Goldberg says without Triple H, retirement match would have never happened

While Bill Goldberg has complained a lot about the way his retirement match ended up, the former champion credited Paul “Triple H” Levesque for giving him the opportunity, saying that without him, it would not have been possible.

Earlier this week, Goldberg appeared on The Ariel Helwani Show and was not in the happiest moods just a few days following his final match. He bemoaned the fact that it was not on a PLE and that they cut his speech off after 20 seconds.

But speaking to The Boston Herald, Goldberg said he was appreciative of Triple H’s work in making this happen.

“I couldn’t have done any of that on Saturday night without him,” said Goldberg. “That’s the truth, one thousand percent.”

Goldberg added that walking to the ring with his son was the highlight of the night for him and nothing was going to top it off.
