Carmelo Hayes wins the NXT North American title

Carmelo Hayes became the new NXT North American champion last night after he cashed in his title shot contract which he got after winning the NXT Breakout Tournament several weeks ago.

The North American title was on the line when Isiah “Swerve” Scott – in his first title defense – defeated Santos Escobar to retain with the help of Hayes and Trick Williams who kept the rest of Legado Del Fantasma away.

After the match, Hayes celebrated with Scott in the ring but that was short-lived after Hayes turned on Scott, leveling him with a vicious clothesline. Scott then handed over his contract to the referee and the match began immediately. Hayes won the match after delivering an axe kick from the top rope.

The NXT newcomer had a quick rise to the top after he had only made his debut just four months ago.

Earlier in the broadcast, Top Dolla and B-Fab of Hit Row were kidnapped by Legado del Fantasma and Ashante “Thee” Adonis was nowhere to be seen.

Scott, along with the rest of Hit Row, are moving on to Smackdown.
