Impact Wrestling moving back to Thursday nights from July 21

TNA President Dixie Carter announced on Twitter that Impact Wrestling is once again moving nights, going back to Thursdays with a new time slot of 8PM EST starting July 21. The move is to avoid going head to head with Smackdown which moves to Tuesday nights starting July 19.

Impact has switched days several times ever since it started. On Spike TV it debuted on Saturday nights and then it moved to Thursdays in April 2006. In March 2010 it moved to Monday nights, head to head with Raw, a move which wasn’t a very smart one. Just a month and a half later, the show moved back to Thursday nights due to the low ratings. When the show switched to Destination America in 2015, it moved to Friday nights and then to Tuesdays when the show transitioned to POP TV.

When Smackdown moved to Thursday from Friday, Impact moved to Friday and now with Smackdown moving to Tuesday, the company is avoiding direct competition by reverting to their Thursday slot.
