Goldberg becomes second oldest Superstar to hold major WWE title

With his WWE Universal title win last night at Fastlane, Bill Goldberg became the second oldest champion to carry a major singles title in the WWE, surpassed only by Vince McMahon.

McMahon was 53 years old on September 14, 1999 when he won the WWE title from Triple H on an episode of Smackdown from Las Vegas. Vince did another title run in 2007 at nearly 61 years of age when he won the ECW title at Backlash in April 2007, defeating Bobby Lashley.

Goldberg becomes the Universal champion at 50 years of age, and this is only his third run with a major singles world title in his wrestling career. He won the WCW title once and the World Heavyweight title once while in WWE before.
