John Cena talks about his dad criticizing choice of final opponent

John Cena admitted that his 80-year-old dad said some “f*cked up shit” when he went on interviews criticizing the fact that either LA Knight or Gunther were going to be his final opponent.

Cena Sr. said that Kurt Angle, Edge, or Chris Jericho would have been the more ideal candidates and wasn’t thrilled with the two choices remaining. Gunther ended up winning the tournament last night so he will get to retire Cena.

“Man, there’s some shit he’ll say that is all f*cked up,” Cena said on the Joe Rogan Experience. “He said some shit yesterday…I want to call my dad and be like, ‘What the f*ck are you doing?’”

Cena said he opted not to do that because that’s what his dad does as a wrestling fan and that’s the dad that he loves.

The former champion also revealed that he recently mended his relationship with his father.

“I just wanted him to be something else. I always wanted that motherf*cker to change. I wanted him to be something else. And finally, I got out of my own way,” Cena said.
