AJ Styles won another shot at the United States title currently held by Kevin Owens after he won an Independence Day battle royal on Smackdown last night.

The former WWE champion pulled double duty last night after first he had to go through Chad Gable to secure his spot in the battle royal match. Styles ended up with Sami Zayn and Tye Dillinger as the final three, with Zayn eliminating Dillinger and then Styles eliminating Zayn with a Pele kick.

The feud between Owens and Styles have been going on for a few months now and this will be their second match on pay-per-view against each other following their Backlash encounter. At Backlash, Owens came out victorious, winning via count-out after Styles got his leg trapped in the announce table and failed to make it back in the ring by the count of 10.
