Kushida departs WWE after contract runs out

Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful Wrestling is reporting that Kushida has left WWE after his contract ran out and was not renewed.

The Japanese star started working for the NXT brand in 2019 and is a former NXT Cruiserweight champion. Lately, Kushida was teaming with Ikemen Jiro, forming Jacket Time. He was scheduled to wrestle Von Wagner last week on NXT but in a backstage segment, Kushida was taken out and Jiro took his place.

His profile has already been moved to the Alumni section of WWE.COM.

The 38-year-old from Tokyo spent most of his time in New Japan Pro Wrestling and is a former six-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight champion, two-time former Junior Heavyweight Tag Team champion with Alex Shelley, and winner of the 2016 Super J-Cup.
