Rich Swann becomes the new WWE Cruiserweight champion

There’s a new cruiserweight show in town and also a new Cruiserweight champion in town as well as last night Rich Swann defeated The Brian Kendrick on the premiere episode of 205 Live to capture the title.

The one-hour WWE Network weekly series had the title match as its main event which lasted nearly 20 minutes and ended when Swann delivered three spinning heel kicks in succession before pinning Kendrick.

After the match, Swann was interviewed in the ring. “WWE Universe, this is us right here baby,” Swann said as he held his title up. Swann thanked his mom, saying that she’s looking down on him right now and while she’s not physically there, she’s there in spirit. “This one is for you, mom.”

Joining Mauro Ranallo and Corey Graves on the commentary table was NXT’s Austin Aries, currently sidelined with an eye injury. He said he’s bringing star power to the show and eventually he would capture the WWE Cruiserweight title.
