Cody Rhodes was “fired” in a storyline that played during RAW last night after he lost his match against Randy Orton.

The whole storyline started when Rhodes told Orton and Triple H backstage that Orton vs Bryan is what is right for business. Triple H told him that he makes decisions and even though he wasn’t invited to the upcoming Rhodes wedding, he still got him a present – a match against Orton with the stipulation that if he loses, he won’t be employed by WWE anymore.

After several near-falls, Orton eventually pulled an RKO and pinned Rhodes. Triple H – who came out on top of the stage – informed him that he was fired.

On Twitter, Triple H wrote, “Sadly, many do not have the capacity to understand. It’s not about the individual, it’s about what’s best for everyone. #ThankYouCody”

Cody is getting time off to get married and go on his honeymoon.
