King of the Ring tournament returns on WWE TV next week

The King of the Ring tournament will be making its return on WWE television starting next week with 16 Superstars – eight from Raw and eight from Smackdown – battling it out for the crown.

The eight Superstars from Raw are Baron Corbin, Cedric Alexander, Cesaro, Drew McIntyre, Ricochet, Sami Zayn, Samoa Joe, and The Miz. The eight from Smackdown are Ali, Andrade, Apollo Crews, Buddy Murphy, Chad Gable, Elias, Kevin Owens, and Shelton Benjamin.

No details were announced as to when and where the tournament finals will be held and what the brackets look like.

The last King of the Ring was held in 2015 and between 1993 and 2002, the tournament was a yearly pay-per-view. In the years following 2002, WWE held only four KOTR tournaments in 2006, 2008, 2010, and 2015.
