Big E wins the WWE title on Raw

The Big E era has begun!

On Monday Night Raw last night, the Money In The Bank winner successfully cashed in his MITB briefcase on Bobby Lashley to win the WWE title, hours after he spilled the beans on social media saying he would be on the show to cash in and win the title.

Lashley had just defeated Randy Orton to retain the title in the main event of Raw but Big E kept his promise and came out with the briefcase as the fans in the TD Garden lost it.

The show went to commercials but after Raw came back, the match started against Lashley’s will who did not want to wrestle. A Big Ending and a three count later, a new WWE champion was crowned.

Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods joined in the celebrations in the ring as pyro went off much to the enjoyment of the lively crowd.

The 35-year-old Florida native now becomes the second member of the ever-popular New Day faction to win the WWE title following Kofi Kingston’s heroics in 2019.

Big E has been part of WWE since 2009 and ever since his main roster debut in late 2012, he never challenged for any of the major singles titles. The bulk of his career has been part of The New Day trio where with Kofi and Xavier Woods won the Raw and Smackdown Tag Team titles pm eight different occasions. He also won the Intercontinental title twice and was the NXT champion in 2012.
