Gunther describes Goldberg as one of the “most outstanding guys” in wrestling

Interviewed on The Masked Man show, WWE World Heavyweight champion Gunther described Goldberg as “one of the most outstanding guys in the history of this business.”

The two will go head-to-head for the title on the July 12 episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event which will also be Goldberg’s final match.

Gunther admitted that he would have never expected to be in this position as Goldberg’s final opponent.

“How I got up in wrestling, how I got brought up, I feel like Goldberg is the complete opposite of how I would have imagined a wrestler that I really look up to,” the Austrian said.

“That’s the thing with Goldberg is like, like I said before, you can say whatever you want about him, but he’s one of the most outstanding guys in the history of this business. And seeing a lot of the guys that he had before, it’s a great opportunity for me to step into that position to be his last opponent because with all the respect, that’s what it is,” Gunther continued.

Gunther said that he will gain from being in the ring with Goldberg because at the end of the day, when Goldberg shows up, there’s a lot of interest.

“And yeah, I’m happy about that opportunity,” he said.
