Inaugural NXT Women’s North American champion to be crowned at Battleground

The inaugural NXT Women’s North American champion will be crowned at the upcoming Battleground premium live event next month in a ladder match.

The announcement was made by NXT General Manager Ava, who revealed that to get to 12 participants, there will be a combine held on the May 7 episode of NXT. Once those 12 participants have been narrowed down, they will face off in six qualifiers to determine the final six entries in this ladder match.

A ladder match was also the way the men’s inaugural NXT North American champion was crowned years ago.

Michin, the star also known as Mia Yim, was the first one to put her name in for next week’s show.

Battleground will take place on June 9 at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
