New WWE Tag Team championships unveiled

Just like the Raw Tag Team titles, the Smackdown Tag Team titles are no longer and they have now been rebranded as the WWE Tag Team titles.

Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Smackdown GM Nick Aldis presided over the presentation of the new belts to Austin Theory and Grayson Waller last night on Smackdown after the two won them in the six-pack ladder match at WrestleMania XL.

While the World Tag Team titles carry the same design as the men’s World and women’s World titles over at Raw, the newly-released WWE Tag Team titles have a different look from the male and female versions of the titles on Smackdown, and actually resemble the old titles that were used by the likes of The Hart Foundation, Demolition, Legion of Doom, and others.

The champions also got to learn their new number one contenders after a four-way elimination tag team match between AOP, New Catch Republic, The Street Profits, and Legado del Fantasma took place on the show. The Street Profits won that match and will now face A-Town Down Under in their first title defense.
