Bron Breakker wins NXT title at New Year’s Evil

Second time was the charm for Bron Breakker as the rookie dethroned Tommaso Ciampa yesterday at New Year’s Evil to become the new NXT champion.

Headlining the show, Ciampa tapped out after Breakker first hit his father’s flying bulldog move off the second rope and then locked him in his uncle’s Steiner Recliner to finish him.

Yesterday’s match capped off a rather quick rise to the top for the 24-year-old Breakker, who only made his debut on NXT 2.0 in mid-September. His first title shot came a month later at Halloween Havoc but Ciampa managed to get that one, ending Breakker’s undefeated streak.
