Cody Rhodes to narrate cold open for NXT Great American Bash

This Sunday’s NXT Great American Bash will have a special cold open narrated by none other than Cody Rhodes.

The Great American Bash holds a special place in the Rhodes family as it was Dusty who created the event in 1985 for Jim Crockett Promotions and from there on, it became a yearly WCW pay-per-view. It was only in 1993 and 1994 that WCW failed to produce a Great American Bash and then it kept going until the year 2000.

NXT adopted the name in 2020 as a television special on USA Network until this year it was announced as a standalone premium live event.

Reacting to the news that NXT would be using The Great American Bash name back in mid-2020, Cody, still an AEW EVP, said that the event means a lot to him and his sister and while he does not own the intellectual property rights for the name, he wasn’t holding a grudge over it.

During AEW’s Fyter Fest in July 2020, Cody sported a shirt with an exact replica of The Great American Bash logo but instead it had The American Nightmare Cody written on it.
