Samoa Joe gets back his U.S. title after Rey Mysterio relinquishes it due to injury

Rey Mysterio is no longer the United States champion after he relinquished the title on Raw last night and gave it back to previous champion Samoa Joe.

Mysterio won the title at Money In The Bank in a controversial fashion after Joe’s shoulder was not on the mat when the referee hit the three-count. Despite that, the ref’s decision was final and Mysterio walked out of the pay-per-view the new champion…and with an injury.

Rey suffered a legit shoulder injury during the very short match and separated his AC joint. His two matches against Joe, the first one at WrestleMania, were both quick matches as even at WrestleMania, Mysterio walked in with a leg injury and Joe made quick work to retain the title.

Despite giving the title back to Samoa Joe last night, Joe was not in a good mood and placed Mysterio in the Coquina Clutch.
