Fanatics takes over WWE’s operations of global event merchandise business

WWE and Fanatics today announced an expansion of their existing comprehensive, long-term sports and entertainment partnership, which will now see Fanatics assume operations of WWE’s global event merchandise business. The deal will kick off on May 1 before WWE’s premium live event, Backlash.

Under the expanded partnership, Fanatics Commerce, the company’s e-commerce, licensed merchandise and physical retail operations division, will manage the on-site event retail experience for WWE’s annual calendar of 300-plus events, including premium live events such as WrestleMania, Royal Rumble and SummerSlam.

Fanatics will work closely and collaboratively with world-class teams at WWE who previously operated the event retail business in-house for decades to optimize the event shopping experience for its growing global fanbase. This includes curating an enhanced in-venue product offering with more localized merchandise collections, creating innovative event retail stores and experiences, as well as utilizing Fanatics-operated team stores during various live events. Fanatics holds physical retail partnerships with more than 50 professional and college teams across several sports.

The expansion follows strong commercial results for WWE across its retail channels in 2022, including record-breaking demand for WWE merchandise. Fanatics became WWE’s global e-commerce partner in 2022, and the company saw record-breaking sales at WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, Money In The Bank and SummerSlam, among others.

“Fanatics has been an amazing partner and will immediately bolster WWE’s event retail business,” said Alex Varga, WWE Senior Vice President, Head of Corporate Development. “Expanding our partnership will allow WWE to further expand our offering to fans and grow merchandise revenue in 2023 and beyond.”

In March 2022, WWE and Fanatics announced a long-term partnership that would utilize many parts of the Fanatics expanded digital sports platform to create a new, enhanced experience for WWE fans globally, including e-commerce, licensed merchandise and memorabilia, and physical and digital trading cards and collectibles.

“The WWE has built one of the most incredible global events portfolios across sports and entertainment, and we’re honored that they’ve tapped Fanatics to build on our overarching partnership together,” said Molly Adams, Fanatics Commerce Chief Strategic Retail Officer. “Through our expansive global footprint and event retail operations expertise, Fanatics is uniquely positioned to provide an unrivaled event retail experience for WWE’s passionate fans at hundreds of events worldwide.”

WWE employees start moving to new corporate headquarters in downtown Stamford

WWE’s move to its new corporate headquarters has started, with employees moving from the building known as Titan Towers to the new location two miles east in downtown Stamford.

Located on Washington Blvd, the new world headquarters for WWE covers around 400,000 square feet and is the former office of UBS. WWE will be moving all of its personnel there, combining all their departments into one building.

The massive WWE production team will also move to the adjacent pavilion, a space where according to CTInsider.com, one of the world’s largest trading floors was located when UBS was occupying the building.

WWE will receive $8.5 million in tax credit if they retain their current headcount and add 275 more jobs by July 2025 in connection with their move.

What happens to their current HQ at E. Main Street remain to be seen although WWE said in the past it could either sell it or else lease it.

WWE does not own their new HQ but are leasing it. Although there are other tenants in the same location, it’s the WWE logo which hangs on multiple sides of the building as the largest tenant in the 13-story tower.

Aldis left NWA in January of this year after falling out with Billy Corgan in a real-life feud that made its way online. Corgan suspended Aldis before the NWA pay-per-view in November and said that he would not appear again for the NWA, letting his contract run out.

The 36-year-old Brit, husband of Mickie James, had a run with Impact/TNA from late 2008 to 2015 where he won the TNA World title once and the TNA Tag Team titles twice.

Have a massive project? Break it down into smaller, manageable tasks and watch it go from horrible to manageable. You’ll feel like a superhero checking off each part.

Homesickness and loneliness? Not on our watch!

New digs and being away from home can be a bummer, but here’s how to banish those blues:

  • Dive into campus life

Join clubs, attend events, and try out sports – you might just find your new friends. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and explore new interests and passions.

It takes time to adjust, so give yourself some grace and remember that it’s all part of the adventure. You’re growing and learning, and that’s something to be proud of!

Taking care of your mind and body is key to college success. Here’s how to stay healthy and happy.

  • Routine is your friend

Set up a daily flow that includes sleep, exercise, and meals to keep you feeling fabulous. Consistency is key to maintaining a healthy balance.

Mercedes Mone asks Japanese fans to respect her privacy and not follow her home

Mercedes Mone made a surprise appearance at the Stardom Cinderella Tournament 2023 yesterday, attacking her number one contender for the IWGP Women’s title Iwatani ahead of their match next week at the Stardom All Star Grand Queendom.

This was her first appearance on Stardom and she was clearly enjoying her time but it looks like fans put a bit of a damper on her mood after some followed her to her place waiting to meet her in a non-wrestling environment.

“Hi [Japan flag] fans. I’m happy that you’re excited that I’m here but please don’t follow or wait for me at my place of stay,” Mone wrote in a tweet. “They’ll [sic] will be an appropriate time and place for a meet and greet. Please respect my privacy and space,” she continued before ending with the word thank you in Japanese.

Several Japanese fans on Twitter backed her up and apologized on behalf of their compatriots although some said that while Japanese fans don’t care about WWE or any other promotions, the fact that they have that enthusiasm for her shows that they have “taken her in” and she should embrace it.

Mone built a reputation of not being very accommodating to fans at airports or hotels while wrestling for WWE so this is not surprising.

Still, following wrestlers, whoever they are, to their hotel or home and stalking them is not cool at all.

John Morrison wins first boxing fight, walks out to ring with WWE and AEW stars

John Morrison made his boxing debut last night in a fight against Harley Morenstein at the Creator Clash 2 event in Tampa, Florida.

The former WWE and Impact Wrestling star had a big entourage with him including the likes of Karrion Kross, Scarlett, LA Knight, Jake Hager, Vic Joseph, Dan “Mojo Rawley” Muhtadi, and other friends from the business, including his wife Taya Valkyrie who she called everyone “family.”

Morrison, who was cornered by Josh Barnett and introduced by WWE Hall of Famer “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, won the fight after a knock out in the third round. Morenstein co-created, produces, and hosts the YouTube show Epic Meal Time.

Following the fight, Morrison called out KSI, the Prime business partner of Logan Paul.
