely after she tore her ACL.

In a video posted on the X social media platform, Deville said she got injured on Friday night in the tag match against Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair and will be undergoing surgery today.

She noted that this is her first injury in wrestling and comes at a time where she had been working for the last eight years to win a title.

“Obviously, it’s super disappointing and it couldn’t have come at a worse time,” Deville said. “But I don’t think any injury comes at a great time. That’s just how the cookie crumbles.”

What happens to the Women’s Tag Team titles remains to be seen now but it is highly likely they will be vacated again.

Reacting to the news, her tag team partner Chelsea Green posted a broken heart emoji. This was the first title for both of them in WWE.
