February 14 NXT Takeover gets a name and main event

The upcoming NXT Takeover on February 14 finally got its name: Vengeance Day. Prior to last night, it was simply referred as Takeover 33 but with the show falling on Valentine’s Day, it was too good of an opportunity to pass on a name!

The main event will feature Finn Balor defending the NXT title against former NXT UK champion Pete Dunn. The NXT Women’s title will also be defended on the show as Io Shirai takes on Mercedes Martinez and Toni Storm in a triple threat match and Johnny Gargano puts up his title up for grabs against Kushida.

Balor and Dunn confronted each other last night on NXT to make the match official but were interrupted by Royal Rumble winner Edge. “This feels good,” Edge said. He mentioned that in WWE, they often concentrate on the “E” but in NXT, the second “W” takes precedence. Edge said that NXT made him find his passion to get his career back on track and warned both men that he would be watching Takeover because he never had “that”, pointing to the NXT title.
